Giuliani endorses New Jersey Republican for governor

[cnn-photo-caption image= http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2009/images/02/17/art.giuliani.gi.jpg caption=" Rudy Giuliani is backing New Jersey gubernatorial candidate Chris Christie."](CNN) – New Jersey gubernatorial candidate Chris Christie picked up the support of former New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani on Tuesday, one more sign that the GOP establishment is coalescing around the former U.S. attorney as he hopes to unseat Democrat John Corzine.

Though Christie isn’t the only man running for the Republican nomination, he’s quickly cemented his status as the frontrunner since entering the race earlier this month, and has picked up the backing of hundreds of Republican state officials. Last week, he secured the endorsement of New Jersey’s former governor Tom Kean.

With Corzine looking vulnerable - he trailed Christie by six points in a recent Quinnipiac poll - prominent national Republicans like Giuliani are expected to lend their star power to the race.

Giuliani said his fellow former prosecutor is “a decisive leader who knows how to make the tough decisions.” He also praised Christie’s commitment to urban revitalization, a central plank of his gubernatorial bid.

“I am humbled to have the support of Mayor Giuliani, whose strong leadership made New York City a better place and positively affected the lives of so many New Jerseyans,” Christie said.

Giuliani has also raised money for Virginia gubernatorial candidate Bob McDonnell, who, like Christie, is aiming to take back the office from Democrats this fall.

Rudy was a great mayor and I thinks it's great that he's endorsing the better of the two candidates. Corzine's been a terrible Governor. Giuliani is a great guy and could lead Christie to victory in New Jersey.

Well Rush had said that Gen Powell endorsed President Obama ONLY because he was black..........well with Rudy endorsing Christie by using Limbaugh's logic he's only doing it because..................

That's too funny! "A community organizer?" It takes a lot of effort to be as wrong as Rudi. Now we just need Blago to endorse Corzine. Saturday Night Live couldn't even think this one up!

Why does anyone pay attention to Rudy? He is completely insignificant, just makes the Republican party even more annoying.

  12. You know the Republican party is toxic when ... Palin bails on NRCC & CPAC

Maybe he can give some strategic "campaign" advice other than repetitiously filling any lull in conversation with a noun, a verb and 9/11?

Rudy?? Is he still around?? This jerk thought all he had to do was visit central Florida in order to win the Repub. nomination for Prez. This guy should bow out and go home.!! It would be "good riddance to bad trash".

Christie should distance himself from that joker. Please tell Mr. 9/11 to take a hike, because he is not even a good community organizer.

Being endorsed by Rudy Giuliani will add to your popularity about as much as being endorsed by Benito Mussolini.

Rudy is a crook and the GOP candidate will lose the election. The GOP is so out of step they really believe they have this but they don't and the election of Corzine will be such a win. Also, maybe it is best for the GOP to control the state Government it is not like to they will accomplish anything. I see that GOP candidate having something in his closet to hide. If Rudy, McCain and Liberman and others are on your ban wagon, you better change to atrain and get them off. NO HELP FOR THE GOP!

How can you not look at a picture of Rudy and not say to yourself, "that guy is nuttier than squirrel turds."

He did a good job during 9/11 and then went crazy with ego!
