Obama heads to Denver for a reason

[cnn-photo-caption image= http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2009/images/02/17/art.denver.gi.jpg caption="Obama will sign his stimulus bill in Denver."]DENVER, Colorado (CNN) - Denver. Why Denver? There are several reasons why President Barack Obama will sign the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, better known as the Stimulus Plan, Tuesday in Colorado's capital city.

First of all, signing the bill outside of Washington allows Obama to escape the nation's capital, where the battle over the $787 billion piece of legislation turned into an ugly partisan battle, and to be close to people who the White House hopes will benefit from the massive bill.

The setting, the Denver Museum of Nature and Science, is no accident either. Obama boasts that the stimulus will help create up to a half a million so called "green" jobs in the field of alternative energy. Prior to signing the bill into law, the president and Vice President Joe Biden will tour the museum's solar panel installation project.

Colorado has a growing green energy industry.

"Denver would be as good a place as any to highlight investments, putting people to work in energy jobs; investments that will help long-term growth," said White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs.

And finally, the Democrats held their convention in Denver last August, where then-Senator Obama officially accepted his party's presidential nomination. Obama ended up winning Colorado in the presidential contest, one of three western states that swung from the Republicans to the Democrats.

President Obama is going full tilt, in cleaning up the mess left by the Bush Administration. and it is sad the Republicans prefer to throw cold water on his decisions. He has tried to bring them into the picture but they prefer to sulk like spoiled children and stay apart. Such partisonism is nonproductive and they can only blame their own stubborness if they are left out of the loop.

Republicans: Get out of your snit, join in the Democrats' attempt to clean up the mess left by your people over the last 8 years. It's the least you can do. Grow up.

Good choice! Hopefully there will be some $$ for green jobs in Nevada as well. I just installed solar energy and it is wonderful. Win the amount of sun Nevada gets, it's the most economical. The whole state, and even the country, should go to solar and/or wind power.

To me, having Denver spotlighted is just another indication that Prez wants to 'signify' that the west is now in lockstep with the progressive thinking of most of the rest of the country. Admittedly it takes time for some people to come around, and some are nowhere near the enlightenment (the south comes to mind), but Bubba WILL be along 'directly'.

  7. Obama in campaign mode

While Obama tells corporate executives not to travel and hold business conferences, he is jetting all over the country in campaign mode runing up millions of expense - he is a hypocrite.

Pity posters predicting dire doom and gloom less than one month of four years into the Obama Presidency didn't have the same crystal balls to predict the economic mess a George Bush presidency would have left us in

Ironic isn't it? His 747 will burn almost twenty thousand gallons of fuel today and he is signing a bill promoting green jobs.

gen twelve, you are absolutely stupid and foolish to call the president monkey. why didn't you call previous presidents that aren't as much as he is a monkey. it show the thick darkness that clouds your life. hey listen, this economy he inherited from your so called "superior race" bush will turn around. then, probably you can shove your racist comment down your brain

EVERYTHING Obama does has a reason and it has been carefully planned before taken into action. In addition to his huge popularity, that's why republicans hate him so much and contradict him, even knowing he's right. Pure envy.
