(CNN) - I'd give the president's performance tonight a solid B: Substantive, not inspirational. Sober, more programs than hope. Lots of promises - details to come.
I give it an A+. Just my opinion and reaction.
Gloria give the man a break ,if that speech couldn't motivate you seek
what do you mean it was not inspirational???? it was such an uplifting speech.
Gloria, you just don't get it – maybe that's in spite of rather than because you have worked your way to a CNN Senior Political Analyst position.
My mother, a lifelong, diehard republican in her late 80's who has never missed a vote in her life and has never voted for democrat as well, called this evening to tell me that President Obama had delivered what was in her opinion the best presidential address that she had ever heard, topping her previous all-time favorite by Franklin Roosevelt. President Obama spoke directly to America and made himself very clear.
She hit the nail right on the head when she said that the problem with the "analysts" and the "governors" is that although they may in fact be highly educated, they are missing the ultimate qualification – they have never lived through and in the middle of a great depression, so their thoughts and comments are basically inflated attempts at self admiration of their own theories which no one really cares about anyway.
Are you just another one of the throngs of commentators who hopes that the president's plan fails, because in hoping for failure of his plan, or any plan for that matter, you are in turn hoping for defeat and the failure of America just to prove your own points of ignorance.
You should consider returning to Colgate University to re-learn some of the things you've apparently forgotten along the way, such as understanding that the citizens of American are the ultimate judges, and a journalist turned political comentator under the guise of an analyst is nothing better than an out-of-work American looking for hope and a job, and nothing worse than a southern governor attempting to have his way to Washington paved by the failure of our country.
Shame on you!
This is a bit contradictory from Borger's earlier article from today where she stated that we need someone who sounds like they know what they are doing. I bet Borger and Gergen fight over who is in love with obama more backstage while Anderson watches, very annoyed.
President Obama knows how to talk to the average American and the not-so average American. He is an excellent speaker and gives us inspiration.
He is a true visionarian and that is what truly great people are.
Borger, take a flying leap into reality.
