Obama names Locke to head Commerce Department

WASHINGTON (CNN) - The president named former Washington Gov. Gary Locke as his nominee for commerce secretary Wednesday.

I think President Obama did a great job last night keeping us up on what is happening.
We are all in this together so let's all work hard and get this economy turned around.
I own a small business and have for 25 years. So far we are lucky to be able to keep our employees working and supply health insurance.
I am hopeful that within this year we will see improvement.
Every news media keeps talking about 7% unemployment but people there is still 93% people employed so lets keep a positive outlook.
I know people the have walked away from their mortgage only because they can and not because they can't afford it.
most people who lived in washington myself included during locke's time as governer know this was a bad choice. he screwed so many things up its hard to count them all.

Perhaps if you didn't sound so darn condescending when speaking of your fellow Americans, regardless of their wealth, maybe then we could see how conservatives are "patriotic."
There is nothing more patriotic than paying your share of taxes. During the last 20 years the wealthy have enjoyed numerous tax cuts, less regulation on wall street, and very little accountability for shady, lucrative business practices. It's amazing how much you'll call "foul" over a tax increase of two percent.
We've been promised though trickle down (ie. voodoo) economics that the wealthy would create jobs and fuel the economy. This promise was not, and is not being practiced. Therefore I see no reason to continue to extend tax cuts to those not participating fully in our economy.
How can the wealthy call themselves patriot and send jobs overseas for higher profits is beyond me.
The percentage of greedy old white haired republican men is declining and declining rapidly!!! Thank you President Obama and prayers are with you and your team!!!

Obama has no plans just philosophical ideas. I hope Locke will not have his hands tied by the strange bed fellows of Obama. Locke seems to be a man that works in concrete ways to solve problems, instead of the dreamers around Obama.

210 million adults divided into a trillion dollars equals about $4,800 each. I don't think that will go far. It certainly does not equal $1million each.

You propose that the government should just hand out 1.3 Trillion
dollars to the people of this country. And when that is gone (basically pissed away) and the dollar has been devalued by that amount, and the "already Loaded" businesses and businessmen are still in the same situation, and the banks are still not solvent what then? Just print more money?
I don't agree with a lot of things Obama is doing (I an independent),
but your idea is right out of Saturday Night Live. By the way, when did it become so reprehensible to work hard all your life, get to the point of making a good living after many years of self paid schooling and years working your way up in a corporation, and finally reaching financial independance. You didn't pay for it, or do the 4-5 years of schooling, and the 25 years of continuous work to get there, so why should you get a piece of anything.
All of Obama's picks are to make himself look good. Can you imagine working for this guy? It's all about himself.

News flash-not only do liberal work, we make more money than you guys, and we're not complaining that we might have to pay more. I live in the Deep South, and there are more poor white Republicans around here than anything else, and they'll run over you for a welfare check. 1/20/13 You are a complete and total idiot. Just so you know, not every liberal is on welfare and we aren't all struggling by fault of our own. I was privileged enough to go to a great school, finish my degree, and find a job in this economy. It's my job to interact on a daily basis with those who have nothing. Some of them used to be like you, unable to comprehend why social programs are even necessary because they never had to worry about money a day in their precious lives. An overwhelming majority of the people that come into my office are poor or otherwise in need of assistance through no fault or laziness of there own. Maybe if you had ever ventured out of your protective little bubble you could understand why some of us are of a different political persuasion than you. Jerk.

Gary Locke will be a good Commerce Secretary. He was a good governor for the State of Washington. He understands trade with SE Asia. Good family man. I never heard of any skeletons in his closet.
