The only thing that I want to hear about Iraq is that we're getting the heck out of there!

  2. Iraq Withdrawal - Another Broken Promise

President Obams is breaking his promise to withdraw all US troops from Iraq within 16 months. His plan now invoives withdrawing "many" troops, but he is leaving 50,000 troops behind for training, although the military acknowledged these "trainers" or advisers could see significant military action.

Another lie. Another broken promise. When John McCain honestly said that we would need to leave forces behind – Obama jumped all over him. for this remark My, how the worm turns once he is elected

And it gets worse. For those troops that are withdrawing from Iraq, many will be redeployed to Afghanistan.

In three years, Obama will have MORE troops in combat than George Bush had at the peak of the war. This is not change. This is DUMB

So, This frigging idiot president has finally decided he would give the military a theill and make an appearence at one of their bases, how generous of him. The saddest part of it all is that their commanders will instruct the troops to be present for his visit. If I was still in the Corps ( Honorablydischarged 1949) I would most likely be listed as AWOL for his visit.

He just LOVES giving those speeches instead of actually working on what he continues to say. Go back to the White House and work on all that crap you keep promising or, better yet, go back to Illinois!!!

I think this post is a bait to get people start complaining about Obama giving too many speeches. Thanks Ed but we are smarter than that.

We probaby will do well in not takin' politicians' speeches, too literally and seriously. Promises act like guidelines to rule and govern, and a few deviations may be tolerable, if they have country's welfare in their minds.

My soldier returned from Iraq in January with shrapnel in his shoulder, traumatic brain injury due to over 20 IED explosions, a Purple Heart, a Bronze Star, and other decorations. I am well aware of how lucky I am to have my son home. Some families are on their 3rd and 4th deployments to Iraq. Logistically we cannot pull everyone out at once, but let's get 'em all home as swiftly possible. No more Americans should be sacrified, or gravely wounded.

For the amount of time this guy gives speeches instead of working, he should have his own channel.

President Obama's plans for Iraq sound just right and he's following through on his promise to us to be "as careful getting out of Iraq as we were careless getting in." The Iraqi people have oil revenues and should be able to manage their own affairs without us, and our economy will benefit if America doesn't have that expensive war going on and on and on.

Is there anything else that Obama can do other than just giving Speeches? And travelling around like he is still in an election campaign?

We're pulling out. I think we pay $1billion for the head of Osama bin laden. If Obama gets him (at any cost) it will be considered a victory. Maybe he can't announce it in public, but someone's got to do it and I think it would work. The pressure on that guy would ramp up dramatically. Matter of fact give $50M for the close advisors to bin laden. We need to cut off the head and leave them with stupid little attacks in Europe.

@ANOTHER BROKEN PROMISE. Yes he did state during the campaign that he would pull our troops, but you failed to listen when he was elected that he would seek advise from the commanders and listen to their evaluation. You state he would have more troops in the war than Bush, well let me finish. WE SHOULD HAVE NEVER BEEN IN IRAQ IN THE FIRST PLACE. Once again, President Obama is cleaning up the mess created by the prior administration so stop calling YOUR President a liar, it is not only UN-AMERICAN

@Iraq Withdrawal – Another Broken Promise – Could you do any better. Obama didn't start the war. You should be talking to Bush. He started the war. You know Obama can't just pull our people out. I hate backseat drivers.

More speeches – and broken promises. He was going to start bring troops home on Day 1! Obama will make everything worse not better. He will dig us in a financial hole that we will never get out of and put us in another war in another country. We will become totally dependent on govenment and will not be able to do anyting without government. Does the word "impeachment" before its too late come to mind.

One more speech. Is Obama going to run this country with his speeches. Our country is in mess and it looks like Obama will not be able to fix it.

Ironically, some right-leaners are bashing Obama for withdrawing too early from Iraq as a broken promise, here someone is bashing Obama for not withdrawing early enough!!
Gimme a break, NO WAY in three years will 150,000 soldiers be deployed in Iraq and Afganistan.
My son also was in Iraq, and thankfully came home safe......HIS observation is that the problem is not there.....the problem is in Afganistan....we can thank DUBYA for leading us on an eight year wild goose chase to atone for the sins of HIS father.

Get our troops out of Iraq and Afghanistan. We need to cut defense spending and work our way out of the economic debacle that greed and war have sunk us into!
