Democrats voice concerns on Obama's Iraq drawdown plan

WASHINGTON (CNN) - Top Democrats have expressed concerned over President Obama's plan to draw down nearly two-thirds of U.S. forces in Iraq by August 2010, while some key Republicans are offering praise.

At issue: Obama plans to leave between 35,000 to 50,000 residual forces in the war-torn country, serving in a training or advisory role to the Iraqi military.

All U.S. troops have to be out of Iraq by December 31, 2011, under an agreement the Bush administration signed with the Iraqi government last year. There are currently 142,000 U.S. troops in Iraq.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-California, recently cited concern that the residual force Obama is planning to leave in Iraq is too large.

So taking "ALL" of the troops out: 30,000 – 50,000 left there out of 142,000. He is leaving ONE THIRD of the troops there.

I know he covered his *** during the campaign by sort of disclosing this quietly. But come on – would you have rushed to vote for him if he had told you straight up? : "I am only bringing home 2/3 of trrops from iraq and sending that many to Afghanistan?"

He benefitted from his preppy wordy confusing lawyer speak. See? No one followed what he was saying!

Wa, wa, wa. The fact that Pelosi is control of ANYTHING more than a television remote is a crime. If only there were enough intelligent people in her district to vote her out.

Of course in 2010, when the Republicans regain control, Pelosi will be railroaded out of town. And I'd line up just to wave as this sanctimonious, stupid, idiotic excuse for a human being goes by.

Nancy Pelosi – Washington D.C.'s village idiot.

I don't know why he has been saying the same thing for over a year. Let me quote him “I will leave a force there to train and protect America interest. And we should be more careful getting out as we was careless going in.” So if the Dems are having problem they just wasn't listing.

Suck it up, Nancy. It's better than the John McCain 100 year plan.

Someone should tell Pelosi that she is not in charge of the nation. Pelosi needs to crawl back in her hole and let the course of events take place.

  16. Obama - Nothing Great So Far

Obama should listen to experience people. He hasn't done anything great except giving good speeches. People are realizing that voting for someone who talks good but lacks knowledge is wrong. His plans will never work and that is dangerous for America.

Miss Nancy where was your concern when you voted with Bush to send them to war, when Cheney got his buddies at Blackwater and Halliburton no bid contract. If the Generals on the ground are fine with it, you need to get along missy. This is not the issue to pretend you're not going to rubber stamp what the President wants. You couldn't stop Bush, don't pretend there is anything you can do about it now. Lots can change in 19 months, maybe the Iraqis wil tell us to leave completely.

Bush fueled post 9/11 fear and anxiety coupled with a faulty connect the dots argument based on false intelligence to trick us into goin to war, just as Obama has fueled fear and anxiety over the cureent recession to advance the Democratic party's surrealistically bloated spending proposals. Pelosi has zero credibility ith me, and a good deal of the american people. I am reluctant to go along with anything she proposes or supports, even if it turns out that I agree with her. We're in for a bumpy 4 years. I hope it isn't 8 years.
