Preston on Politics: Democrats target Democrats

[cnn-photo-caption image=http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2009/POLITICS/02/26/preston.accountability.now/art.moulitsas.cnn.jpg caption="DailyKos' Markos Moulitsas says his online community is wary of Democrats being corrupted by power."]

WASHINGTON (CNN) - Call it a shot fired across the bow, or simply a stern warning to congressional Democrats: Power corrupts, and we are watching your every move. And if we think you are no longer representing the interests of your constituents, we will try to defeat you next year.

A Republican threat? Good guess, but no.

This is what Democratic activists are telling lawmakers of their own party, and they have formed a political action committee to raise money and help galvanize support for Democratic primary challengers in 2010.

WATCH more on political infighting

Accountability Now PAC formally launched Thursday, creating a potential headache for Democratic leaders who would rather spend time focused on expanding their congressional majorities next year rather than defending Democrats from fellow Democrats.

Dems, Reps, makes no difference. If they are corrupt, vote them out. They do a disservice to every state they represent, and to the overall goodwill of the USA.

our system is broken when we are all too often having just these types of concerns. the fix is not promoting another group of windbag needy greedy meme'rs, but thinking about a new way of governing ourselves. enough of this back and forth!

Ever heard of a "mole"??? methinks maybe "some" of these same democrats just "might" not be real democrats to begin with ! and if they are, so whats wrong with "questioning" your own kind ?? that keeps ALL in line..geeesh, even people question thier own GODS ! but, in politics, its called "checks and balances"...Pres Obama has told all, he WANTS people to question and debate him, as he wants opposing views to think about ! makes his job easier then when he can take the brightest "ideas" no matter what party they are affiliated with .to make his decisions with...its time for ALL to co operate, give these bills a "chance" to work..nothing else has worked yet !

This "warning" was made explicitly to those southern CONFEDERATE
    RED STATE Democrats...

...who are as racist, obstructionist and treasonous as their Republican't co-conspirators...

...accountability is the way to cleanse America...

...let's purge our government of ALL "conservative Confederates"...

    ...and make America GREAT!

To the Republicans if you think that the Democrats are corrupt, look to your own party. I am a Democrat and I am not corrupted, but I am in the majority living from hand to mouth paycheck to paycheck.

We have this problem after a Republican who is in the Office of the WH. Reagan thought that the trickle down system would stimulate the economy, well it took ten to fifteen years? I went for a job in the 90's twice and was hired for two jobs, can we do that now?

    Think about that one!

Republicans know all about corruption after 8 years of BUSH...They are experts on it..That is why BUSH deserves an 8 by 10 foot cell and an orange junp suit. Maybe in 20 years he will sober up..

Nothing wrong with that, we need the old guard to walk away into the sunset. It is time for a new congress and new senate with of course majority Democrats. Young Democrats with new ideas that will represent generations X and Y. Forget the baby boomers they already had their chance in the lime light.

I think this is one of the best organizations I have heard of. The best way to keep the irrational, blood-thirsty, morally-emptyheaded and Limbaugh fat-and-arrogant wing of the Republican party out of power is to keep the alternative options as honest and grounded and 'clean' as possible.

My personal mantra is 'don't give your enemies any ammunition.' If the Dems and Independents can keep their noses clean and remember who they work for~ the people and only the people ~ then it reduces the competitive tools the right wing will have to use against the people's rights once the fickle American public begins to swing back to conservativism again in a few years (as they usually do like a pendulum).

Moderates and Liberals in Office: keep your eyes on the prize and you will remain in control! Of the spending, of the military, of Science, of health care, and most importantly, of the Constitution!

And that goes to you, too, Mr. President! 🙂

Hey, Bush is gone. They've got to direct all that liberal anger somewhere.

Pelosi are you listening? Yes, you and those who don't work for the people who sent you there. And don't be working on your reelection campaigns while in session.

.And you libs, who want gun control, or ANY attempt to wreck the 2nd amendment..YOU will be targeted by the voters. That will be real change

And anyone trying to alter ANY part of the constitution or the Bill of Rights. Your oath of office calls you to defend the constitution..ALL of it, NOT just the parts of it that you agree with. This applies to all politicians.

Good for this guy. What both major political parties in this country need is a swift kick in the pants. Those in power abuse the position and repersent nothing more than the interests of the party elite. Democrats will throw we the people a bone ever once in a while but only after they have stripped it of all the meat, the republicans wont even let us have the bone. Listening to what congressional leadership of both parties has said and done since the new administration took over is horrid. They only repersent themselves and party first, foremost and always. We need a change from this mentality and get people in office we can trust for a change.

Ahhhh....the DemacRAT nest is getting tooooo crowded with 'Alphas'!!! The infighting is beginning!!! The collapse will begin just in time for the 2010 elections. Well, the 'RATS only had a few years to goon this country up!!

Once the 'RATS who's necks are on the line realize their tenure is limited, you will see them starting to 'work/play better with others'...the Repubs. Since they ALL cannot make a new nest (go independant or roll right), THEY will have to look more like the Repubs to NOT look like the other 'RATS in the nest!!

I still have hope in this great country. And, it is all because of the self-induced ankle-biting of the 'RATS! The civilized party didnt turn on their leadership EVEN WHEN the chips were down.

To you 'RAT followers...BO hasn't hit 100 days yet and YOUR party supporters say the ship is sinking. Dont be a 'RAT stuck in the lower compartments when the BOat sinks.........

Don't be fooled into thinking democrats are with this lot. Our senators and representatives know well that these empty barrels make the most noise, but represent few voters. They know this and so the noise but little else.

This is NOT the time for Democratic Party to go their separate ways. The Republican Party is currently in disarray, but they will soon circle the wagons, retool, and return with a vengeances. The Democratic Party should NOT be wasting valuable time staking out far left liberal agendas, but should be focus on fixing the disasters left by Bush & Cheney.

Nobody in Washington is representing the interest of their constituents.
This is a Washington/Government problem. That's why people (Especially conservatives) are pissed off.
Obama may be the President, and the Democrats may be the majority, but its voices like Nancy Pelosi that are being heard. She is the Voice of the party. Hard left policies are going to be the down fall of the Democrats. Bigger Government is the reason Bush's approval rating tanked, and that's why people are waking up now because this Government is growing daily, and it is coming into our living rooms, and it will effect our way of life.
Just wait. Ugly cars, taxes on barbecue grills

Why is the media so braindead when it comes to "accountability" as the cornerstone of democracy? This isn't about giving Democratic leaders "headaches;" rather it's democracy in action. We need to hold those we've elected into office accountable to the principles for which they themselves profess. I understand the media loves stories about infighting - Democratic or Republican - but the bottom line is that this isn't about "activism" or "Democrats vs. Democrats," it's about making sure our elected officials do their jobs. The irony? That used to be the traditional media's calling card. Now? The Netroots (on both sides) have taken this task up due to the failing of the media. So I guess the TM can continue writing stories about political infighting; the rest of us will do your job.
