[cnn-photo-caption image= http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2009/images/03/05/art.bachmann.gi.jpg caption="Bachmann sounded the socialism alarm on Thursday."]WASHINGTON (CNN) - Some Republicans in Congress are continuing to warn that President Obama is intent on turning the United States into a socialist nation.
Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann pressed the socialism argument on Thursday, telling a conservative radio show that the Obama administration is "completely socializing the American economy" with its mortgage relief proposals and bailouts of financial institutions.
"What we've seen them do in the last five weeks is nothing short of a great leap forward toward than finalizing a place of socialism in American economic life," Bachmann told radio host G. Gordon Liddy. "We have never seen this level of socialism in the history of our country, and I think the American people would be floored when they understand the dramatic steps that Obama has taken for our future."
Bachmann called for a "a growth future, a prosperity future, a freedom liberty future."
"Will we be a country that will go forward with liberty, freedom and prosperity, or will we be a country that's mired in Eastern European, Western European doldrums, where freedom is limited and taxation remains high?," she asked.
Bachmann wasn't the only House Republican to say as much on Thursday.
Tennessee Rep. Zach Wamp, who is also running for governor in his home state, told MSNBC that the president's health care proposals represent "a fast march toward socialism."
Oh "You Be Da Lady, You Be Day Lady." SHUT UP BACHMANN!! You're on the LOSING TEAM!!!!
NUTJOB ALERT!
Socialists don't spend anywhere near this kind of money, they right wing compared to this.
If you want to learn something about socialism, try keeping up with what Chavez is doing in Venezuela. The government has its giant claw in everything there. Sound familiar? Obama putting our tax dollars into everything so that all those receiving those funds now are at the mercy of Obama. Go ahead, keep reading whats going on down there and then mirror that to whats going on in America under the current administration.
I really didn't think I would hear anyone more moronic than that Palin wretch...Well, look how wrong you can be!
With the direction this economy is headed, we might be lucky if Socialism is the worst that we end up with.
I suspected that the GOP was dazed and confused, now I have no doubt. When Michelle Bachmann becomes the voice of reason in the Republican Party and the only response that voice has made is Socialism, without putting forth any viable alternative, the Republican Party is truly bankrupt of ideas
God forbid the Republicans won't be able to profit off the backs of Americans if that happens. If you want to know who the evil doers are look in the mirror !
Hey Comrades!
Market down another 250+ points!!
WoooHooo! Spread the wealth!!
It' already here. Obamaism has taken over.
How come the RePIGlicans never point back to the last 8 years-the years that forced this country into "Socialism"? If this is Socialism (and it is not) then I will take more of it. Why don't you HELP this country get out of this mess you made, RePIGlicans, instead of making of names for the cure?
Do any of you know what an Ogliarchy is?
It is the rule of the few, in their own interests.
We have just come out of 8 years of this type of government that created this mess.
I don't know about you, but I am tired of the rich getting richer while the rest of us struggle.
Whatever socialism is, it looks better to me than the last 8 years!
Bachman and Wamp. Makes my confidence in the GOP go sky High! Wamp, who said today the health insurance is a priveledge, not a right. Tell that to the people who cannot afford to buy it! As for Bachman, the dumbest woman I have ever seen ( worse than Palin), go spray a little more Aqua Net on your hair honey. You just keep on smelling the hairspray! What idiots!
Conservative: "My fellow COMRADES. Welcome to the United Socialist Republics of Once America ! You will be told when to clap with the appropriate enthusiasm !!"
Pat: "I agree 100% – we will all be look-alike robots, no rights, everybody equal whether we contribute to society or not, our wealth is going to be spread around, and no matter how hard you work or save, you will be no better off than those who don't."
I'm not sure what alternative ideas you have – but is it something different than what has been going on during the past 8 years? If not – how about letting the dems see what solutions they have. Hey – it can't be worse than what the repubs did, and the last time the dems were in office they left a huge surplus. I think we deserve at least the same amount of time to straighten out the mess that the last administration took to get us here before you all start pronouncing us to be "socialists."

Still haven't met a Republican who can give me a correct definition of Socialism.
I agree Jim, "socialism" is the latest "boogeyman" that the Right-Wing blowhards and corporate apologists are using to scare people who don't know any better. I would like Michelle Bachmann or any of these people who are throwing around the word socialism to explain what it means, which of Obama's policies are socialist in nature and how these policies will lead this country to ruin. I'd also like them to explain exactly which parts of our current economic situation prove that capitalism is superior.
If you look up "unhinged right-wing wacko" in the dictionary, you'll see Bachman's photo.
And another thing! Do the Republican Party think for one minute, that if they changed there 'look', people would change their 'minds' about them? First Steele, then Jindal, and now a..... w-o-m-a-n (yeah yeah that's it, we'll use a w-o-m-a-n). It's the message stupid! You can't keep the same message that most disagree with, then put 'believable' face on it to 'look' like change. GEEZ I'm LMAO! Talk about lipstick on a pig. Woe unto idiots, now, it's going to be even harder to sway new voters because of the cunnery. The GOP should have taken the opportunity to reflect, regroup, and rebuild, while helping to reconstruct America's economy. Instead, they decided to distract, disparage, and deconstruct any idea that didn't come from them. I believe they fear the success of the new administration because it would mean the death of them. Too bad, so sad.
IT IS TIME ! to create a TEAM – TOUR THE FORCE – of lawyers, journalists, investigators... in order to uncover the ENEMIES OF THE STATE IN GOVERNMENT, IDENTIFIED THEM, NAME THEM, EXPOSE THEM TO THE PUBLIC...ASK FOR A NATION-WIDE CITIZEN REFERENDUM TO EXPELL THEM FROM OFFICE !....ALL THIS IN CONSTITUTIONAL WAY.SO THE GET REMOVED AND WE, THE PEOPLE, REPLACE THEM WITH DECENT INDIVIDUALS WITH GOOD CHARACTER AND INTEGRITY
Our beloved country deserves BETTER LEADERS.
sincerely,

This woman barely won her reelection! You would think she would have learned her lesson in the general election with her rude remarks! Apparently, like many, many Republicans, she is going to have to learn her lessons all over again since she flunked her exam the first time!
Let's not forget that the GOP engineered the bailout of the financial and auto industries. Obama inherited this mess but Comissar Bush is the architect.
And we had dictatorship under the Republicans for 8 years.
What's their gripe about?
OMG....stupidity truly reigns in the GOP. Where are the ideas? Where were the ideas? Why are the Repubs surprised that most people were/are ready for another direction after the stubborn incompetance of the Bush administration? If there had been one iota of bi-partisanship then we MIGHT not have Obama NOW. The Repubs got what they EARNED.
Check it out. Josephine McCarthy is back. Didn't she get enough ridicule for that MSNBC fiasco with Chris Matthews? Or does she want more?
Republicans,
What are your ideas and suggestions? Please put them out there; people are asking you to outline the specifics of your plan, and it can't just be about tax cuts. That has not worked either.
Please, stop complaining and accusing, and start offering real suggestions and ideas that will work for America. And unfortuately, there will be people helped who shouldn't be. But hey! It is either that or continue to let the majority of Americans suffer because of the few greedy.
when the money was going to the rich it wasn't socialism.. but now tha the money looks like it will be helping the middle and low income.. its socialism...
under Bush your emails were read and your phone calls were listened too... no problem with that right??
