WASHINGTON (CNN) – President Obama and first lady Michelle Obama will head to Europe at the end of the month, White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs announced Thursday.

The first couple will visit the United Kingdom, France, Germany, and the Czech Republic on a trip from March 31 to April 5.

The president will visit Europe to attend the G-20 economic summit as well as a NATO event, Gibbs said.

Maybe Obama should avocate a spending freeze. After all it worked for Hoover.

I wish Prsident and Mrs. Obama good luck on their trip. Maybe they can repair some of the damage done to our foreign relations during the past eight years.

The President needs to stay home, stop spending more of our tax dollars
and veto all the pork in the upcoming bills. Oh well, by the time he leaves for Europe the stock market will have fallen off the cliff and most of us who he wants to tax at a higher rate will not have anything left for retirement. President Obama, wake up and start leading the country the way you said you would when you ran for office. Has power clouded your vision? America deserves more.

NoLeftTurn...finally you get it. Shut up already!!!

I mean, memo to Obama: stay in your office, never come out and don't speak at all until you fixed this mess that we have encountered from over 8 years of mess and by the way you only have 10 days to restore 8 years of Bush mess. Did you hear me? I said 10 DAYS!!!! So, don't you dare think about talking to anyone about anything and don't you dare step out and actually go somewhere. HEAVEN only got 10 DAYS!!!! What is this MISSION was a movie people. I am guessing you guys are off the world map time...somewhere you are 3 years ahead of the world. So, catch me up who wins March Madness 2009! DANG!

I read some comments of people exposing their true ignorance on important issues. We're in a global crisis, folks, we need to work with other countries to solve problems that, without global cooperation, will soon be too catastrophic to solve. This is a not a rock star tour–duh !!!

  9. Chris W,

I can't figure out why he'd be going to the Czech Republic before going to Italy. Is it Italy = Pope = no Bama visit, Czech = Eastern Europe Missile Shield = let's make a deal w/ Ru$sia... ?
Well I'm an American living in London and I can tell you this city will go into 100% pandemonium if he so much as shows his face out on the street.. if Obama was "rude" to Gordon Brown on his visit to D.C. it was totally calculated, so actually the word should be shrude. I wonder if he thinks Labor would be better of w/someone else?

you fail to realize that he has only been in office less than two months and he inherited this economy from Bush ; he didn't create it.

People, you need to give Obama a chance,at least he is trying things to help get the country moving. Maybe it will work, maybe it wont but at least give it a chance.before you tear him apart.

Cannot we agree to disagree with some sense of decency? and not with PERSONAL attacks on our President?

It is an important visit. America must show that it is not turning protectionist/isolationist, and this visit will help overcome that notion.

It would be wise to visit Spain, also. Over time Spain will be the major locus of Eoropean development.

  15. Man enough to admit we were wrong

When did we Republicans become the party of whiners? Do we all have to be Limbaugh's - butt boys. (To use his words) Can't we admit we screwed up, and move on from there?

He's just trying to take the focus off the big issues here at home...oh well, President Emmanuel should be able to handle it while he is away....just like he is doing now.

Won't this trip cost alot of money, and how 'bout the carbon footprint!?

I believe President Obama has had quite a bit longer to handle the problems at hand than you libs would EVER have given Bush, admit it, he is an utter failure.

What the hell do you think people mean when they express excitement. We know its not a rock star show..what we also know is Bush's only trip was to his ranch in Texas while the world economy was crumbling....and allies pulling troops from the war front. Get a clue..we shouldn't have to right a book about's common sense...duh!!!!!!!!!!!

Good... this is how Presidents behave! They don't start wars for the wrong reasons... and they do NOT isolate us from the rest of the world.... of course, unless it will pad someone's pocket if they go to a third world country for child labor! NOW that is what Bush was all about!

We finally have a President who knows how to be a President! 🙂

It's interesting how we want the Sunnis and the Shias to get along in Iraq but here the Reublicans and Democrats rarely get along. When will we laern? Republicans took such a thumping at the last election that The President can do no right.
