Congressional Dems have 'heated' meeting over spending bill

WASHINGTON (CNN) - Senate and House Democratic leaders had what two sources describe as an extremely heated meeting Thursday night about the spending bill.

Once Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid figured out he did not have the votes to pass it, he and Senate Democratic Whip Dick Durbin went to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s office to propose passing a five day resolution to keep the government running, and come back to the $410 billion spending bill next week.

The two Democratic sources say Pelosi reacted with “anger,” arguing that Democrats should instead adopt a “scorched earth” strategy and simply fund the government at last year’s levels through the end of the year. Her point, according to the sources, was that even though Republicans have been slamming the bill as wasteful spending, many of them really have an interest in seeing it passed. This would call their bluff.

One of the sources says Reid and Durbin pushed back, saying the bill increases funding for a lot of Democratic priorities slashed by President Bush, and that it was worth another try. At the end of the tense meeting, Senate Democrats prevailed.

This meeting was first reported by the Politico.

We know what's what. The Greedy Obstructionist Party is HISTORY. And some of the whiners in the Dem party better watch out too.

This is a prime example of a power hungry shrew that puts her own agenda before the good of the country. Only a traitor against the nation would want to impliment a "scorched earth policy". She should be hung from the tallest tree. Shame on the people that elected her.

Pelosi is in way over her head. Her scorched earth policy is a couple of years to late. If she had developed a spine during the waning years of Bush, she'd have a leg to stand on. Now, she looks behind the times and ill suited in her role as speaker of the house.

Pelosi needs to shut her yap! She's been running the House as if she was elected queen of America. It's time she learned to listen to others, starting with her own party!

I say call their bluff! Republicans want to rail against the pork in the bill so they can score some political points, but they've stuffed plenty of pork in there themselves. CALL THEM OUT. The base is extremely good at self-delusion and mental gymnastics, but when it comes to something as blatant as this, even the most ardent southern conservative will be unable to delude themselves into believing the latest GOP talking point.

I think the halls and walls of all government building should be nothing but faces of this recession.
    The Faces of Eviction
    The Faces of the Homeless
The Faces of people without medical
    The Faces of Americans
    The Faces of us

Make both parties look at nothing but our faces. And only removed once they come up with a solution

So if you have a camera.. start shooting and send to congress.

Quid pro quo. An eye for an eye. Current politics in this country are dangerous for the future OF this country. I'm disappointed with Republicans and Democrats alike. Neither party seems to have the best interest of the country at heart. Both sides appear to only be intersted in winning and punishing political opposition. Give us a positive leader with big ideas that are worthy of the great nation we live in. Do not teach us to be scared and rely on the government. No one – not the current president, not the former president, not Senator Reid and certainly not Representative Pelosi have chosen to LEAD this country back to greatness; nor are they capable.

Why doesn't this country march on DC and call for every single republican in congress to resign and get out of Dodge. They have not one darn thing since the selfless greedy egotistical bunch lost the last two elections but try their darnest to obstruct any thing and every thing that is being done to bring this country back from bush ruination.

Just remember people THEY RUBBER STAMPED EVERY SINGLE SOLITARY ASININE BILL TO SUPPORT THE SUPER RICH AND BIG BUSINESS. They gave tax breaks for companies to go overseas, losing our jobs and causing a lot of this mess.

Guess this post is too sensitive for CNN and as per usual they won't post it, they never do.

When are these CHILDREN going to understand that they are not there for their own personal ego boost, but for the real people that they allegedly govern, the citizens and taxpayers? These people, on BOTH sides of their respective isles, make me want to throw up.

Pelosi is starting to resemble Bush in far too many ways. He too huffed, stomped, and threatened until he got his way with everything, never stopping to listen to anyone.
It is time to put these congressional leaders in their proper place. We got rid of monarchs in the 18th century for a reason, we don't want them to come back.

These three children should be thrown out of the Congress building. They have no business making laws for this country. Its time to take government spending responsibly, both democrat and republican, you are spending OUR money, spend it wisely or else one day we all might get fed up, which will be sooner rather than later if this crap continues.
