Gingrich talks openly about running in 2012

[cnn-photo-caption image= http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2009/images/03/06/art.gingrich.gi.jpg caption="Gingrich is mulling a White House bid in 2012."]WASHINGTON (CNN) - Newt Gingrich is talking out loud about a possible run for the White House in 2012.

“Calista and I will look seriously, and we'll probably get our family totally engaged, including our two grandchildren, probably in January 2011, and we'll look seriously at whether or not we think its necessary to do it,” Gingrich told reporters in Ashland, Virginia last night, according to the Richmond Times-Dispatch.

“And if we think it's necessary we'll probably do it,” he said. “And if it isn’t necessary we probably won't do it.”

The former House Speaker told the New York Times magazine something similar in a profile published over the weekend.

“I think I’m closer to Benjamin Franklin than to George Washington,” Gingrich told the magazine. “I’m a contributor to my country and to my times. If it turns out that there’s a moment when it makes sense to run, then I’ll run. But if I end up never being able to run, then it won’t devastate me.”

Gingrich briefly flirted with the idea of running for president in 2007, telling supporters that if he could raise $30 million in a three-week period he would enter the race, but ultimately decided against entering the race.

Though he’s mulling a run, Gingrich said it may be time to pass the torch to younger crop of leaders. He told the Times-Dispatch that he sees the Republican Party “moving towards a whole new generation” and predicted that Virginia Rep. Eric Cantor, the House Minority Whip, is on the path to becoming Speaker of the House.

I am a moderate conservative, and prior to Bush, tended to vote Republican, but not always. I really hope Gingrich doesn't run. The GOP needs to redo itself. They need to get away from the old, and start with the new, and no, not Palin 🙂

If they don't adapt and grow to the new way, they are toast, and won't get my vote. We need new ideas from both sides, and change. The Democrats appear to have already started, with Obama. They need to continue into the Congress, but at least they started.

Will the GOP follow or continue to be irrelevant?

Is this going to be another one of those "contract with america" farces? You know, like the last one that you bragged so much about back in the day? The one that proved itself to be nothing more than "lip service" and total BS? I haven't forgotten! And I also seem to remember a little ethics violation that forced you to step down as Speaker of the House as well! You sir are a waste of time, my time, you're time, and the United States of Americas time! Buh-bye now!!!!!

I'd love to see Gingrich and Limbaugh run. There wouldn't be a bigger Democratic landslide win ever in the entire history of the United States.

'By the way, i was just informed that the so call increase I will get in my paycheck for April 1 has a problem. The tax table isn't changing so i will end up paying more when filing next year! So the small increase that I get I will have to ask that it be taken out for taxes nowso I don't end up paying next year! '

worried mom- you obviously dont work, or if you do, you obviously know nothing about the taxes that come out of your check. the tax cut is just that- a TAX CUT- it doesnt change your income, it changes how much you pay in TAXES- your logic is like that of my five year old son. you will not owe more at the end of the year, unless you get a huge raise or dont withhold enough, just like always. DUH stop spewing that idiocy and go to work.

I love how liberals scream about wanting equality for all. But as soon as you disagree with them, they resort to name calling. Take expat american for example, if I were actually a conservative (i am an independant), i would be extremely angry the way you characterize them, with the (SS). You my friend, are about as hypocritical as they come. And as far as any public official being drug through the mud, I think quite a few of Obama's picks have their own skeletons, they don't seem to think they need to pay taxes, but they don't mind raising everyone elses. Guess it doesn't matter when you don't pay.

Please, Mr. Gingrich, run for POTUS! Our country needs you!

Now, I'm certain the libs are going to bash, about marriage infidelity and what not. Probably the only thing they can do.

I say… take a look at John Edwards, Bill Clinton, and the rest. He who is without sin cast the first stone.
    -------–
Uh, Bill Clinton was impeached, and John Edwards lost his bid for the presidency. Gingrich would get nothing less.

I challenge anyone out there to take 10 minutes out of their day and try to find 1 case, just 1 where SOCIALISM has worked. If you look up the definition of socialism it clearly states:a theory or system of social organization that advocates the vesting of the ownership and control of the means of production and distribution, of capital, land, etc., in the community as a whole, (in Marxist theory) the stage following capitalism in the transition of a society to communism, characterized by the imperfect implementation of collectivist principles. Can anyone deny that this is the path BHO is taking us down! Im sure everyone who was on the Hitler bandwagon at the time can now look back and realize it was a mistake.

Wheel him in! Let's see what he looks like! How old is this guy? He looked old to me when he was Speaker of the House. That was a long time ago. How old will he be in 2012, 2016, or 2020 (his last year in office after two terms)?
This is another tired old retread.

Additionally, after the heat that Edwards took over his infidelity, and the relgious fervor with which Gingrich went after President Clinton for his hanky panky, I hope Gingrich gets the same treatment for cheating on his wife.

Remember all those racist and homophobic comments this guy made?

This is a serious candidate? Your 'contract' has expired, Newt.
