Obama's jobs plan: 25 down. 3,499,975 to go

[cnn-photo-caption image= http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2009/images/03/06/art.obama21.gi.jpg
caption="Obama heads to Ohio today."] WASHINGTON (CNN) - President Barack Obama headed to Columbus, Ohio on Friday to attend a graduation ceremony for 25 police cadets.

Obama has repeatedly pledged to save or create 3.5 million jobs with his economic stimulus plan. The soon-to-be graduates of the Columbus Division of Police were recently told they would be laid off due to budget cuts in the city - but the mayor of the city announced that with money from the economic stimulus package, the jobs would be safe through at least the end of the year, and the White House says those jobs were saved because of the president's economic stimulus plan.

The presidential visit comes on the heels of the February jobs report, which reported 651,000 jobs had been lost. The unemployment rate now stands at 8.1 percent, its highest level since December 1983.

The president and Attorney General Eric Holder are expected to speak to the graduation class mid-day Friday.

Why does it cost $200,000 per job?

If you count the paid right wingnut bloggers, we are a lot closer to the 3.5 million jobs created.

This is just an example. Multiply this event times tens of thousands similar situations happening around the nation and you will get the picture.

The new plan is to be criminals cuz lets face it, we are going to eat it this time, and it doesnt pay to work to pay your bills cuz all we get to do is bailout all the Idiots that cant handle there bills. And yes Obama is responsible for all the dumb moves he has made that have pulled our economy down further and further. Most Americans don't trust him and never will. Welcome to the next great DEPRESSION.

Obama doesn't seem to be brighter than Bush with all the mistakes he is making. Are you really this stupid or are you just playing on on the internet?

    25 Jobs in 30 days = 1 job/day.

Gee, Obama , it will only take 9,589 years for you to keep your promise!

WHAT a freakin' joke this guy is. He TOUTS 25 cadets... but will "blame Bush" for THOUSANDS of job losses under HIS administration.

CNN...this is such a Joke. What about the jobs you showed on TV in Missouri and the construction jobs they started at maryland. Why are you only touting this 25 jobs.

It seems to me like most CNN commentators are either in bed with Republicans or running their political agenda. just put some truth in journalism is all i ask of you

And i know like many other comments, i dont expect this to be posted

    Magnum Cl-

Even though Fox News reports it, it is not necessarily true. 95% of working people will get a tax cut, which is the biggest tax cut in history. ACORN is not a benefactor of the stimulus package, and your hero (#43) ran the country as a dictatorship.

Magnum, your uneducated ramblings only make you look like a bigot. Bigotry is your downfall. You are now seen as not credible. Furthermore, the idea that you can somehow see the future would indicate that you believe you are psychic. This just makes you look insane.

I remember when all you intellectually challenged conservatives were declaring that your faux god would pick the right man for the job. Well, now that the election is over, how do you feel about your faux god now? Please, I'd love a nice answer to that one!

@Indiana Voter...you expressed my sentiments as well. I really thought President Obama would be different but he does seem to be following in Jimmy Carter's footsteps. Everyone knows (I didn't go to an Ivy League School) that if you raise taxes in a recession that those who do the hiring, who are now paying more taxes, are going to stop hiring to make up for the difference in taxes they are being forced to pay.

Everyone said George Bush did a horrible job and I will agree in many areas he did do a horrible job. However, he despite 9/11 and 2 wars still cut taxes and for 61/2 years the economy was running along fine. It was when the democratic congress took over that the economy went south based on the mortage mess. Remember both John McCain and President Bush asked Congress to visit the mortage situation and was told "if it ain't broke don't fix it". Well dems it was broke and now its in so make pieces, the question is do we have enough glue to fix it?

CNN is at it again with a very misleading headline. There are local government agencies all across the country that are keeping police, teachers, etc. that they had planned to lay-off before the Recovery Act was signed. A lot of jobs have been saved already because of President Obama.

Beevee... yes, look at the stock market. Its a direct result of Obama's socialistic anti-business policies! And its the reason I'm holding on to my money for that dark, dark day (not far off) when Obam's policies lead us to bankruptcy. Dont you DARE ask me to cooperate with this socialist, nay, communist, President we have. He has not earned my respect nor my confidence. I will give him every ounce of respect that the left-wing zealots gave President Bush the last eight years.

    Great !

We will need more police to arrest the many people that will be stealing food because they lost their retirement income or don’t have a job NOW. If they aren’t jailed, at least they will have free healthcare to diagnose their malnutrition…

    Thanks, Mister Obama !

    It’s your fault…

Created 25 and we lost 650K. I'd say he was moving us in the wrong direction on jobs.

    Noel,

I'm surprised you can do math! Or did you copy it from someone? Doesn't matter I guess because reasoning with you will just confuse you... How can anyone in their right mind expect things to be changed overnight? Just because I go through the bank and do all the paperwork to get a loan to build a house and they agree to it doesn’t mean the house will be built overnight!

Dear CNN: While this is true-this is a very mean title. Whether it's 25 jobs SAVED or 2500 ITS STILL JOBS SAVED AND NOT LOST. I'm sure those cadets are happy with the outcome. At least its a step in the right direction.

  24. Lush Limprick & Osama bin Laden have the same vision for America - FAILURE!

Every job saves someone/a family some pain.

This is just like all the dittoheads crabbin' about 13 a week. But add that times 100 million and you have a minimum of 1.3 B hitting the economy that would not have without the stimulus plan.

Try to see beyond your selfish interests, petty taunts and whining, and look at the bigger picture.

Kudos CNN: Knowing that 99% of the blog trolls on this site read nothing but the headline and then rant accordingly, you sure did a fantastic job of generating a horrifyingly misleading headline for this article.
