Chuck Norris for president … of Texas

[cnn-photo-caption image= caption="If the State of Texas ever left the Union, Chuck Norris is interested in being president of the newly independent country."] (CNN) – Actor Chuck Norris has his eyes on the presidency, but not the White House. Norris wrote that he would be interested in becoming the president of Texas, if the state were ever to secede from the Union.

“I may run for president of Texas,” Norris wrote Monday in a column posted at WorldNetDaily. “That need may be a reality sooner than we think. If not me, someone someday may again be running for president of the Lone Star state, if the state of the union continues to turn into the enemy of the state.”

The actor claimed “thousands of cell groups will be united around the country in solidarity over the concerns for our nation” and said that if states decide to secede from the union, that Texas would lead the way.

“Anyone who has been around Texas for any length of time knows exactly what we'd do if the going got rough in America,” Norris wrote.

“Let there be no doubt about that.” Norris was a strong supporter of Mike Huckabee’s presidential bid, and he helped to draw attention to the former Arkansas governor’s campaign.

You people of course realize that if Chuck Norris and Glenn Beck are in fact being serious about this he could be executed under the Smith Act of 1940, right?

Or they're both full of hot air, no such "cells" exist, and this is another excuse for liberals, moderates, and conservatives who love their country to roll their eyes.

I've heard more anti American BS in Obama's first 50 days than I did during the entire eight years of the most criminal administration in the history of the nation. Maybe Chuck Norris would like to buy or perhaps capture some folks to work in the grounds of the Texas capital. This guy out goofies Rush and Bill O

I liked the old chuck before he lost his frigging mind. These right wing types are so pathetic. They enjoy and participate in our republic, but as soon as everything isn't going exactly how they want, they start throwing fits like spoiled children. Just get this into your thick heads, Texas will always be a part of the U.S. and all your doing is blowing hot air. Go ahead and try a domestic revolt to pull away from the rest of the country and see what happens.

The core of the republican party is showing it's true colors. The nuttiest people in our country. I would take a hippy any day over these crazies.

I don't necessarilly agree with what Chuck is saying, but maybe he's on to something.

The American way of life established by our founding fathers and defended by many of our fellow countryman is under attack by both the far left and far right. Is the next American Revolution at hand?

And please, if you cannot be civil with your posts/replies, don't bother.

Chuck can't be president of Texas, he was born in Oklahoma, hence no Texan citizenship.

It's nice to know that all the people who hate America live in Texas. Now there is good reason to nuke it... Or at least put all of them in GTMO for some undefined period.

I've always thought that the terrorists America needs to be worried about are the terrorists that will come from within. Timothy McVeigh comes to mind, and now Chuck Norris advocating state secession and overthrow of the federal government. God save us from American terrorists first.

Chuck, why don't you take advantage of one of the best freedoms we have here in this country. You are FREE to leave any time you like. Somehow I think we will all survive without you and anyone else that doesn't like it here.

Send him to the prison in GITMO and find the rest of these cells or maybe he is talking about the GOP itself as one of these cells. Maybe it is too ealry to close the prison in GITMO and we need to start looking for these domestic cells he speaks about. Maybe he can be put in the same cell with bin Laden's driver.

To Mick in Mesa : Why do you want to give us away and what's up with the name calling. The majority of Texans are proud Americans and proud Texans. Just because one nut wants us to leave the union shouldnt make the whole state look bad. It worked when we gained our freedom from Mexico but right now Chuck Norris as President of Texas...give me a break.
