Chuck Norris for president … of Texas

[cnn-photo-caption image= http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2009/images/03/11/art.norris0311.gi.jpg caption="If the State of Texas ever left the Union, Chuck Norris is interested in being president of the newly independent country."] (CNN) – Actor Chuck Norris has his eyes on the presidency, but not the White House. Norris wrote that he would be interested in becoming the president of Texas, if the state were ever to secede from the Union.

“I may run for president of Texas,” Norris wrote Monday in a column posted at WorldNetDaily. “That need may be a reality sooner than we think. If not me, someone someday may again be running for president of the Lone Star state, if the state of the union continues to turn into the enemy of the state.”

The actor claimed “thousands of cell groups will be united around the country in solidarity over the concerns for our nation” and said that if states decide to secede from the union, that Texas would lead the way.

“Anyone who has been around Texas for any length of time knows exactly what we'd do if the going got rough in America,” Norris wrote.

“Let there be no doubt about that.” Norris was a strong supporter of Mike Huckabee’s presidential bid, and he helped to draw attention to the former Arkansas governor’s campaign.

I used to have a lot of respect for Chuck Norris. He seemed to be such a tolerant perdon. Wow, what a surprise. I have lost all respect for old Chuck

With a state with the likes of George Bush and Chuck Norris- Not a bad idea. Yeah, let's get rid of them. Maybe Rush, Coulter, Rove, O'Reilly, and the others can join them.

I agree with Chuck Norris, but don't leave the union by yourself Texas. There are plenty of conservative southern states that would love to leave also.

Actually, statements of this nature are not funny. The question was settled 150 years ago with the lose of more American lives than any other war in our nations history.

Conservatives are SO patriotic - unless they're not in power. Then they call for a military coup (and, ipso facto, followed by an authoritarian dictatorship) in order to PRESERVE their idea of our democratic way of life.

Treason anyone? Way to support your country, you flippin moron. And guys like him are the first to start waving flags and claiming patriotism when it suits them. What a helpful, useful guy Chuck Norris is. Too bad his buddy Huck wasn't president, I'm sure this sort of thinking would be doing wonders for the worls right now....

I was born and raised in East Texas and I can't believe Chuck Norris is so ignorant as to say such a thing.

Hey Chuck, my big brother served in Vietnam and he thinks you are a disgrace to your state and your country.

    SHAME ON YOU, CHUCK NORRIS.

  24. Sid...Texas

To start with, Texas has no intention of ever seceding from the USA. Even the thought of Chuck Norris being the President of Texas is definitely a joke that is not funny. He is bad enough playing a Texas Ranger. He even wears a black hat. No Ranger wears a black hat, let alone kicks bad guys through brick walls 3 at a time. Darn, my system is being torn apart trying to laugh out loud, and puke at the same time. It's bad enough having had the last 2 governors that Texas has experienced. We don't want GWB back again either, Please spare Texas of any such fate.....

I love everything about Texas but I am here in Ohio with responsibilities and can't leave! I really love the Kerrville area! Can a home owner secede from the Union? We have about a 1/4 acre of land, can I become my own Country? I know that I work, I know I am financially solvent, I don't buy anything I can't pay cash for! I think I can afford to live without the government in my life!
