Chuck Norris for president … of Texas

[cnn-photo-caption image= caption="If the State of Texas ever left the Union, Chuck Norris is interested in being president of the newly independent country."] (CNN) – Actor Chuck Norris has his eyes on the presidency, but not the White House. Norris wrote that he would be interested in becoming the president of Texas, if the state were ever to secede from the Union.

“I may run for president of Texas,” Norris wrote Monday in a column posted at WorldNetDaily. “That need may be a reality sooner than we think. If not me, someone someday may again be running for president of the Lone Star state, if the state of the union continues to turn into the enemy of the state.”

The actor claimed “thousands of cell groups will be united around the country in solidarity over the concerns for our nation” and said that if states decide to secede from the union, that Texas would lead the way.

“Anyone who has been around Texas for any length of time knows exactly what we'd do if the going got rough in America,” Norris wrote.

“Let there be no doubt about that.” Norris was a strong supporter of Mike Huckabee’s presidential bid, and he helped to draw attention to the former Arkansas governor’s campaign.

    Mr. Norris:
In the USA, we call people like you traitors.
are you a veteran? I suspect NOT
    God bless the USA

If attention is paid to his bio than yes, the bearded one is a Veteran....The left is outraged over his comments, yet can support Hanoi Jane in spite of her more grievous misdeeds. Sean Penn's fact finding mission in Iraq brought no facts only comfort to those who seek to convert by the sword. Oliver Stone gives credibility to the fat paratrooper in Venezuela who huffs to puff no houses down, but to make them government owned. I think this stinks of liberal relief, relief in knowing that they are not the only ones that make outrageous statements. Only bearded roundhouse did nothing to hurt the country, but none of you can see that.

OK fine. Let them secede. Only this time when Mexico invades Texas, the US won't come to its aid and we'll just let Mexico take it back. Then we'll all see what Chuck Norris has to say about that. Wanna bet he'll be on his knees in Washington DC begging for help? What a dumb turd.

Treason? Sedition? Since when did having a controversial opinion win you a seat in front of a firing squad?

We, the multitudes of the working taxpayers are behind you. Let the Revolution begin. It will be the liberals that cut and run.

Considering Texas is one of the many Red "conservative" States that gets more tax money from the government than they create, I say good riddance.

What ignorance. Ever wonder why blue states are the heart soul and money making engine of our economy?

Look: however much the left leaning Americans despised GW Bush and his cohorts, no one ever suggested that California or New York on the states of New England leave the Union. No left leaning American during the era of GOP dominance ever talked about "cells" who would oppose the government. Now that we have a left leaning government in the states, it is horrific and down right terrifying that rightists would either consider secession or use the language of the terrorists (cells). Liberal Democrats won this election in the best traditions of the USA - through the DEMOCRATIC PROCESS. They won in the Presidential race, the Congressional races and the local legislative races. Chuck - it is time to let someone else try their turn at governing and should they not do a good job - yes, through the DEMOCRATIC PROCESS they can be voted out of office.

  9. Mike from New Jersey

When I first read this I felt sad and scared. Sometimes our leaders aren't great, but I'm sure they try their best. I am a democrat, and voted for Obama. However, if McCain won I would stand by him and his decissions as president. Neither McCain or Obama (to my knowledge) ever mentioned about splitting off any part of the united states. When I die I want to know our country is safe and whole. Eventhough I'm from new jersey I would feel very sad if Texas seceded from the Union. I hope most Texan's feel the same way about New Jersey. When I was younger I use to like Chuck Norris's movies and thought he was a good guy. But now, after reading about him saying this garbage, I will never support him or watch his movies again. It is a horrible thing to say! Mr Norris: if you don't like our country, as it is, please feel free to move elsewhere. Try Iran, they love Amercan hatters there!

Actually scratch the first part, thelaw about being able to sucees is considered a grey area in constitutional law. Its been argued over for a long time from what I am reading now but the constitution clearly reads that individual states are to govern their own people with its on laws. Big brother government was never the intention of our four fathers. Our country was founded by men like chuck who got sick and tired of Great brittain and all her crap I am in the military and I say our government is way to powerful and should be brought back down to its roots. Its time the people stood up for moral values .

Sounds as though some of you are threatening violence against Texas if they chose to secede. Lincoln blatantly violated the Constitution by denying the South's choice of secession. For the sedition charged in another post, The Smith Act has been used against socialist and communist organization in this country. Who is committing sedition here?

    @indy 08 –

If they were going to make arrests for treason, they'd have to start with Obama, followed by liberal fans...idiots like you have gone against the American way, and voted in someone that holds contempt for this nation.

Norris' comments reflect the opinions of the MAJORITY of the citizens of this country; not the minority of liberals who gained control of the media....the country's still right-center, and will defeat liberalism because it has no spine.
