Chuck Norris for president … of Texas

[cnn-photo-caption image= caption="If the State of Texas ever left the Union, Chuck Norris is interested in being president of the newly independent country."] (CNN) – Actor Chuck Norris has his eyes on the presidency, but not the White House. Norris wrote that he would be interested in becoming the president of Texas, if the state were ever to secede from the Union.

“I may run for president of Texas,” Norris wrote Monday in a column posted at WorldNetDaily. “That need may be a reality sooner than we think. If not me, someone someday may again be running for president of the Lone Star state, if the state of the union continues to turn into the enemy of the state.”

The actor claimed “thousands of cell groups will be united around the country in solidarity over the concerns for our nation” and said that if states decide to secede from the union, that Texas would lead the way.

“Anyone who has been around Texas for any length of time knows exactly what we'd do if the going got rough in America,” Norris wrote.

“Let there be no doubt about that.” Norris was a strong supporter of Mike Huckabee’s presidential bid, and he helped to draw attention to the former Arkansas governor’s campaign.

Good – take Texas as well as the entire South – they produce nothing, they contribute nothing, and they know nothing (except having babies)!

Looks like the toughest guy on TV turns out to be a turn tail and run loser. Texas can't leave the union. We'd have to change all the flags. And if Texas left, where would you put it Chuck? Oh, I know where. Where the sun don't shine.

It's the UNITED states of America. Winners stick together no matter how hard it gets.

Kommandant Obama is making this more and more likely for many states.......unthinkable in the past but not sounding so bad anymore.

Is he an idiot? This is why all celebrities need to stay out of politics. They are no smarter than the average person. Shut up Chuck Norris, go away.

    @ Bill, LA

You're living proof that Southern Conservatives are still fighting the Civil War.

To the rest of you conservatards – Is this sedition? Is it treason? Or is this type of talk only OK when its you're a Republican?

Norris is an idiot! Just what this country needs right now – another looney nut case who thinks like the terrorists on the other side of the world. This guy isn't even a decent actor - we don't need another loser in politics. We need good, honest hard working people who don't scream "fire" in a movie theatre because they think it's funny. Aren't "cells" a part of the terrorist network that Norris' "god" GW screamed about for 8 years while running our country into the ground financially & morally? Retire Chucky. Besides, everyone knows we've had very few short guys for president. The odds are against you in so many ways!

Chuck, didn't you know that Texas cannot secede from the union? What would you do as prez anyway, get somebody to stand in for you when the real action begins, like in your TV show? I used to be an extra on your show, so I know.

Let's just make Chuck king of Texas and cut it free to float in the Gulf where he and his minions can rule. They can play "Invasion USA" all day.

Sounds like ol' Chuck forgot his headgear during all those practice kickboxing bouts.

Norris is a traitor who should be charged, tried and sent to jail for 20 years OR keep his mouth shut.

  18. Wow

Funny conservatives are allowed to say this stuff when a moderate is running the white house. Im sure theres something in the Patriot Act that would make Chuck's comments illegal, but thats ok. Those laws are only meant to apply to liberal god-hating Americans like John Kerry. Give me a break.

The Republicans got us in this mess and know that they have lost power they want to secceed. Only the Republicans in Texas's feels that way. We almost turned Blue this year. There are way to many Democrats and Independents for Norris and the Republicans to exibit that kinda power. Norris you are as boring as your TV shows. 'The Republicans are Cryin, The Republicans are Cryin, The Republicans are Cryin" I did not get my way were leaving. Well then go, but leave our Great state of Texas alone. Us true Texans are also True Americans. Norris is not a True American. He is a Coward.

Yeah, Texas can secede from the Union if it wants too. But it doesn't want too!

But what I find really funny is that Chuck is not even from Texas!!!! He is a wanna be Texas native!!!! He is actually from Oklahoma and lived in California so he needs to stop talking for us!!!

If he really wants to secede from the Union then he should move up to Alaska with the Palins!!!!

    Texas born and Texas Proud!!!!

Why do rightwing crybabies like Chuck hate America? BTW, Chuck remember what happened last time you rednecks tried to secede? That's right: We marched on your cities and burned them to the ground. Good luck with that.

It's not illegal to secede. For some states, a way out was actually part of the deal when they joined the union.

Sounds like domestic terrorism...another fine example of the far right reaches of today's Republican Party! Luckily old Chuck is not the brightest bulb in the box and every time he speaks he proves that point.

Norris needs to move up to Alaska with Palin.

Oh my God, What genious thought this up? This would solve so many problems at once. Actually Texas is the only state that reserves the right to break away legally from the Union. No war needed. That would be the best way to solve the problems with the electoral college too. God Speed President Norris. Maybe Mike Huckabee could be his vice- Chuck and Huck I love it.
