[cnn-photo-caption image= http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2009/images/03/17/art.palin1.cnn.jpg caption="It remains unclear if Palin is set to address congressional Republicans in June."]WASHINGTON (CNN) - Congressional Republican leaders made headlines on Monday when they announced that Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin would be the keynote speaker at a major fundraising dinner in June. But it appears the former vice presidential nominee's political staff never told her.
Bill McAllister, a spokesman for the governor, said she was aware of the invitation, but that she had not actually accepted it.
"I communicated with the governor directly and she did not know anything about it," McAllister told the Anchorage Daily News in a story published Tuesday. "I pointed out the (National Republican Senatorial Committee) press release and she was like, 'No.'"
The dispute appears to stem from a miscommunication between Palin's gubernatorial staff and aides that work for her political action committee, SarahPAC. Palin created SarahPAC in part to pay for out-of-state political travel.
NRSC spokeswoman Amber Wilkerson said the booking was approved by SarahPAC, but that the governor's staff had not been made aware.
McAllister told CNN that "the governor herself had not confirmed," but left open the possibility that she will still speak at the fundraiser. "As far as I know, it's still under review," he said in an e-mail.
Palin has kept a relatively low national profile since the November elections. She did attend the exclusive, closed-press Alfafa Club Dinner, where she met President Obama. But the governor decided against attending both the National Governor's Association meeting and the Conservative Political Action Conference in February.
Maybe Palin needs to focus on her job as Alaska Governor instead of campaigning all over the country for her 2012 WH bid.
Apparently Silly Sarah's not getting as much cash as she would like to appear at the republican event so, she's holding out for more. After all, she still has to feed her daughter's out-of-wedlock child.
And this deserves headlines?
CNN, your love of Palin, Cheney and Limbaugh is getting tiresome.
You need to report what is important.
News alert – Obama's Treasury Secretary was not on the same page with the President this weekend when he said that the AIG bonuses could not be circumvented because they were contractual. Obama came out Monday announcing that Geithner had been directed to look at all legal means to stop the payouts - which already happened on Friday...
Now THAT is news about a miscommunication that actually matters to the American public.
If they can't get Sarah Palin, why not hire Tina Fey and just don't tell anyone?
When Sarah is finished with her term as governor she should go back to her roots of journialist. I am sure FOX would hire her. There are not enough hate mongers on that channel.
Did anyone notice that SarahPAC has been created "in part to pay for out-of-state political travel"? At least she is no longer sticking Alaskans with the bill so she can drag her kids to non-political events.
wait a minute...she and her staff can't pull it together to book her as a keynote speaker for an event?? but she runs a state, and was qualified to serve as Vice President of the U.S!? give me a break!

What a bunch of dummies. Now we really know why the rethugs are in trouble. My dog is smarter than the republicans.
I swear, she is the Kato Kailin of politics. No one knows why she's famous–she just is. Serves me just fine, though. As long as she is the front-runner and ol' Ox E. Cotton is running the GOP, we can be sure of a Democratic majority for years to come. I wonder if Rush knows he is gaining listeners at the expense of his party's future or if he actually thinks he's saving the party.
Palin's pathetic poll performance in 2008 has still not been put away and now she peaks at another poltical platform, thanks to her pals.
Please, somebody pay attention and stop and pause at this playful pranks of, possibly, an encore presentation by Palin.
I just wanted to get in something nice about Sarah before the bashing began.
Amazing. sounds like Sara is playing smart this one. and stay away from her party for now. and take care of the Alaska situation that no one is talking about. The budget came up SHORT. so good for her. cause if she wants to run. will be real hard explaining why alasaka of all places had a messed up budget.
Another example of the GOP imploding...
GREAT, with Sarah Palin at the forefront, the GOP has surely proven they are the party of the "delusional". The mere fact the GOP is highlighting Sarah Palin, just proves how sweet the icing on the Democratic cake is going to taste come 2012.
Just another Republican blunder.........it probably got hung-up getting Rush Limbaugh's approval. Morons!
So what! I think most people are tired of the Palins. Move on.
The comedians are awaiting the return of Palin...all she's good for is some very good laughs.
wow..and to think the republican party is coming down on the Obama administration when they can't even organize something as small as an appearance of one of their stars.
nice!
It seems that the repubs don't even communicate with each other either. But they can spew hate for anything or any one they don't like..
Completely disorganized.
Sarah – just stay out of the limelight for a while.
Quietly go back to college and get a degree in political science and economics (you have 4 years to brush up), then come oit with a new language (the mean and nasty rhetoric does not suit a true Christian). Then and only then you'll stand a chance to get my Independent vote in 2016.
I think you're smart, a fast learner and you could be a good president if you prepare yourself and get out of the Republican gutter..
Here we go again:
Another round of "gotcha" journalism from the Palin/Republican camp.
Making commitments before anyone has figured out how to keep them? Sarah, it sounds like the Democrats have infiltrated your staff!!
"Palin has kept a relatively low national profile since the November elections."
No, she hung around for a little while, all of a sudden doing interviews before someone explained to it be best if she would GO AWAY to improve her image. As if that will help.
If it is trash or slander CNN Political Producers and CNN writers are the ones to contact. they do not miss a beat to down Republicans or those less foutunate. Obama is their God and one day their God will not know them because they will become obsolete. the way Cnn bashes Palin, and now McCain;s daughter lets me know that satan is alive and well on planet earth.
