Cheney belongs in jail, says Dreyfus

[cnn-photo-caption image= http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2009/images/03/19/art.dreyfus.gi.jpg caption="Dreyfus was in Washington to promote preservation of Civil War battlefields."](CNN) - He played Dick Cheney in the recent Oliver Stone film 'W,' but Richard Dreyfuss made clear he's no fan of the former vice president.

In Washington Wednesday to promote preservation of the country's civil war battlefields, Dreyfuss quipped to Politico he's not missing former President Bush's No. 2.

"I miss having him in jail, that's where he belongs," the actor said.

Watch: Cheney: I worry very much

Dreyfuss is known for his outspokenness across the political spectrum, calling his former director Oliver Stone a "fascist on the left" last fall.

Cheney himself isn't holding back punches of his own. In an interview on CNN's State of the Union with John King last Sunday, he derided the Obama administration's national security policies and said they have made the country less safe.

I agree with Dreyfus. Cheney actually thinks he did nothing wrong.

    CHENEY SHOULD BE IN JAIL.
4200 US troops have died; 10,000 US troops disabled in Iraq war; Economy is in Shambles; Roads, bridges and levees are in dilapidated condition; Jobs are gone; Heath care is bleak; Budget deficit is the greatest ever and American image in the world is downgraded.
Yet! This Idiot does not stop speaking. He never did anything in 8 years. Now he has no face, basis or standing to speak. He should just shut up. He is a shameless Jerk.

Obama should be in jail. He is no better than Madoff. He's robbing the taxpayers of this country to give to non tax paying individuals and corporate greed. He lied to the American people that he got to vote for him when he asked for a chance to change this country. He's more underhanded than the last administration. I'm sick of seeing him on television trying to win the support of Americans through his smooth talking. He has no substance and is bankrupting this country.

Oh well, if Richard Dreyfus says we should do so, then lets.

Cheney has publicly boasted about the government performing illegal torture with his full knowledge and consent. He contributed to outing a CIA agent. This is a matter of public record, and he should be held accountable.

Put him in jail for what? Did he do something illegal? I would think if that was the case, he would already be brought up charges. Dick Cheney did nothing illegal. You may have read somewhere that he did, or maybe saw it on t.v., but the facts are, according to the laws of this country, he is not guilty of anything. You whiny little liberal punk. HAHAHA.

P.S. To bad all of your films since JAWS were horrible.

We should all get our political opinions from glamorous Hollywood celebrities.

Why isn't Cheny in jail yet? Does our constitution matter at all? what about our international conventions? Do you that oppose war crimes and the rest of the long long list of crimes committed by these men want Obama to have the SAME powers that Bush and Cheney gave themselves?

Gee, when did it become possible to just "name who you want to be in jail," or is that just reserved for top actors?

The man is entitled to his opinion, but everyone is entitled to their day in court on specific charges; even top actors.

It's too bad no one gives a crap about what actors say. We pay you to preform, not open your mouths about politics.

  14. All I have to say is..

    well said Mr. Dreyfus.

I am surprised that the law isn't doing anything about Cheney's crimes. But then again, he has so much power, he could do the most terrible crimes in the world and no one would do anything about it.

He is a perfect example of actions without accountability. The perfect poster child of the last administration.

Still wishing Dreyfus and the rest of our Hollywood elite would have left the country as they threatened to do when Bush was elected. Their misguided beliefs will end up being a big problem for Obama's administration at some point

Exactly. Cheney reminds me of one of those power-hungry villans in the movies that wants to rule the world. buah ha ha ha. Pretty scary that he had so much power for so long. Hopefully we have learned a collective lesson.

I still wonder what makes celebrities think that anyone cares about their opinions on politics or global warming or any topic outside their vapid existance. I guess playing a role in a movie makes them 'uniquely qualified' to comment on real life. maybe the next time they go to a physician they should actually visit an actor who played a physician in a movie for a diagnosis.
