Jennifer Granholm made the joke at a Washington dinner on Saturday."]WASHINGTON (CNN) - Michigan Gov. Jennifer Granholm said she won't apologize to Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin for her crack at last weekend's Gridiron Dinner that the former Republican vice presidential candidate "really set back the cause of hot governors."
At the exclusive Washington dinner on Saturday, which was packed with top elected officials, Granholm also used the quip to needle Pennsylvania's governor. "You know where I'm coming from, Ed Rendell," she said.
A Michigan reporter asked Granholm if she planned to apologize to Palin, according to a Tuesday report in the Detroit News.
"No," Granholm said. "It was all in good fun."
Despite positive reviews for her comedy routine, Granholm said the she was a bit out of her element in the role.
"I'm not a stand-up. It was a bit of a stretch for me," she said.
Granholm played the role of Palin in Joe Biden's vice presidential debate prep sessions last year.
Lighten up. It was a joke.
Oh please, Palin needs to apologize to President Obama for the "palling around remark"...
Stand strong Gov. Granholm
does nobody have a sense of humor anymore or is it CNN's need to report every mole hill that has any potential to become a mountain?
Here's a good palin joke:
Governor Palin runs for VP in 2008!
ROFL!!!
Good, I'm glad she is not apologizing. Isn't that what the dinner was all about?
Give me a break – Sarah Palin charged that Barack Obama "paled around with terrorists" during the recent campaign, and essentially got away with it (it didn't help her cause certainly). So now somebody else is being accused of saying "mean" things about Sarah? (Laugh out Loud!)
Gov Palin is good for the GOP-I'm so glad for her and for the 65,000 who said no to President Obama being at Notre Dame's commencement. Maybe, now someone other than the far left will be listened to
Jenny is bitter that she cannot run for President because she was born in Canada and thus cannot ever become the first female POTUS. And that is documented and beyond dispute, unlike the case of the Messiah.
apologize for what??????
The press has waaaaayyyyyyyy too much time on their hands. Why don't they go and investigate bush and cheney's crime for the last eight years....
Good for her.. Did anyone ask Palin to take back her comments about President Obama at one of the roast dinners.. NO.. Don't take anything back, it's all in good FUN....
This is great news!! A liberal with an actual sense of humor! Such a nice change from the angry, shrill, hateful, rabid, morose buggers that make up most of her party. Now if we can just get them all to smile once in a while, inject them with a healthy dose of common sense, and get them to see the errors of their ways, they might not be such an abhorrent group of sore winners.
Of course! Why would she?
Democrats enjoy a double standard in America?
Even when they are wrong no one holds them accountable!
I live in MI and I'm ashamed of our gov saying that. Stupid gov. Palin is ahem, way better in, uh, govt. Granholm needs to help us instead of making weird/cruel comments.
She owes Palin no apology. Did Palin ever apoligize for accusing our president of "palin around with terrorists?" Palin is vile creature who has set back women's issues about 100 years.
Surely Granholm doesn't think she's hot does she. Palin yes, her no...
this won't be a big deal unless the media decides to make it one.
Look, I'm not a Palin supporter, didn't vote for McCain, and generally approve people picking fun at candidates and Palin was no exception. But, as a straight man, I have to say–Granholm only wishes she was as hot as Palin. Palin is vastly hotter than Granholm, even with the annoying voice.
i'm still waiting for republicans to apologize for placing Sarah Palin in a position where she might possibly become the leader for the free world...
Obama 2012
the headlines should read "Granholm not apologizing that Palin's a Joke." Still Jenny would fair pretty well against Sarah in a walkoff.
It was the Gridiron for bleep's sake. Who cares. Get over it already.
Little Rock, AR
Both Palin and Granholm live in a country where we supposedly have free speech. Palin doesn't deserve an apology. If you can't play with the big dogs, stay on the porch.
Mz Granholm thinks she has a future because of the unions in Michigan.
Well, as the PRIMARY economy of Michigan goes down the toilet I don't think she will be too far behind.
Besides, it wasn't a matter of joking...it was a matter of poor taste.
Seems to be the predominate factor of the Dems at the present.
Their day is coming....and sooner than they think.
She and Dodd have much in common....all mouth and no substance!
DOUBLE STANDARD FOR DEMOCRATS
they can dish, but can't take it.............socialist scum that are destroying our country!!!
Why should she apoligize?????????
What investment does the media have in this side show, find some real unbias news!
please! with all the insults from Palin and company, this joke was nothing more than a joke that need not be retracted or apologized over.
