Bachmann bill would prohibit global currency

Bachmann has already been assured that the United States will not adopt another currency.

WASHINGTON (CNN) - Rep. Michele Bachmann has introduced a bill that would prohibit the president from signing on to a global currency, despite congressional testimony from Obama administration officials that they would reject any proposal to replace the dollar.

In hearings earlier this week, the Republican congresswoman called on Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke and Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner to denounce the idea that the United States might adopt any other currency. Both men did.

Bachmann's bill, introduced Wednesday, proposes a constitutional amendment "to prohibit the President from entering into a treaty or other international agreement that would provide for the United States to adopt as legal tender in the United States a currency issued by an entity other than the United States."

During Tuesday's hearing, Bachmann pointed to recent remarks from Russia and China as part of the basis for her concern - comments suggesting that countries which have used the dollar as their reserve currency might begin to consider other sources. But those decisions, which would be made by foreign governments, would be unaffected by any congressional legislation, and would have no impact on U.S. currency decisions.

Bachmann's bill has been referred to the Judiciary Committee.

    Here we go..

Bachmann who stuck her foot in her big hateful mouth during the presidential campaign and almost lost her seat because of it is back to trolling for divisive wedge issues to play partisan politics with instead of working to resolve the challenges that she helped create as one of the accolytes of our former president.

To the citizens of the sixth congressional district of Minnesota...really? Is this the best you have to offer?

This Republican grandstander is writing a law to prohibit something that no one in America has proposed and no one in America would accept.

No one is burning flags so why no flag burning amendment? How about an anti-vampire law? Why don't we prohibit Martians from haunting houses? After all, there are no Martians and there is no such thing as a haunted house. What about a proposal to prevent bakers from selling concrete cupcakes.

    Give me a break.

The only reason she is proposing this bill is because she is a Right Wing Christian nut who read somewhere in the Book of Revelations that the AntiChrist, when in power, proposes a single currency for the world to share.

Somebody please remind rep. Bachmann that there already is legislation that prohibits the President from entering into treaties without the approval of two-thirds of the Senate.
    It's called the U.S. Constitution.
