Obama team deploys campaign tactics to get point across

[cnn-photo-caption image= caption="President Obama held an online town hall, in which people could send in questions from their computers."]

WASHINGTON (CNN) - From fielding questions online, to the staging of events across the country, to deploying thousands of volunteers, President Obama and Democrats are using the same tools that helped them win the White House to push the administration's agenda.

Supporters say the same tactics used during the campaign also work to educate Americans about the president's proposed budget and the stimulus plan.

Political experts say in order for Obama to keep his approval ratings high, he will need his agenda to be successful. To do that, they say, he and the White House will need to keep up the sales job.

The legions of volunteer supporters from the 2008 election are key to that effort. Democrats have a database of more than 13 million e-mail addresses and are eager to harness that support.

The Democratic National Committee has formed a new group called Organizing For America. Last weekend, it organized 10,000 volunteers to canvass across the country to get 100,000 people to pledge support for the administration's policies.

"We are not an electoral organization. I mean this is really about legislative advocacy and so we are going to continue supporting the president's agenda and we are not looking at 2010, and we are not looking at 2012," Mitch Stewart, executive director of Organizing for America, told CNN. "What we are looking at what kind of grassroots organization can best support the president's agenda."

He has to use campaign tactics and go directly to the millions of idots who voted for him so he can keep his train wreck rolling. It does appear that some of the "blinded by the smile voters" are beginning to wake up and see what this guy is made of . This guy is like a five year old in toysRus with daddys credit card. Unfortunately WE are the ones paying for it becuase his daddy left home.

So, what if one of these organizers come to your door and you refuse to pledge your support for his agenda? Are you labelled and blacklisted? This guy is getting really scary...

He's still using the same tactics he used in the campaign – lies and hypocrisy.

Obama is a fraud, a pretender, and his policies are reckless and harmful to the future of this country. Personally, I'd like to see him impeached, or to resign before he injures this country any more. His promises of change were a lie. His campaign promises – all lies. He is just an inexperienced junior senator milking the system for all he can get. Obama will go down as the absolute worst president and most imcompetent president of all time -–

If their " plan " was working and was popular with the American people, they wouldn't have to take such desperate, low-minded, political measures try and sell it.
But, Obama is a more desperate man now that he's increasingly disgruntling his base by refusing to legalize drugs, and by extending the war in Afghanistan.

Well he did say change didn't he? This part of the change I kind of like it because it keeps me informed.

What other choice does he have? The media and the republicans continue to lie about his budget and his policies. Take it straight to the people, Mr. President!

Mike in Seatlle, This is yet another lie. There is NO money for ACORN in the stimulus. Please read the bill before repeating the haters talking points. You sound like a fool.

I am wondering when Obama will stop campaigning and start being a president. This constant, non-stop self-promotion is almost scary, like something out of Orwell's 1984 and the ever-present Big Brother.

Campaining continues after he has tricked America into voting for him, seriously after seeing how the left is treating their fellow Americans all that is left is for the leader to grow a mustashe.

For me, it's inspiring to listen to a man who actually has an idea how to be a leader. I say give him a chance.

I think it's great. He's a smart and effective leader who has the tools to remind other politicians that the American public is behind him. I'm looking forward to putting pressure on my elected officials on his behalf.

I'm sick and tired of all these republicans who wrecked the country now saying they know how to fix things.

I support the President and I want to know what he's thinking and what I can do to help, so it is very good for him to communicate using any means available. I also want him to listen to me, and the technology allows that as well. If enough of us tell Obama he'll listen. Posting bills online before signing. Everyone should be emailing to make sure he does this. I want to see the discussion of health care on CSPAN. He's only been in office a short time, so I'm going to give him 3 or 4 more months. On the hand, I promised to help Obama by helping my community and I haven't been doing to much, so it is hard to criticize Obama when I'm not working that hard to help my community.

I can tell from your comments that none of you have taken the time to visit President Obama's website. If you had you would have a better understanding of what President Obama wants to accomplish for this great country. Instead you stoop to personal attacks, how pathetic! This country needs serious people with serious solutions so if you have nothing better to offer, SHUT UP and take your pettiness to Fixed News.

President Obama won in a land slide election because "Most" of America support and agree with his idea's. It's pretty funny that people are still whining about the community organizer , i guess some folks just don't learn the lesson.

What a bunch of miserable complainers that post here. There has been lots of chatter about what is going on at CNN and how they have become a right leaning network. The more I read comments the more I believe it. Some of you must have pretty miserable lives to have become such haters. Where were you all when the torture administration was in power. You all must have slept through the last 8 years. 911 happened on their watch. The Wall St meltdown happened on their watch. They spent trillions and none of it here at home. What is wrong with you people? I'd bet you call yourselves Christians. You betcha, also.

Pres. Obama says everything that is wrong was caused by that last guy, but Obama voted for TARP.

Pres. Obama says he will cut deficit in half, but proposes budgets with largest deficits ever.

    Keep the change, thank you.

Of course the administration will employ the same political tactics that got Obama elected. This is ALL he knows–nothing else. If your house was flooding from a plumbing leak, would you hire a plumber who knew what he was doing, or would you hire a known novice who talked a good game, but whom you knew not to be a plumber?
This is a good analogy, folks, and our house is flooding.

Regardless of the method or people used, isnt it a good thing for a president to reach out to the voters and pitch his plan? We will hear what he has to say and decide whether or not the plan is any good. But perhaps he should do nothing except work and talk with the politicians. Obama's most vocal Republican critics have forgotten that populists do this kind of thing... including Republican populists.

This man has been in office just over two months and is dealing with problems created FOR him largely by rightwing "free marketers." Look around you and see what you "free marketers" have created – Madoff, AIG, MCI, Enron.... ad naseum.

Didn't you get enough in the last 8 years?

Key word...."sales job". All this "campaigning" will get very old very fast to the American people. You only have to "convince" people to support something when there's something wrong with it. Never, in the history of this country, has spending and growing government turned around the economy. NEVER. If you aren't old enough to read about how horrible things got when Jimmy Carter was president and tried this then you need to look up the facts. When inflation hits this country it's going to be devastating. I for one do not want to watch Obama run the economy into the ground and watch millions of people become dependent on the government to survive and that is EXACTLY what is going to happen.
