Diplomat blows off Cheney dig at Obama

WASHINGTON (CNN) – A senior diplomat in the Obama administration Sunday challenged former Vice President Dick Cheney’s assessment of the new administration’s ability to keep the country safe.

Cheney was asked two weeks ago on CNN’s State of the Union whether he thought President Obama had made the country less safe since taking office. “I do,” Cheney told CNN Chief National Correspondent John King. “He is making some choices that, in my mind, will, in fact, raise the risk to the American people of another attack,” the former vice president added.

But U.S. special envoy Richard Holbrooke, a senior diplomat in Obama’s State Department, said Sunday that he didn’t understand where Cheney was coming from with his criticism.

“I don’t have a clue what he’s talking about,” Holbrooke said,

“We are treating Afghanistan and Pakistan as a single theater. We are going to address it in an integrated way. We are going to give it more resources. And that is where the people planning the next attack on the United States or on our European allies are certainly doing it. So I just do not understand what his comments were referenced to.”

Gen. David Petraeus, echoed Holbrooke. “You served in the Bush administration under Vice President Cheney and President Bush,” King said to Petraeus. “You're now serving in the Obama administration. Are the American people less safe because of this new president?” King asked

“I wouldn’t necessarily agree with that,” the U.S. CENTCOM commander said Sunday.

Name one administration where more Americans were killed by terrorists either here or abroad, but particularly in the US, than Bush/ Cheney.

This is an incompetent president! We would like to know: such a incompetent president, what will bring us? Peace, tranquility and prosperous life? These are NOT! Just yesterday, he also vowed that we must be able to win the war in Afghanistan and the Middle East win, but between the twinkling of an eye, they disappeared

Are you people nuts? The 9/11 attacks were planned for four years under CLINTON. Bush was only in office for nine months–these terrorists were already in the country and trained by then while Billy boy was playing with cigars in the oval office.

If you are upset by Cheney/Halliburton, perhaps you should start wondering why Obama is giving a company a contract, a company that he donated heaps of money to–as start up funds. Something to do with cleaning up carbon, which he has now listed as a danger (hmmm...ever wonder why?)

You are so besotted with this idiot you cannot see that he is doing worse than his predecessors. I am first to say that Bush made errors, but Obama is doing more damage to this country in two months than Bush did in eight years.

P.S. In order for Bush/Cheney to be indicted, the rest of Congress would have to be as well, they had to vote for the war for it to take place. I guess you all forgot that some of your most coveted Dems voted for it–before they changed their minds LOL!

Why is Obama standing in the way of Chenny being charged with war crimes? I want an answer to this as I find it all very odd. Chenny should be charged with war crimes as we have more than enough evidence that he's guilty.

Maybe Cheney, with his contacts in the mideast, knows something that he isn't telling the president. Hmmmmm!

In addition to a threat to the elderly, women and children and infant children, in addition to the appalling torture and torment, I do not know, the President, are also a little bit of conscience and right from wrong?

Bush/Cheney knew that 9-11 was coming, and that was why Bush was in FL. reading about a goat and Cheney was in a bunker.

Actually, Dick Cheney is responsible for targeting this nation for another attack. Prior to Bush and Cheney that last attack by on US soil of magnitude of 9-11 occurred at Pearl Harbor. The terrosit specialist Clark attempted to warn them, they just blew him off.

What makes me very sad is that no one is out there that can measure up to Obama's intelligence! Goons like Cheyney do not even realize their cowboy mentality was gone long ago and a new dawn of civilized political discourse has ushered in the USA with the advent of Obama's presidency – get used to it!

Hey Cheney, you can write your 'memoirs' from your Prison cell. I'm sure lots of people would buy your book!

Bush/Cheney = Murders, lairs, thieves, war criminals and absolutely the WORSE Admnistration in the USA's history.

Go Obama! The people are behind you!

    (go to hell Cheney)

It would be nice if Dick Cheney just retired and disappeared from public. Both he and Bush are lucky they are not being charged with war crimes. President Obama now has to wind down Iraq and escalate Afghanistan because Bush took his eye off the ball. I don't know this for a fact, but we may already have caught Osama Bin Laden if we had kept up the pressure. Now our current president is stuck trying to fix something that should have been settled a long time ago. Cheney needs to be hiding his face instead of showing it all the time.

Staff Sergeant: "HE FREED TERRORISTS!" What, did you hear that from Sean Hannity? He freed innocent men who had been held for 6 years with no charges against them, and none found. If a couple of them went back to join up, I wonder what changed them from innocent men to terrorists? Oh, could it be that they were held, tortured repeatedly, had no recourse as far a lawyer? That might make you a bit angry at the US too. What you forget is that Bush was confident that he could arrest ANYONE, even American citizens, and do the same thing to them. He wiretapped the entire country! And people think Obama is scary? They are racist, republican nitwits who still buy Cheney's line. 9-11 happened on Bush's watch, no one else's.

Money is only a currency symbol, it does not have any value in itself! It is important to us at the distribution and logistics mechanisms for the role! Such rhetoric in Congress, the ignorance and stupidity of their fans in the side of the heart! A lack of soul of a person is dead! Leaders can do the American people of the administration mechanism? The United States can, as the representative of the people? Oh, No! Not to forget the history! Have forgotten the history of civilization for thousands of years with much of the country's history and national eradication! This is the Devil's dream of a dimple! Through it, you will enter the door to a foreign land!

Carl – he's been busy at the shredder for the last 4 years shredding documents that would get him in trouble.

Of course Mr Cheney wants to continue American military intervention in foreign sovereign nations. After all, there is still much profit to be made for his rich buddies to stash in their offshore accounts. .
