Begala: High marks for Biden

Vice President Joe Biden far and away deserves an A for his first 100 days.

After all, he orchestrated one of the single biggest coups in American politics: helping convince Sen. Arlen Specter to switch parties. He met or spoke with Specter 14 times in the last two months.

Given the cirumstances, the Obama administration is progressive, multi-tasking and has shown the ability to hit the ground running while being able to maintain a sense of stability in the wake of extremely difficult odds. As the President said, he would have liked for his administration to have seen more biparticianship amongst the members of the House and Congress. However, where this may be that was somewhat optimistic and unrealistic, given the dogged political climate of the past, I award his genuiness to seek it out in true political fashion.

dolling out grades to our polititians is good fun ...but it takes away from personal responcibility...otherwords it is we who should be graded ...what we do from the time we get up till we go back to bed.....in our homes, our cars , our jobs....when noone is looking...are we doing the right thing as each situation is presented to us through the day..every day....what grade would we give ourselves?
When we can all get a good grade here our economy will improve , people who need help will get help, we'll make great autos, the crime rate will plunge and so on........................nice to imagine.......

I would give Biden, wait a minute, who is Biden? I don't think I have seen him around. Specter is just a selfish political hack, so now he is in the correct party, you know, birds of a feather.

For those of you who do not know your government and there seems to be some morons here adding comments, the Vice-President is the President of the Senate. Paul Begala is absolutely correct in his assessment of Joe Biden. By convincing Specter to turn Democrat, and along with Minnesota's endorsement of Franklin, the Democrats now have 60 votes in the Senate insuring Obama's and the Democrat's agenda will be passed without battle (fillbuster). Even if Biden had not done anything else during his 4 year term, Specter's turncoating is a great accomplishment.

...he was just asked about the Freedom of Choice Act and President Obama said it was "not his highest priority" in terms of pending legislation.

I am angry he thinks women's rights are not worthy of being considered a priority topic.

Janice, as a strong women's rights proponent, I think that the economy is a little more important right now than the Freedom of Choice Act. Also, just because it's not his highest priority doesn't mean it's not a priority.

Leave it to Paul Begala, during a time of national and global crisis, to grade a Vice-President based on whether he helped the Democrats politically. There are other complimentary things that could be said about the vice-president and the administration to which he belongs, but it is just more evidence that Begala is a partisan blowhard. It's no wonder that Pelosi and some other Democrats have such a problem accepting Obama's call to common sense and bipartisanship, when they are encouraged by voices like Begala.

Biden does wear his foot in his mouth well... For that I give him an A plus!! But from Begala, for heaven's sake, he would give Bin Laden
an A as long as he was a democrat (which he probably is).

A++ for Joe. He has devoted his entire life to the American people and posseses an unbelievable knowledge base along with the wisdom and courage to apply it for the better good of all. He is a treasure and we're blessed to have him as V.P. I am thankful to be able to finally sleep better at night knowing our country and the future of the world are in the wise and capable hands of Obama and Biden.

Majority of the comments on this article are from hopeless sheep that can't think for themselves. Biden is a total embarrassment to this country and he confirms this every time he opens his mouth! Along with being stupid, his arrogance and his limited ability to grasp reality are his strong points!

huh? Arlen Specter? you mean the guy who only cares about running for his office and nothing about taking an actual stand on an issue, no matter what side of the fence you are on here this guy is a true WIMP. He could really start his own party...Wimps Pandering for Votes.

I don't know if this is the right place to rate President Obama"s job in the first 100 days of his presidency. I give him an "A". He has worked very hard and keeps up to date on all that is goig on. From the pirates in Somalia to the "Swine" virus.

the vice president could literally have spent the first 100 days in a coma and, as long as he was a democrat, Begala would have given him an A.

Actually, the fact Biden wasnt given an A plus from this partisan hack speaks volumes about his real performance. Emmanuel is going to be angry he left off the plus, I'm sure it will come up when he is telling Begala what to say next.
