Group says Bristol Palin to promote teen pregnancy prevention

Last year, Gov. Palin revealed that her teen daughter, Bristol, was unmarried and pregnant just as the Republican National Convention was beginning.

Last year, Gov. Palin revealed that her teen daughter, Bristol, was unmarried and pregnant just as the Republican National Convention was beginning.

WASHINGTON (CNN) – Bristol Palin, the daughter of Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, will participate in a town hall meeting on Wednesday to help raise awareness for teen pregnancy prevention, the Candie's Foundation announced Tuesday.

"I am so happy to have this opportunity to work with The Candie's Foundation on spreading the message of teen pregnancy prevention," Palin said in a statement released by the group. "I feel that I could be a living example of the consequences of teen pregnancy. If I can prevent even one girl from getting pregnant, I will feel a sense of accomplishment."

Palin, 18, gave birth to a son, Tripp Easton Mitchell Johnston, in December.

The Candie's Foundation, whose mission it is to "educate teens about the devastating consequences of teenage pregnancy," tapped her to be the teen ambassador for its National Day to Prevent Teen Pregnancy. The group said she will participate in a town hall meeting at the Times Center in New York City Wednesday with actress Hayden Panettiere, baseball player Matt Garza, and other panelists.

Who can better teach an alcoholic that wants to stop than an ex-alcoholic.

Who better to teach a smoker that wants to stop than an ex-smoker.

Who better to teach a drug addict than an ex-drug addict.

You may thank and talk bad about Sarah Palin, but why not give her daughter a chance. Maybe she learned something along the way and can, maybe, give some insight to teens about what their getting into.

Who knows, maybe some of your daughters could learn from her experiences and think before she acts.

Better to have the teens listen to Meatloaf's record- Paradise by the dashboard lights. Best birth control advise ever.

I see this as just another ploy to keep Palin in the limelight! Again, using her kids! I truly believe that this girl should be left alone to try to repair her life.
Things she should tell the teens are: The father won't marry you! You will be under the control of your parents forever! Gone are the friends you had! You will be patching, patching, patching for many years. No new boyfriends! A boy won't come near you because you're tainted. Your poor little baby, you love him, but wish he never happened!

Its so funny that all the liberals here are screaming that Bristol did not take precautions, use a condem, and practice safe sex.

20-30 million abortions are performed yearly in the US. But when libs scream this is the woman's "right". I scream.....take precautions, use a condem, and practice safe sex. Will the double standard ever end?

I'm sure the Candie's Foundation will pay for Bristol Palin's trip which is really a waste of $$$ because she doesn't need to be their spokesperson. Then you know Sarah will want to accompany Bristol because she's too immature to travel that far by herself. So who's gonna pay for Sarah's expenses? Candie or Alaska!!

Betcha Sarah asks to say something at that town hall meeting. This family gets more laughable every day!!!

Unless she's touting openess on sex education and birth control she can bring nothing to the table to prevent teen pregnancy.

If she handed out condoms she may prevent a pregnancy.

  8. Only 21% of Americans trust republicans to lead them into the 21st century!

Yes, the neo-cons will think Bristol is the perfect person for pregnancy prevention, since is obviously, a subject she knows NOTHING about.

She will then demonstrate how to swallow a pill and chase it with water, and since it is NOT a birth control pill it will be the "morning after" pill.

You neo-con bible beaters will fight to save a zygote, but then start wars that will kill and maim thousands of 18 year olds in the name of Jesus and democracy.

    Pro-Life? Please, explain.

Yes and Sarah can give speeches about stop interfering with Levi's rights as Tripp's father. We know why Bristol is going to talk about teen prevention..because Sarah told her so...unfortunately it's too bad that she couldn't talk to her daughter about this before she became pregnant because as the saying go "the horse is already out of the barn"

Me thinks this is one of those "Do as I say but not as I do" moment for Bristol. Preaching what she does not practice just to make some dough. But, she's just a Palin and a good one at that.

MMmmm......her motto could be: "Just say no".

Or maybe: "Don't do as I do, do as I say".

Or maybe......just maybe: "Don't bother with the sex.......it ain't that good".

    Corrected spelling...
Refuse to contribute to the dumbing down of America.

Neither Jamie Lynn Spears nor Bristol Palin should be spokespersons "about the devastating consequences of teenage pregnancy".

Neither will ever have to struggle to put food in their children's mouths or clothes on their backs. Neither will ever have to choose between going to work and staying home because they can't afford daycare. Their lives will continue with very little impact from their pregnancies.

I truly hope, as others have stated, that she does not simply spout talking points about abstinance and admit that teens are sexually active and need to be educated and protected BEFORE the act so there are no consequences AFTER.

Unfortunately Montel and Maury provide more education than The Candies Foundation.

From this picture am I the only that thinks Levi was bedding both the half-wit AND Bristol?

Of course, one or both seems to lost the need for a boy toy or he has been replaced.

Bristol Palin could tell about the devastating affects of teen pregnancy, if she in fact suffered some devastating effects of teen pregnancy. Bristol Palin will never know what is like to make the tough choices like whether you go on with school or start working to support your child, finding and paying for childcare. Palin is no poster child for teen pregnancy prevention. If we were hearing about her having to get a minimum wage job to buy diapers and formula, or having to get a voucher for subsidized childcare expenses, she might be more credible. I do not have anything against Bristol Palin. I sure she is a lovely young lady, but she is not the typical teen mother. Most teen mothers do not come from priviledge.

OMG! This family will NEVER get out of the limelight now. Whether it is Mom using HER baby as a prop or daughter using HER pregnancy as a prop, it all stinks to high heaven.

The political calculations are disgusting. Shame on the Palins!

I think this is great. She did something wrong, learned a lesson, dealt with the consequences, and is not teaching others from her experience.

Bristol doing this is similar to the person that is in a drunk driving accident and teaches others to not drink and drive!

Who better to teach these types of lessons than someone that has been in that situation and lived with the outcomes of their actions.

I don't want to hold anything against Bristol. I wish her the best of luck, but I hope that she realizes that not every teen mother has the full support (emotionally AND FINANCIALLY) of their family. Its a pity that her mother ( and Im using the word mother in the loosest of definitions) is so naive to believe that abstinence works. It didn't work for Bristol, it didn't work for her, and it doesn't work for probably 99% of the world. God gave the intelligence to care for ourselves, not to breed like animals.

I don't think Bristol understands or cares about the situation she is currently in. She is probably going to lump her baby with the rest of the many kids in the house and no one will be none the wiser. You know how these trashy families do it. We saw that after we found out that Bristols baby daddy had dropped out of high school to shack up in the Palin house. Palin is probably making Bristol speak about teen pregnancy as an effort to increase her efforts of not looking as bad during her 12 presidetial run. Momma Palin probably blames Bristol everyday for her fail white house run. Bristol needs to be taking a class not teaching one. She can start with a Family Planning Class. Maybe then she will learn that you cant prevent the farther of your child access to the child because you were upset that his sister was hooking him up with females while Bristol was preganant. She needs to get over it and chalk it up to being a teen!

Yikes, this is a great way to make their kid grow up feeling like he was a mistake, a problem, a regrettable error. Given the public feud with the dad and the Palin's trashing of him, for the child's sake they need to get out of the public eye. This is a disgrace! Selfish people!
