Liz Cheney suggests Obama 'siding with terrorists'

[cnn-photo-caption image= caption="Liz Cheney joined her parents on a trip to the Middle East in March 2008."]
(CNN) - Liz Cheney is picking up where her father left off when it comes to taking aim at the Obama administration, saying Tuesday the new commander-in-chief appears to be siding with terrorists.

In an interview on Fox News, the daughter of Vice President Dick Cheney sharply criticized the new administration for agreeing to release photographs depicting alleged abuses at U.S. prisons in Iraq and Afghanistan during the Bush administration.

"I think it is really appalling that the administration is taking this step," she said in the interview. "Clearly what they are doing is releasing images that show American military men and woman in a very negative light."

"I have heard from families of service members from families of 9/11 victims this question about when did it become so fashionable for us to side, really, with the terrorists," she continued. "You know, President Obama has a lot of rhetoric about support for American military families, support for our men and women who are fighting for us overseas. But if he really cares about them, then he wouldn't be making such an effort to release photos that show them in a negative light."

Late last month, Pentagon officials said the hundreds of photographs released are from more than 60 criminal investigations from 2001 to 2006, and show military personnel allegedly abusing detainees. But the officials rejected allegations by the American Civil Liberties Union that the photos show a systemic pattern of abuse by the military.

In her interview Monday, Cheney also echoed recent calls from her father for the Obama administration to release classified documents detailing information yielded from the aggressive interrogation techniques since denounced by the president.

"They seem only to be interested in releasing things that really paint American in a negative light and don't give the American people a full picture of what went on," she said.

"...a full picture of what went on."! That's understatement! The only reason this illegal war was started was because Cheney and Bush thought they would get financially richer from it and go down in history as justice fighters. What an abuse of power. Our soldiers didn't even know what they were fighting for. Terrorists were not on the loose in Iraq before this war, but they sure are now.

Great quotes and good points (except fizzed out in Texas) but one that really caught my eye was ... and I quote:

"If Cheney wanted these documents released, he should have released them under his own watch. "

Worth repeating so I will: If Cheney wanted these documents released, he should have released them under his own watch. "

If the interrogators and others followed the law and not the orders from "daddy" there would be no photos depicting Americans in a negative light to release now would there??!!! Give me a break. What gives the Americans the right to abuse or torture prisoners? You reap what you sow people!!

It seems that Cheney, Bush and his family believes their own myths and lies. I come from a country where the truth is more important than whether or not our actions are seen in a negative light. How about the notion of invading a country with no valid evidence?

The truth shall set you free, but first, it will piss you off...

Why are all these "daughters" coming out and speaking for their fathers? Seems like the Republican Party is trying to rebrand itself as being more youthful and forward thinking. They're also trying to influence young women to be Republicans. It's not a marketing issue. It's an issues issue!

Cheney Family stands for everything that the American society is NOT about. They are afraid that their outrageous acts will be revealed in day light. One thing is for sure, they cannot stop the wings of Truth.

ZZZZZZ. Honestly, do we have to post, interview, and report on every single politician's children and what they all have to say as completely unqualified political experts? This is really getting old. Please stop turning the Political Ticker into the Hollywood Ticker for Entertainment Nightly...

That's right, Liz. We shouldn't show pictures of the torture your dad says didn't happen but also kept us safe.

I have to wonder how much any Cheney cares about our service people when they defend torture while we have troops in the field.

Hope too see the same photo gate come out when Obama is no longer in office. Hopefully we will not get the hole story to make his time as President the biggest joke this country has ever seen. Put it all out there and let the American people decide. Maybe we should have done like the enemy and just loped off there heads. You bear arms against our soldiers during battle you DIE!!!!!

Your Daddy's big mouth sparked this investigation... when he criticized our new President by delusionally suggesting he made our country less safe against terrorists unless leaders broke International laws like himself....

I guess he put his own "foot in his mouth"......

Its appalling that the administration is releasing the photos?

I think rational people think its appalling that those acts were done.

Well, I'm glad that she completely discredited herself in her own statement. No one who runs the White House could get away with citing or becoming friendly with terrorists. I'm George Bush came close when he chose to preserve his family oil company and relationships with Saudi Arabia after 9/11 and invaded Iraq instead.

And all of Haliburton's profits gained from infrastructure rebuilding and urban projects awarded by the governments in Afganistan, Saudi Arabia, and Iran and a number of other middle eastern countries -check their own website – (Dick Cheney still owns options in that company as a former CEO)

But, other than that any administration would probably not likely be able to get away with what Dick Cheney's daughter is saying. Then again, as the daughter of the first VP in history to possibly be forced to take part in an investigation for crimes against humanity by his own country, she's not a very reputable mouth piece for anything legitimate or unbiased.

WHy are the Cheney's "ALL OF A SUDDEN" coming out and voicing thier opinions? Funny how cheney kept her hidden for 8 yrs-but now he decides to open his big fat yapper and tell the world what he thinks? His daughter supported Obama during the campaign-so why all of a sudden is daddy-dearest forcing her to say negative things about him?

I think Cheney should go back to the hole he dug for himself and quietly slip into madness......

The GRINCH needs to go back to his cave atop Mount Crumpet !!

When all you can do for your party is to "wave the bloody shirt" and try and hide behind the backs of American military, as though your administration was good for them, you are really desperate. All you are doing is calling on deep, buried and irrational emotional emotions. You are saying a dictatorship would have been better because you would still be in power. Well, waa, waa, waa. And Obama is not a terrorist, but Cheney is a torturer.

It's pretty clear who's DNA she got.
Why don't they get it? Pres. Obama isn't "siding with terrorists",
    she is... her father.
I'd rather see him make a fresh start, then take it from there than just being pissed at everyone Bush/Cheany was... all of the time!

My 18 yr old son is thinking of enlisting in the US Army. Tell me, do these pictures make our military look good or bad in the world's eyes? If bad, then I think our fighting forces will be in more danger and have a more difficult mission no matter where they are deployed.

Let's not release ANY documents or photos regarding interrogation by US Troops or Intelligence. And the flap about "water boarding", what a joke. Taliban or Al Qaeda extracts information by drilling holes in their prisoner’s heads with an electric drill. Those that were water boarded are still alive. Just like the US Troops who benefitted from the information extracted from these terrorists.

Liz Cheney fears her Father may be prosecuted for his war crimes and she is trying to be vocal to defend him.
More than 4200 US Troops have died and 46,000 US Troops have suffered injuries, only because of Dick Cheney and Bush.
None of the 9/11 terrorists were from Iraq. Iraq was attacked for Bush and Cheney’s greed for Oil. Intelligence report that Iraq has WMDs was false and specially designed to mislead Americans for getting their support to go to war. Bush admitted this in his farewell address that Iraq intelligence report was a mistake.
If Obama would be siding with Terrorists he would pull out troops from Afghanistan and not enhance troops there to fight Terrorists.
What a misstatement by Liz Cheney. In fact she is trying to mislead Americans just like her Father did by misleading Americans about Iraq’s WMDs.
Dick Cheney is worst than Saddam and Hitler. Saddam and Hitler were responsible for killing others. Dick Cheney is responsible for the deaths of own countrymen (4200 Troops).

Where were these people on and prior to 911, when Americans really needed to be 'kept safe'?

Cheney let America down on and prior to 911. And he's trying to cover his shame and incompetence. His puppet president, bush, doesn't even care to cover his ineptitude.

Father is delusional and daughter is definitely delusional.
How a man stay married to her we will never know? (Oh that's a female and not a man?) lol

We have to face the truth, and people like Liz Cheney (what kind of man sends his daughter out to do his bidding? pathetic.) need to stop blaming the troops for her dad's evil WAR CRIMES.

Talk about morally backward stances. Now we're okay with evil as long as nobody uncovers it, apparently.

If releasing photos of American soldiers engaged in these terribly negative activities is wicked and undermines our nation, what then are we to think of the officials who sanctioned and indeed actively encouraged the activities themselves?

The shame is not on the President uncovering truth; remember, any good true Christian nows, what occurs in darkness (what is wrong no matter how you try to justify it is wrong) will come to light. If this administration has elected to side on the side of justice and truth, well who is really siding with the terrorists? I say if you are like them, in their practices and justifications, then YOU are really more of a terrorist.

Thank you Ms. Cheney, we can now add you to that list of unpatriots.

Oh please. We have to listen to what Li z Cheney says now? And for what reason? We finally have an intelligent leader and Liz Cheney says he sides with the terrorists? Why? Because Obama knows the difference between torture and defense?

I will trust Obama. I do not trust Dick Cheney. I do not value his daughter's opinion, although she has a right to voice it.
