A Kennedy weighs in on Virginia governors race

[cnn-photo-caption image= caption="Kennedy is backing Moran."]WASHINGTON (CNN) - A member of the Kennedy clan is making an endorsement in the Virginia governor's race.

Rhode Island Rep. Patrick Kennedy, the son of Sen. Ted Kennedy, announced on Friday that he's backing Democrat Brian Moran.

"Last November, families in Virginia and across the nation helped usher in a new generation of leadership," Kennedy said in a statement. "However, the need for this new generation of leaders is not confined to Washington and the White House."

It's another example - after Ted and Caroline Kennedy's endorsement of Barack Obama in 2008 - of the Kennedy family keeping its political distance from Bill and Hillary Clinton. Moran's rival for the Democratic nomination, after all, is longtime Clinton ally Terry McAuliffe. The former president has been campaigning for McAuliffe throughout the commonwealth this week.

With low turnout expected in the June 9 primary, each campaign hopes that these brand name endorsements will help them win the support of the Democratic loyalists likely to go to the polls on election day.

Moran and McAuliffe are competing against Democrat Creigh Deeds for their party's nomination. The winner of that primary will face Republican Bob McDonnell in the general election.

The endorsement is not the only Kennedy boost Moran is getting: Ethel Kennedy, the widow of former Senator Robert F. Kennedy, is hosting a fundraiser for Moran on May 27 at her home, Hickory Hill in McLean.

Where is the nice story about Nancy Pelosi the LIAR.
She lies and her entire face crinkles.
Sorry her face crinkles all the time.
She lied about knowing the California Congresswoman who lied about trying to cut a special deal with the Attorney General and she is lying about this.
    Born liar.
    Long time liar.
    She should step down.

Another Kennedy riding on the coattails of the Kennedy name. The new Era Kennedys are nothing like JFK and he would be horrified to see what has become of the Democratic party. Back in the day the Democrats were the party of the people, when It was "Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country." Things have reversed a little there.................don't you think?

Bill Clinton's endorsement of McAuliffe carries MUCH more weight than any Kennedy endorsement.

Ted Kennedy endorsed Obama over Hillary in the primary last year yet Hillary STILL carried his home state of MA by 15 points.

I don't think Pat Kennedy's endorsement carries half the weight of Ethel's. She's hauling in some serious bucks. I think this is a direct shot at Wild Bill, not so much Hillary, but definitely a strike at Wild Bill.

Terry McAuliffe was Billy Boy's chief defender when he got caught with Monica, so it's no surprise BC is backing him. How that makes one qualified to run for govenor is beyond me. Oh, wait, he also ran Hilary's campaign. Hey, that didn't turn out too well either. Maybe he'll also get endorsed by Rahm, James Carville, Paul Begala, the whole gang!!

So far the posts have been the from the typical small-brained shallow-gene-pool crowd who talk tough, but who are afraid of everything! Think about it – they are even afraid of married gay people?!
There motto is "be afraid, be very afraid" of everything!

McDonnell, Cuccenelli, Frederick, Drake, Pat Robertson, etc., were all hatched from the dark cave of ignorance.
They want us to go back in time to when their idea of church and social structures were oppressing many Virginians. They want us to de-evolve to their way of "un-thinking".
Yes, Brian Moran is the best choice for Virginia!

A ringing endorsement from an alcoholic drug attic with a history of drunk driving sure carries a lot of weight with me!

The apple doesn't fall far from the tree...does it Ted?

It amazes me the sheep from his district continue to relect this goofball. Particularly in light of the fact his district had no representation in the U.S. Congress while he was swooped away by the Kennedy clan to sweat it out at a rehab facility. All the will continuing to collect his taxpayer paid salary and perks.

    Come on CNN!!!!

The speaker of the house, 3rd in line to the presidency, is embroiled in a scandal, and the best you can do is post tickers on Bristol Palin graduating high school (300 posts in record time) and a no-name Kennedy from Rhode Island weighing in on a Virginia gubenatorial race?????

    Stop protecting Pelosi!!!

Thats the problem, they hate too much. I feel so sorry for them. I don't know who's worse a hater or liar? It is a fact what goes around comes around! BH.
