Scenes from the White House

ALT TEXT

President Barack Obama bends over so the son of a White House staff member can pat his head during a family visit to the Oval Office May 8, 2009. The youngster wanted to see if the President's haircut felt like his own. (Official White House Photo by Pete Souza).

The Human Touch. Something OUR White House has been missing for a long, long time. Maybe our country is at a turning point for the good....finally.

Oh, my goodness! There he goes again - BOWING DOWN to someone. This time it's a mere CHILD!

Just thought I'd get that out of the way for the right-wing radicals who post here so often, anticipating their response to this warm story about our truly human and endearing President.

i can just see shaun hannity w/ all his insanity making a big deal about BOWING to the young and old. he'll find some way to twist this into a negative. i bet you. he just don't get it. case in point when greeting the king of saudi arabi. our president is a tall person. he is a basketball player, and the king is a frail and aging ruler who they have to prop up so he can make appearances, OBAMA DID NOT BOW. he simly bent down to speak words of respect to a aging ruler. capeesh hannity. now we got the young whom w/ respect he granted a young childs request. i'll say it again mrs hannity is got to be bouncing off the walls. while you playa hate on the commander in chief.

I am so pleased that we finally have a human being in the white house instead of a redneck cowboy. Obama has class–a welcome change to the oval office.

Nice guy, but why is it that more than half of the photos you see of him or Michelle are with African Americans? Less than 20% of the population is black, yet almost every photo of the Obamas is with black individuals. We are a country heading toward reverse discrimination.

I was very touched by the moment of 'recognition and familiarity' in this refreshing picture.

During the last presidential election, for the first time in their lives many Americans had an opportunity to vote for a President who they not only agreed with, but someone who also looked and sounded a lot like them.

I think the little boy in this picture had that same feeling, after his first time seeing our President in the Oval office.
