State Department fixes wage error

WASHINGTON (CNN) - The State Department has revised a report that erroneously pegged the salaries of some foreigners working abroad at U.S. embassies and other places at less than $1 per day.

It's not $1 a day, it's $4 a day, the inspector general's office said Friday, two days after the report was released.

"We were given that information erroneously," inspector general spokesman Tom Burgess told CNN. "We know it is between three dollars and four dollars a day."

Apparently a currency conversion error was to blame, he said.

Other details of the report remain in place, including claims that some lower grade foreign nationals who work for the department earn so little that they must cut back to one meal a day and send their children out to peddle on the streets.

"We have no further corrections to make," Burgess said. "We stand behind the report."

The inspector general's report looked at how the United States pays more than 51,000 local, non-American employees in about 170 missions.

In addition to the hardship caused to the workers because of inadequate pay, the report found that the United States is losing staff to other higher-paying employers, and may not be able to fill vacancies with qualified people.

I'm sure Bush and Cheney are the cause of this too. That would make me a left wing nut that cannot think for themselves.

    Hang on... I'm ciphering...

    51,000 @ $1.00 a day = $51,000.00 a day
    $51,000.00 a day for a week is $357,000.00
    $375,000 a week for a year is $18,564,000.00

Take out your own trash, vacuum your own carpet, or just close shop and come home because there really isn't anything there that we need anyway. We got problems here that we need to cope with and that's where our attention needs to focus. Personally, I'm getting tired of being the worlds nanny. This country needs to get back on track first and worry about them later. Obviously they don't care about themselves, so why should we. We see what's happening here with our own eyes. Our politicians need to open theirs.

Those who are bothered by sick of obama post just remember that's exactly how you guys sound with the party of no, the rethuglicans , its all bushs fault nonsense. You people are all idiots and don't hold people in your parties responsible, your all too busy hating. You hate because we had a bad president for the left now we got a bad president for the right. We will know when a truly gifted leader comes along because the hate will stop, he will be a man who doesn't care about polls doesn't care about party lines but cares about everyone in this country. This guy is just like bush, the right will hate him forever and the left will defend him no matter what, same with bush. So all of you shut up and pay attention you owe it to the children of this country.
