FBI not investigating Pelosi's CIA charge

[cnn-photo-caption image= http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2009/images/05/20/art.mueller.gi.jpg caption="FBI Director Robert Mueller says the FBI is not investigating Nancy Pelosi's charge that she was misled by the CIA."](CNN) - FBI Director Robert Mueller told members of the House Wednesday that it is a crime to lie to Congress, but said the bureau is not investigating the charge by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi that the CIA misled her.

In response to questions from California Rep. Darrell Issa, ranking Republican on the Oversight and Government Reform Committee, Mueller said procedures require Congress to refer requests for an investigation to the Justice Department. If it is determined by Justice officials that a basis exists for an investigation, the FBI would then be asked to look into the matter. When Issa said he has standing to ask for such an investigation, Mueller said he would pass the request on to the Justice Department.

Excellent, finally we'll get a full investigation of Cheney, Bush, Pelosi, Tenet, Gonzalez, the Bush justice dept. and the CIA. A massive declassification of terror investigation techniques and protocols. Thank you Republicans for agreeing there must be a full investigation. I would gladly sacrifice Pelosi to convict Cheney.

  2. Bitter Republican, party of no I mean one, your table is ready!

If the FBI is going to investigate her, so be it, as a Democrat I am fine with that.

But then we should also investigate Bush who told the American people "We do not torture".

So Ms. Pelosi makes a fool of herself and then she tries to figure out who she can blame for her dumb comments??? She should just apologize ...

Bush relied on information provided him from many sources. The sources may have been wrong. What do you expect from A CIA that had been stripped down, by the Dems under Clinton, to the point where there was only one operative in Iraq. The Dems always cut CIA, and Defence, wo what do you expect? Bush didn't lie, the facts may have been wrong (or the WMD was moved to Syria).

Who declared the EITs as torture? Didn't the Justice Department say it wasn't? Who reversed that? How do they think they will make that retroactive? Go figure.

Pelosi herself is requesting that CIA briefings from 2002-2003 be declassified to prove her case yet Republicans oppose this in the a misguided interest of "national security." But they want her to come clean. She's calling their bluff and they're folding. That's because any briefing that would prove Pelosi is lying would almost inevitably implicate a number of Republicans who knew and sanctioned the use of torture. If Pelosi is going down, she's taking a boatload of Repubs with her!

Time for her to step down and resign.

Hey MJ, I'm with you. Let's investigate everyone. I would love to see just how many Democrats OBJECTED back in 2002. I would venture to say nearly nobody. Back then, virtually everybody, probably yourself included , would have done anything to prevent any more attacks from happening.
So it is very hypocritical to now want to go after the very people we wanted to make sure we were safe!
