Limbaugh blasts Powell attack

[cnn-photo-caption image= caption="Rush Limbaugh criticized Colin Powell as being part of the 'stale, the old, the worn-out GOP.'"](CNN) – Colin Powell and Rush Limbaugh escalated their war of words on Wednesday, with the talk radio host calling the former Secretary of State part of the "stale, the old, the worn-out GOP that never won anything."

The comments came hours after Powell fired back at Limbaugh and former Vice President Dick Cheney over recent remarks questioning his GOP credentials.

"Rush Limbaugh says, 'get out of the Republican Party.' Dick Cheney says, 'he's already out,'" Powell said at a Tuesday night event in Boston, according to the Boston Globe. "I may be out of their version of the Republican Party, but there's another version of the Republican Party waiting to emerge once again."

Powell drew ire from many in the GOP for his decision to endorse President Obama's candidacy, and said earlier this month that the party would be better off without Limbaugh.

On his show Wednesday, Limbaugh mocked Powell's comments. "And now there's an agenda, an emerging agenda, that he's waiting for for the Republican Party?" said the radio host. "The only thing emerging here is Colin Powell's ego. Colin Powell represents the stale, the old, the worn-out GOP that never won anything."

Limbaugh, who has been called the de facto leader of the Republican Party by leading Democrats, also said that he is resigning from the position.

"I am resigning as the titular head of the Republican Party," Limbaugh said. "Clearly I am not the titular head of the Republican Party, it's not an office I sought, it was an office position that rather was ladled onto me, and one I was appointed without by acquiescence."

Limbaugh, Gingrich, Cheney, Rove, Palin, etc are all big mouths and/or brainless boobs. Do any one of these idiots ever have a positive or constructive thing to say?

Limbaugh is a drug addicted blowhard whose only success is running off at the mouth to people dumb enough to believe his rantings. If Rush is the best the Republics have to offer, its over for them.

  3. Real Republican

The Real Republicans understand and believe in what our country was founded upon. Rush has more followers to this day then any other day before our current President purchased his current job. Understand our country and what we were built upon before anyone choses to battle Rush. You better be able to understand our freedoms that our President is taking away from every one of us in the middle class.

The Republican Party should remember what happened to the last group who followed a drug addicted charismatic leader off into the wilderness and drank his kool-aid.

One can only compare a decorated war veteran/General and Secretary of State to a fat, disgusting, blowhard, coward who chose deferment for anal warts when his country called, pathetic.

Jabba the Limbaugh is a disgrace to humanity as a whole.

Does Rush have another life besides his radio show? Is this person even married, have a girlfriend or any children/grandchildren? He is the biggest grouch, he's always miserable and never ever has anything nice to say. He never looks on the bright side of anything. I mean, i know he's in remission from drug abuse, but was he nicer when he was doing drugs? Oh my God- I wish he would just be put out to pasture and graze around like the cow that he is.

Hey was basic training when you went through it? How many wars did you fight in or how many years did you put in the US Armed Forces? UH WHAT??? is the answer NONE?? Then you need to sit down and be THANKING Gen Powell for helping to keep your (BLEEP) safe instead of trying to put him down. Neither r you nor Cheney are worthy to lace his bootstraps IMO.
