Reid says Obama still needs to give details

(CNN) - Hours after President Obama delivered a speech defending his choice to close Guantanamo Bay, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid made clear Thursday he thinks the president still needs to provide details on where he plans to relocate detainees of the facility.

"We've received today a broad vision from President Obama and it's important that he did that, said Reid, who on Wednesday supported a Senate measure to strip funding to close the facility until a plan is laid out.

"We're all awaiting the details of his plan and he's going to come up with one."

"Democrats certainly, agree that it should be closed," Reid also said. "And it's going to be closed. I think that the president did today was giving us a broad vision of what he expects. And knowing President Obama like we've all gotten to know him, he doesn't do things half-cocked. He's going to give us a detailed plan and it will be forthcoming soon."

@ TCM: If President Obama were indeed listening to the idiot twins shrub/dickie you'd be kissing his feet. Obviously that's not the case.
And by the way, that BOY that you're referring to would sweep the floor with you and your two idiot scumbags. But he does'nt have to because that BOY is the President of the United States of America. Guess that would make him YOUR Commander-in-Chief! How 'bout that?!

Try that in your pipe....and smoke it.

TCM- I don't get my info from talking heads or AM radio.
However since you asked the economy was expanding and the US was respected at the end of Mr Clintons term.

GWB and team took a national tragedy (9/11) and used to feather thier political nest at the expense of the nations good name.

Two wars+ massive tax cuts for the wealthy+gitmo+torture= the mess Mr Obama has to clean up.

Harry Reid is a spineless wonder-boy, another windsock in the Senate.

He needs to be replaced with a true leader, someone who will stand tall for the rule of law, and support our President, and the will of the people.

This is why you don't elect someone who has no executive experience and no meaningful legislative experience. Obama knows what he wants to do but doesn't know how to get it done. Let's hope when a real crisis emerges he'll be able to put something together that won't get us all killed.

At the same time he is talking about closing Gitmo, he is talking to people privately about getting laws changed to make it legal for preventively detaining people who do not fall under the umbrella for trying them in court.

You people are a bunch of lemmings.

I wonder how many of you "conservatives" or what ever you claim to be ever served your country. If it is anything like your previous GOP administrations leaders or millionaire AM talk radio "entertainers" its no wonder the GOP is headed to the trash heap of history.

    GOP=chicken hawk, fear mongers.

@ Mississippi Mike: The only people who have previous Executive experience are PREVIOUS presidents. Insofar as legislative experience: based on Pres. Obama's educational background, I feel quite confident that at least HE will act judiciously, and that no laws willbe broken, nor Executive privileges abused.

Nice try Harry, but bringing them here will only expand the preaching of Islam in Prisons. The NY terror arrests today proves that three of these guys converted to Islam in prison THEN decided to destroy New York City. Another well thought out decision by Obama and Company.

@ Mississippi Mike et al: No one person knows everything. The mark of a truly good leader is to surround himself with the BEST minds in different fields; obtain their advice, and make an INFORMED decision. We all stood behind Bush's knee-jerk reaction of invading the wrong country, while he was looking for the wrong things (WMD's that actually did'nt exist), and he never caught the right guy. I don't know where Bush got his advice from (if any), but I feel confident that that will NOT be the case with our current president.

If the Cheney administration left us so safe as they claim, why are we. the big bad USA, so scared of a few rag/tag terrorists who have been beaten, waterboarded and probably starved? What can they really do? Aren't we the country that can handle the worse of the worse among prisoners in our system? The hoopla surrounding Gitmo is all political and truly a non-issue. We elected Obama to close Gitmo and he is trying to do what we've asked so that we can restore our reputation, and once again be able to travel the world without being hated. Cheney and others of his ilk are trying to cover their backside and re-write the sorry history that was the Cheney/Bush Republican disaster.

    SHOW OF HANDS.....

How many of your liberals KNEW Obama has reserved the right to use the SAME aggressive interrogation techniques employed under the Bush Administration???

LMAO – you sheeple don't have a CLUE. Obama is condemning Bush/Cheney all while "reserving the right" to do the same thing.
