Reid says Obama still needs to give details

(CNN) - Hours after President Obama delivered a speech defending his choice to close Guantanamo Bay, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid made clear Thursday he thinks the president still needs to provide details on where he plans to relocate detainees of the facility.

"We've received today a broad vision from President Obama and it's important that he did that, said Reid, who on Wednesday supported a Senate measure to strip funding to close the facility until a plan is laid out.

"We're all awaiting the details of his plan and he's going to come up with one."

"Democrats certainly, agree that it should be closed," Reid also said. "And it's going to be closed. I think that the president did today was giving us a broad vision of what he expects. And knowing President Obama like we've all gotten to know him, he doesn't do things half-cocked. He's going to give us a detailed plan and it will be forthcoming soon."

I think it is time for hapless Harry to get off his butt and start leading. It might begin by supporting the president and the will of the people. Close GITMO you dolt!

Weak, weak, weak as usual, Harry. I generally support the Dems right now, but Reid is the wrong guy to be in a leadership position when so much needs to be done. Waffle, fall back, concede, renege on promises, waffle some more....anything to avoid growing a spine and actually leading.

The president will give details as to closing this blight on the nations honor, the problem will bet he lilly livered GOP and many weak Dem politicians using the issue as wedge by frightening as many of their mindless constituents as possible into believing the "terrorist" will be living next door to them.

How pathetic is it that, fear and name calling is the only game the GOP has left.

Harry Reid may be out of a job in the next election. He is being challenged in his home state. Just maybe he is trying to appease someone.

@ Brian G., ........... The detainees should go through our Justice system, and if found not guilty be sent back to their homelands!

Guantanamo has been a disgrace, I shudder to think of the evil, that was done there in our names!

The GOP like to fear-monger! But here is a statistic that most do not know:

The chances of an American being killed in a terrorist attack is....... ONE....... in......... 9.3....... MILLION!

The chances of dying from a Heart ATTACK????? 1 in 2!

I think Nevada would be a great place to put the detainees. Sit around a pool. see a show, play some Black Jack.

The is another fine mess brought to us by the GWB team of bumbling chicken hawks. I am sure Mr Obama would have loved to have the hand GWB inherited from MR Clinton.

The GOP is the cowardly fear and torture party !!

@ KEVIN B – what history have you been studying? Something thrown together by Chris Matthew and Keith Olberman? Clinton was loser. You libs can no longer blame Bush for squat. Obama is listening to Bush and Cheney about keeping GITMO keep the terrorists out of the US....You see, Bush is still calling the shots, and the boy's just listening....

  18. Montana wants the detainees

Montana says they will take the detainees, They have empty prison space and they know how to handle dangerous criminals. I guess the rest of America's Supermax prisons are inadequate and unprepared in dealing with actual criminals.

This is just Republican fear-mongering – IGNORE IT- there will be a plan and it will be excellent just like everything else Obama has put into action!

Again... put 'em in there with Bubba, Leroy, and Lil' KKK. If we have prisons to hold mass murderers, rapists, and cannibals why should there be a difficulty finding placement for these "gentlemen"?

  20. Change You...whatever!!

Obama has no plan. Claims he wants to close Gitmo yet still keep open other bases where torture is practiced. Obama branded himself ad the NEW and he is worse than Bush.

"...He's going to give us a detailed plan and it will be forthcoming soon."

In other words, he's going to tell congress, (or actually the person who runs the teleprompter), what to think and we are take it with a smile or we are the party of "no".

I wake up every morning amzaed that we elected this power hungry idiot.

Just move them into the White House and have them room with Obummers mother-in-law. Charge them rent and we could get some more social give-away programs going.

Reid and other Senate Democrats have displayed weakness in the face of adversity. First that bill to help homeowners died in the Senate and now this Gitmo business. I believein Obama's agenda and I want it to move forward. I thought that the Democratic Congress would help. I feel my hopes have been misplaced

Reid is the old way of Washtion and he needs to be replace. I hope he lost his position to a young person. All these Old Congressional leader need to retirer becasue they don't have a vision that lines of with most American People.
