Liz Cheney doesn't rule out future run for office

WASHINGTON (CNN) - Liz Cheney, the daughter of former Vice President Dick Cheney and a former State Department official, said Tuesday that she isn't planning to run for public office anytime soon, but didn't rule out the possibility for the future.

Cheney, who has made headlines recently for an ambitious public campaign defending her father and attacking the Obama administration's national security strategy, said she is currently too busy at home to run for office.

"It's not something I'm focused on right now, I do have five little kids and I'm helping my dad to write his memoirs," Cheney said Tuesday in an interview on Fox News and posted on

"So I have a pretty full plate right now, but it's certainly something I could," she said before getting interrupted.

But Cheney's comments aren't the first time this possibility has come up. Former President Bush's top strategist Karl Rove was asked on Monday in an interview with Fox News if he thought that she should run for office. He responded, "she might."

Maybe she could get her doctor of business degree working for Halliburton and then know how to set up off shore subsideries to do business with Iran, her father could really give her some points for he has done that already.

Please don't bother. Your father is an international disgrace and the stink of his tenure will cling to you for the rest of your life. Getting support from Rove only makes it worse. Find something else to do.

Wow... nepotism goes a long way... the Kennedys, the Bushes, the Rockefellers... enough of this extremist politicians and their "legacies" – they've ruined government and society with their aristocratic attitudes and what's good for me is good for you attitude...

I just can't see anyone who believes in inhumane actions towards another human being as representing the public.... if she wants to do this type of work - join the CIA, not a publically elected position.

I'd be crapping my pants too, liberals, as every time she's been on a show to debate the enhanced interrogation of waterboarding, she's thwapped the other side pretty hard.

I'm going to make a donation to whomever she runs against, and I will talk to everyone I know so they will do the same. The last thing we need is a Cheney Jr. She has not show that she can stand on her own merits. She has none, so she stands on Daddy the torture. Considering most of America can't stand her Daddy, good luck to Daddy's little girl. Her putting herself on tv the last few weeks, being Daddy's mouth piece, won't help Liz Jr.

She would be incredible. She has her fathers guts and her mother's grace. Has more actual experience than Barack Obama, especially foreign policy experience.

She'd make an incredible Vice President for President Palin.

Man, I can't wait for January 20, 2013, the day Sarah Palin takes the Oath of Office as the 45th President of the United States, and our long nightmare is over.

Unless she changes her last name, i don't think any sane person would vote for her, let alone a fraction of the country.

If that's what it takes for her to stay out of office, that would be the only time I would defend and encourage a sexist United States

Liz, are you joking or just want to say something in the media to make yourself feel good. You know very well that even the crazy man on the street will never make such a mistake to vote into any public office. Thanks and continue promoting your father dead image.

Uh Liz, enjoy your 4 minutes of fame right now. Why do people think just because they've gotten an interview or two with the media that now they are qualified to run for office? I wouldn't take you seriously because you are running on the strength of your father's name which is pretty pathetic given that no one, except of course the two undercooked meatballs Rush and Rove, want to hear anything by a Cheney.

I think Meghan McCain is far better qualified by virtue of having ideas and charm, and would be a much more likley to save her party from the Cheney Curse.

Another Pro-Life Woman who would rather live in Washington and let someone else raise her children. Drop 'em and run. Great values.

Bring it on Liz! I am sure most Americans can't wait to see your name on the ballot. You'll get maybe .05 percent of the votes, I am sure! The same amount Palin would get.

This is a joke right? The daughter of one of the most reviled public servants in history is going to run for office? On second thought it may be a good thing, because her lies will be exposed on a regular basis..
