Gingrich: Sotomayor 'racist,' should withdraw nomination

Newt Gingrich is, too - and he's demanding that Obama's pick to the Supreme Court withdraw her nomination.
On Twitter, Gingrich pointed to a line in Sotomayor's 2001 speech to a Hispanic group in Berkeley that has drawn fire from some conservatives.
"I would hope that a wise Latina woman with the richness of her experience would more often than not reach a better conclusion than a white male who hasn't lived that life," Sotomayor said in that speech, describing how life experience can inform judicial opinions.
On Wednesday, Gingrich tweeted: "Imagine a judicial nominee said 'my experience as a white man makes me better than a latina woman.' new racism is no better than old racism."
Moments later, he followed up with the message: "White man racist nominee would be forced to withdraw. Latina woman racist should also withdraw."
White House spokesman Robert Gibbs responded to Gingrich's criticism at Wednesday's briefing.
"I think it is probably important for anybody involved in this debate to be exceedingly careful with the way in which they've decided to describe different aspects of this impending confirmation," Gibbs said.

Yeah, but she won't and all the Liberals on this board will attack Gingrich because that's all they know how to do....attack. For all you Liberals who don't understand, this article is about Sotomayor, not Gingrich. The message is clear, she is racist against whites and racism in any form should not be tolerated.
How ironic that we have a rich, powerful, white man leveling the trite "racist" term upon a Latina woman who had to make her own way through the law profession, including making it through Princeton summa cum laude. Racism is institutional discrimination based on the color of one's skin. Please, Prof. Gingrich, explain how a Latina has ANY kind of instutional power to discriminate in our current national climate. Open mouth, insert foot, close mouth, keep talking.

Let's not forget years of racism/sexism from white men that the rest of us have experienced. And she's not being racist, she's just saying, as a spanish woman, she has had many more experiences than a white male. And she has. It's amazing all the things minorities have to go through in this country and we barely complain. How would white men act if the situation were reversed?

Apparently neither Gingrich or Limbaugh are familiar with what racism is. Saying your experience makes you more apt to discharge your duty is different than saying that your race is superior. Once again, the old GOP is resorting to fear mongering, and outrageous claims to distract people from reality.

Gingrich is right! She is a racist, as are most that support her. We have a President who only won because of his race, and the Democrats feeling "guilty" about voting against a black man. The Democrat party is the new party of racism, or at least reverse racism.
This is such a joke. I have seen this and a CATO member both say the same thing. What she ruled on was not the merits of picking one candidate over another based on race. What she ruled on, according to constitutional experts, was whether a local government could rewrite the firefighter's exam because it appeared to be excluding minorities. That is an issue of local rights vs. national rights (and local rights take priority in most conservative circles).
