WASHINGTON (CNN) – The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee is taking aim at six House Republicans for their votes earlier this year against President Obama's $787 billion stimulus package.
The committee is launching radio ads Monday against Rep. Brian Bilbray of California's 50th congressional district; Rep. Charlie Dent, Pennsylvania's 15th congressional district; Rep. Peter King, New York's 3rd congressional district; Rep. Thad McCotter, Michigan's 11th congressional district; Rep. Tom Rooney, Florida's 16th congressional district, and Alaska's Rep. Don Young. The ads will run for a week, according to the DCCC.
E-mails and automated calls about the six Republicans' stimulus votes are also part of the DCCC latest ad campaign.
(Read the script of a radio ad and of an automated call after the jump)
The text of the radio ad targeting Rep. Peter King:
Did you know Congressman King voted against the Economic Recovery Plan? He opposed an $800 tax cut and opposed creating or saving 215,000 New York jobs. Tell King to put New York first.Paid for by the DCCC, [Web site url omitted], not authorized by any candidate or candidate's committee. The DCCC is responsible for the content of this advertising.
The text of the automated call targeting Rep. Thad McCotter:
I'm calling from the DCCC to tell you how disappointed I am in Congressman Thad McCotter. He keeps voting "no" on everything. Congressman McCotter even voted against the economic recovery plan, which is at work now to create or save over 109,000 Michigan jobs.
He voted "no" on transportation projects that mean good jobs right here – like widening Canton Center road.
He even voted against an $800 tax credit for Michigan couples.
I hope you'll join me in calling Congressman McCotter to tell him to stop voting "no," to stop standing in the way of getting the economy moving again.
Paid for by the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, [phone number omitted]. Not authorized by any candidate or candidate's committee.
If I was these House Republicans I would run the exact same ad. Voting "No" to Obama's stupid ideas are something to be proud of.
Pravda says this: "It must be said, that like the breaking of a great dam, the American decent into Marxism is happening with breath taking speed, against the back drop of a passive, hapless sheeple, excuse me dear reader, I meant people. The final collapse has come with the election of Barack Obama. His speed in the past three months has been truly impressive. His spending and money printing has been a record setting, not just in America's short history but in the world. If this keeps up for more then another year, and there is no sign that it will not, America at best will resemble the Wiemar Republic and at worst Zimbabwe."
Stand tall and be proud of what you did six; Obama is destroying this country with his spending. I'll vote for you any day.
Yes, applaud these congressmen for having principles and not being intimidated by the Obama machine or his media mouthpieces
let's not forget the "government control of private enterprise" through GM, Chrysler, TARP, home mortgage loans, etc
"800 million dollars to save 8 million home mortgages"
'50 billion dollars to save 50 thousand auto industry jobs",
if this spending make any sense to you, then you're going to love the Cap and Trade and National Sales Tax!
I believe the point is this – as part of the American people I WOULD LIKE TO CHOSE IF AND HOW I WILL HELP INSTEAD OF LETTING THE GOV'T DECIDE THAT FOR ME.
They have decided that you and I will pay for all this. Here's one solution, how about the govt setting up a website where all Americans can contribute to the causes in this great country of their choosing. You could just click on say "Saving GM" or "Saving the Banks" and pay by credit card or paypal.
It has been said that the best ruler follows the will of the people.
Doesn't that seem more representative of the peoples' will?
Yes, Republicans and former Pres. Bush did spend Billions and Billions of Dollars. Was there some waste to the spending. Yes, and it is unacceptable. But all the spending that the Bush admin. did in the last 8 years does not add up to the Trillions that Obama and party have spent and are planning to spend. Have you taken an in depth look at what Obama wants to spend money on?
Money does not grow on trees people and NOTHING is EVER FREE. Everything will have to be paid back and with interest. I applaud any American who has enough backbone to stand against what is insanely wrong for our wonderful country. A country founded on free enterprise principles.
I would like to see a publication on all the money that is spent (in exact amounts) in the next 4 years and see how it lines up with the actual stimulous plan and hold those who voted it in (DEMS) accountable.
I thought voting against the stimulus was a good thing.
Thes guys were the only ones that had the good sense to vote against the so called stimulus.
The republicans have been doing what is best for our country. It is Obama and his community organizer thugs who are destroying the US.
As a conservative – I DEMAND an increase in income taxes. We must pay for what we've spent.
You want a smaller tax increase? Get out of Iraq and Afghanistan, cut the military budget in half, and deny people over 75 medical benefits and make them pay out of pocket. Can't afford it? Well, we all have to die sometime. 75 years is plenty of time to have lived a great life. If you don't have the cash, it is time to accept your fate for the good of your children.
Against spending our grandchildrens future!!?? No..., say it aint so! Those dirty repubs!!
Best no vote they ever made. I will vote for Rooney again in my district.
How much of our grandchildrens tax dollars is the DCCC spending for this great idea of hope???
It's about time! ...Time to get EVERY Repugnican out of Congress! These yokels don't desrve to represent the people. I plan to actively campaing against anyone who has supported Rush (Cheese Whiz) Limburger , Dick "The Swine" Cheney, or Newt "The Nut" Gingrich!
does any one know that oil is at $68.00/barrell
I just read that the economy contracted at a 5.7% rate in the first quarter. Doesn't sound like the idea worked very well to me. In that case these guys look smart in my opinion.
If the unions and ACORN combined forces in an evil plot to destroy us all, would they call themselves the uniCORNs? Have a nive day!
The simple point is that they voted against the stimulus bill, but then go to their home districts and claim all the credit for bringing the monies into the local economy. It's the blatant hypocrisy, get it?
Having come from Cuba....... I am AMUSED at the ignorant GOPers crying "Socialist!" You people have NO idea of what it is like not to have the Freedoms we enjoy everyday!
BTW during the Cold War didn't the GOP constantly chant "communists!"?
That's their argument in total: socialism! Crazy.
Hell, they should be applauded as American heroes for voting against that clusterfreak stimulus plan.
Since when is the DCCC in the business of helping get Republicans re-elected? Go ahead, run the ads. That could be the best thing to help the Republicans gain control again.
BARNES FRANKLIN: The republicans have been doing what is best for our country. It is Obama and his community organizer thugs who are destroying the US.
SO DOING NOTHING IS WHAT'S BEST FOR OUR COUNTRY??????
retard-
Republican posters, I forget how stupid you are, and that you think you have to be a prick to get things done, and that you actually thinks it's a new idea. (yes I stole it from Patch Adams)
Kevin in Denver,
Of course you got your response to a political blog from a movie. I would expect nothing more from a liberal.
OMg. The repugs are having a field day today. Once again no solutions. Just complaints. Same old dead talking points the heard on Fixed news. Once president Obama turns every around, you will still complain. What is the approval rating of the GOP? 20....What.
Please shut up!!!!!!!!!!
