President issues get out of class pass to 10-year-old

GREEN BAY, Wisconsin (CNN) - How do you get away with skipping classes on your last day of school?

Make sure you get your hands on a presidential pardon.

President Barack Obama held a town hall meeting on Thursday in Green Bay, Wisconsin to discuss his health care agenda - but he also took a little time to write an all-important "get out of school" note.

A young girl named Kennedy attended the town hall with her father, who was called on to ask a question.

Her father, John Corpus, started his query saying he hoped his daughter wouldn't get into trouble for missing the last day of school.

"Do you need me to write a note?" Obama asked.

Clearly assuming that Obama was just kidding, Corpus continued with his question - only to be interrupted by the president.

"No, no, I'm serious. What's your daughter's name?" Obama said, as he started to write a note. "I'm going to write to Kennedy's teacher."

He then walked over to the girl and handed her the note: "To Kennedy’s Teacher, Please excuse Kennedy’s absence…she’s with me. Barack Obama"

No word yet on whether the president's get out of school free card did the trick.

It is not the Repugs or the Democrazies it's government in general. They are not out the help the people. Until we realize they are just putting us against each as a distraction, we are not going to be able to do anything. Think sports team ideology. Wake up people you are all sheep.

If obama does not stop the abuses of, and by the healthcare system by local and state governments, with the totally useless programs set up to manipulate for the political aspect for more funding, there will be no healthcare system left. Unfortunately, the vetrans returning home and the 65 and over crowd are already experiencing the effects of the abuses and it is a ttotal sad state of affairs to not be able to take care of those who have served this country and the country is turning its back on them....

When Julius Erving was playing basketball in the old ABA, a friend of mine in the 6th grade at the time went to a daytime game. His dad wrote the teacher a note: "Please excuse Scott from school today, he has an appointment with the Doctor." Of course Julius Erving is "Dr. J."

There are some things money can buy. But a hand-written note from the president, "OBAMALESS".
Kennedy, keep that note for every time you miss school.

We all know there are plenty of "Obama-haters" out there, along with those who regularly overreact to any political stance they disagree with. There has been alot of talk lately about how the President has become a celebrity but isn't proactively doing his job, how he spends too much time on photo ops and not enough time on fixing issues. That's your opinion, and by all means support what you think...

But realistically, for a president to be an effective leader of a large country and a global voice, he has to develop credibility, compassion, and even a certain "celebrity" popularity. Especially in today's world where media has become the gatekeepers to information, cultivating your positive image is an important step for the President in order to garner and weild the sort of power citizens expect him too.

The fact that such a small scale news article as this has generated so much heated debate from people on both sides of the issue is proof that Obama is doing something right. You're never going to have devotion without dislike, but even those of you who are taking shots at Obama are doing it because he has invariably grabbed your attention. Keep that in mind.

WHAT A LEADER, WHAT A MAN, WHAT A PRESIDENT...with one hand he tenderly pats a young girl on the head while simultaneously sticking her with a bill she will be paying on all of her adult life. What irony in a made for movie photo-op!

I could care less about the note – nice gimmick for Obama. I doubt the school cared in the first place if the girl missed the last day, as long as she was not a habitual skipper. The only concern is that it sets up precendence for parents to ask to get their kids off for anything else outside of the defined excused absences listed in the guidelines – but that is a miniscule nit of a concern.

I do, however, find it completely amusing on this board that the Democrats are screaming about how hateful the Republicans are on any comment the Republicans make that is negative (or even not glowing) on Obama. When these same Democrats spent 8 years denegrating Bush and saying far more hateful things about him – to the point of almost being treasonous in some places. Heck – some of the Dems still can't let it go with Bush.

All of ya'll need to grow up.

Wow, I can see why the GOP fears this President. He is smart, charismatic and has a way with the common people.

That is wonderful, David Letterman is making perverted remarks about Palins daughters and the lefties are defending him. When will the press get off its love affair with this fraud and start treating America fair. Is it any wonder that 43% of the respondents to the CNN story on Letterman actually blamed Palin and her daughters?

This is really stupid. I can't believe that everyone is getting all worked up about this! If it was planned, then well done. A very good publicity stunt. If it wasn't, all the better. It shows that are President has a sense of humor and is very clever. As far as I'm concerned, CNN should be praised for reporting on something light-hearted now and again, and I gaurantee that this girl will have that note framed on her wall with this picture when she is 80. That is a good memory!

All you people that can't complain enough it seems, GET A LIFE and GET OVER IT!

If you ever went to school, you would know you did practically nothing on your last day of school, Most of you reading this have never seen a sitting US president up close but I hope that if you get the same opportunity this little girl's dad had to share that experience with his loving daughter, you would do the same. It is a great life experience.

Wow, no one complained when Sarah Pathetic was keeping her children out of school and dragging a special needs newborn all around the country. Hypocrites!

This is a joke, the Republicans are learning that what goes around comes around. When the Supreme Court elected W in 2000, the Republicans told everyone to get over it. When W was increasing spending, the Republicans didn't care because they were fattening their pockets (Haliburton, Enron, etc.....). But now that they money is going to fund the less fortunate (i.e. the ones the Republicans have been stepping on for most of the last 30 years), its a problem, give me a break...The people have spoken and they are tired of the good ole boy network and the way the GOP has damaged America's image domestically and abroad. The Democrats have been charged with changing things and if they do no better, then they'll find themselves just as irrelevant as the GOP is now
