President issues get out of class pass to 10-year-old

GREEN BAY, Wisconsin (CNN) - How do you get away with skipping classes on your last day of school?

Make sure you get your hands on a presidential pardon.

President Barack Obama held a town hall meeting on Thursday in Green Bay, Wisconsin to discuss his health care agenda - but he also took a little time to write an all-important "get out of school" note.

A young girl named Kennedy attended the town hall with her father, who was called on to ask a question.

Her father, John Corpus, started his query saying he hoped his daughter wouldn't get into trouble for missing the last day of school.

"Do you need me to write a note?" Obama asked.

Clearly assuming that Obama was just kidding, Corpus continued with his question - only to be interrupted by the president.

"No, no, I'm serious. What's your daughter's name?" Obama said, as he started to write a note. "I'm going to write to Kennedy's teacher."

He then walked over to the girl and handed her the note: "To Kennedy’s Teacher, Please excuse Kennedy’s absence…she’s with me. Barack Obama"

No word yet on whether the president's get out of school free card did the trick.

@ southerncousin, who asked "When will the press get off its love affair with this fraud and start treating America fair. "

You think it's fair that the rest of America has to listen to the MSM print and talk about blatantly inaccurate comments like "this is socialism" and "she's a racist" as though they deseve equal footing with sane, educated, rational and reasonable commentary? Get a clue! The media is MORE THAN FAIR to the GOP at this point: It's HELPING the GOP. The GOP has dug itself into an enormous hole and day after day digs itself deeper by saying some of the most insipid, baseless, virulent, spiteful and societally damaging nonsense, but what does the MSM do with it? PRINTS IT ALL OVER THE PALCE AND TALKS ABOUT IT AS THOUGH IT'S LEGIT. Don't crap where you eat bro...you should be thanking the MSM every day that they choose not to ignore the GOP's idiocy because it helps them make money to drum up controversy.

Please Universal Healthcare all the way. I don't care about waiting an hour or 2 to see a doctor. I do that already anyway.

I had a hernia removed at an outpatient facility that stated they were in my insurance plan and I doubled checked with my insurance. Bill came out to $22,650 and my insurance company only paid $19,350. I was stuck with paying $2,325 because they said the facility was not in my network.

Didn't matter that I checked with them and the facility did too, they didn't want to pay it. The facility was kind enought to forgive the $2,325 and said I owed them nothing. If it weren't for the kindness of the director of the facility, I would've been stuck with that bill and would've wiped out all my savings.

going with her father to see and hear the president speak is an education by itself, whether it's bill clinton or george bush or president obama. i really don't know which part of that the hatemongers do not understand.

i pulled my younger son from one week of class to be with my wife and his older sibling to see oxford university where his older sibling went to school in. he saw, he felt and experienced what's so special about the university. that was an education for him, and for us. my younger son wrote his term paper about the different colleges in the university. he graduated valedictorian from his class. he is now a medical student.

Shane and others who are appalled that the girl's father would have her miss the last day of school (when you get your report card, clean out your desk, and stack up books), did you complain when Sarah Palin kept her kids out of school from September to November to campaign? I recall her younger daughter complaining when she got back about how far behind she was now with her schoolwork. Get real, or at least consistent!

Oh, priceless!! I get teary-eyed whenever the President goes out of his way to get involved with mainstream America!! I believe that was one of the reasons we all voted for him and the "Change" he brings to this country.

As for as the 10-year old, she has a keepsake for life!

I read in the paper today that the Presiden't old "Pastor", Jeremiah Wright, had tried to call the president, but that "Them Jews" would not let the call go through.

Perhaps if the President had not spoken in Egypt and made such anti Israeli remarks there, that gunman would not have been motivated to shoot up the Holocaut Museum.

The only purpose Republicans have these days is to try to hope Obama fails so that their guy won't look so bad.

What a pathetic bunch of haters and losers.

And why didn't they complain while Bush was running up 4 trillion dollars in debt during supposed good times but they do when Obama does it once to try to head of a new great depression? What a bunch of hypocrites.

Good news ia also news worthy. Thank you CNN for finally sharing a positive story about our President. I was about to give up on you due to the negativity you insist on being newsworthy. Our past president messed up the country and was an embarrassment everytime he spoke. We have a president that cares and can speak.

    Geez!

Can we get this guy to focus on the US economy? Somebody tell him that he won – no need to keep campaigning!! I don't care about his date with his wife, his kids, or his time spent talking to schoolkids – we need a full-time President, not somebody spending our tax dollars jetting around to give stupid stump speeches. C'mon!

Let's smile! It is a young, happy looking child involved in this story. To those who are recommending that the note be kept as a souvenir, listen up: This is the age of technology, she can have it notarized, scanned and sent in PDF format via e-mail to the teacher If school is closed. After all, the story is most likely in her local newspaper, so there's proof. To the person who questions how valid this excuse will be if school is about closed, get this. School remains open to the teachers who will tally the attendance and incorporate it in the report card which has most likely NO YET BEEN COMPLETED. Satisfied?

What the President did for this little girl was gracious and natural because he is the father of two young girls. So, he understood what the girl's father was saying. Mr. Kennedy deserves credit for mentioning his daughter had skipped class to see President Obama.

Who knows what the experience might do for this little girl in 20 years.

Eric – you know what? Republicans like you were the dominant voice once and were and will always be respected. However, your party now is dominated by a completely different republicn type and I am sorry to say they are destroying your party. Where is the leadership and How did it get this way?

She should have stayed in school, she's too young to understand any of this or the impact. That age through 25 they think everything is free and provided by someone else.
