GREEN BAY, Wisconsin (CNN) - How do you get away with skipping classes on your last day of school?
Make sure you get your hands on a presidential pardon.
President Barack Obama held a town hall meeting on Thursday in Green Bay, Wisconsin to discuss his health care agenda - but he also took a little time to write an all-important "get out of school" note.
A young girl named Kennedy attended the town hall with her father, who was called on to ask a question.
Her father, John Corpus, started his query saying he hoped his daughter wouldn't get into trouble for missing the last day of school.
"Do you need me to write a note?" Obama asked.
Clearly assuming that Obama was just kidding, Corpus continued with his question - only to be interrupted by the president.
"No, no, I'm serious. What's your daughter's name?" Obama said, as he started to write a note. "I'm going to write to Kennedy's teacher."
He then walked over to the girl and handed her the note: "To Kennedy’s Teacher, Please excuse Kennedy’s absence…she’s with me. Barack Obama"
No word yet on whether the president's get out of school free card did the trick.
Just more proof that he's an Islamofascist: a clever plot to lower education standards one truant child at a time.
He is not good at governing but he is very skillful and cunning in playing the game of politics. Too bad not many people see through him.
I am a long time DEM and I am a moderate liberal supporting pro-choice policiies. But he is definitely not my choice. I believe the MSM and the pro-Obama media pushed him there.
I don't think he is a uniter, he is a devider, a very cunning divider.
Worst president ever...nice gesture, though.
I think it's wonderful that Obama did something like that.
very sweet and down to earth
Oh come on guys not everyday you can meet the President of the United States. Sheeeh....give me a break!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wow. I wonder if he could write me a note to pay my mortgage?
To Jake's Mortage Holder,
Please excuse Jake’s non-payment...he's with me.
Barack Obama"
Maybe you could just sign this check Mr President.
Come on, this is funny. It would've been funny if it was George W. doing it, and it's funny now. This has nothing to do with your political bent. How anyone could turn something like this in to a bitter rant is beyond me.
I wonder if he had to read the teleprompter to advise him to, "give a not to some cute kid..."
The girl should have still been in school, but I thought Obama's handling of her absence was handled in good taste. Here's hoping she has a future as an honest politician!
I must say, that was a pretty genuine moment between the President and the girl.
To the Rhoades Scholar exclaiming 'Hitler Youth'......Who urinated in your cheerios this morning? Is this the reason for the sour taste in your mouth? It sounds like your issue is with that person and not the President of the United States.
May God bless you as you try to fill your heart with love....bisous!
I think it's great. If any President was going to be in my town, you bet I would take my kids ouf of school to see him/her. It's a lesson in goverment. It's important that kids take notice so when they are old enough, they continue to pay attention and can make informed decisions when it comes time to vote.
I think it's great that President Obama wrote the note. I think it is a cute gesture to a little girl who came to see him and learn more about what is going on in the world.
Most kids on the last day of school are released within a few hours, if that, lighten up already.
Cry if he excused her for missing a state exam just to listen to him speak.
I find this pretty cool personally. He took a moment to brighten the day of a child. That is a good thing. It shows that even our leaders are human.
To those screaming about her missing school being awful. How much will a 10 year old miss on the last day of school? Most 4th grades (which is what I would be willing to guess she was in) classes screw around on the last day. Water balloon fights and goofing off. She probably learned far more going to that meeting than she would have learned at school talking about her summer plans to her friends.
To those screaming that the issues were "too adult" for her, how do you know? My 10 year old son has a better understanding of politics than many adults I know. 10 year olds are more intelligent than most people give them credit for.
Perhaps this young lady WANTED to go. It's not every day that most kids gets to see the president in person.
Barack Obama knows how to stoke a crowd, or a country, into seeing him as likable. Even the naysayers have to admit he's better at it than most anyone in the Republican party, even if a few of them are finally showing promise.
Teacher cant fault her with a note from the President !
To James who wrote:
"This is news!?
I am so sick of the Obama adulation from the media.
Are you sick of something the media covers about what President Obama did, or the fact that President Obama listens to the people and tries to be accomodating to all?
In my opinion Susan said it best when she wrote:
"wow..
I think its a great experience to meet a president. you can recover whatever you missed in one day's class but the experience will be forever……. "
Because postings are closed on the Holocaust Museum murder...
All you liberals, with foam flecks flying in your comments, did you know that the kook who shot the guard hated the GOP, believed in 9/11 conspiracies and hated Jews? He is way, way more like Rev. Wright than Rush or Hannity or any of the other conservatives you guys are bashing.
The problem with discourse in this country today is that people who do not know what they are talking about keep talking...and people who aren't smart enough to question EVERY accusation made in the blogosphere believe EVERYthing they read that they WISH was true.
I am no fan of Obama, but actually love seeing this caring side of him. Some of you liberals go overboard with your comments.
That's great! Go ahead all you haters, hate away. No matter what you say I would skip outa nething to get a chance to see the Pres.
This was too cool....
OMG, an "excuse me from school" from the President. Rush and Newt will say Obama has endangered and weakened the U.S.
You gotta love this guy! What a class act. I'm sure Kennedy's teacher is wondering why didn't the entire school take the day off.
Here is a president making the day of a young girl and people go off the deep end. Its always nice to see the president act like a human being instead of a robot.
Hey Susan, you are dead on with your comment, " think its a great experience to meet a president. you can recover whatever you missed in one day's class but the experience will be forever……."
The teacher will take the note and sell it on Ebay to the highest bidder
Now let's see if Palin will stop going to NY with her 14year old daugher when she was supposed to be in school...
Just common sense!
