Republicans raising cash to counter-program ABC Obama special

[cnn-photo-caption image= http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2009/POLITICS/05/13/republicans.family.feud/art.michaelsteelemd.gi.jpg caption="Steele is raising money to counter-program ABC."](CNN) - National Republicans - miffed over ABC News' decision to broadcast a primetime special next featuring President Obama making the case for his healthcare proposal - are looking to raise $100,000 to hit the airwaves with their own health care reform proposal.

"ABC News will be promoting Obamacare at virtually every opportunity, from 'Good Morning America' to 'Nightline,' and reach from ABC News' Web sites all the way to the White House's East Room," Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele writes in an e-mail titled "URGENT" to supporters Thursday.

"Please help us raise the nearly $100,000 we need to buy air time to get the truth about the disastrous consequences of the Obama Democrats' government-run health care plans out to the American people," he adds.

The letter comes a day after the RNC sent a memo to GOP members of Congress urging them to take to the local airwaves next week to discuss the party's approach to health care reform.

The RNC told congressional offices Wednesday that it will pay for and help schedule the interviews with local television reporters in their states and districts.

You fear 'government bureaucrats?' How come you don't fear your own private insurance companies' bureaucrats, who decide your health based on their profits? Americans pay over $2 trillion PER YEAR to these abusive, profit-hungry corporations. The privatized system has failed already! Doing more of it, as the republicans propose, is just going to be a bigger, more expensive failure! It's time to try something different!

Ben: Again, I dare you to watch the interview with President Obama and judge for yourself if he was truly "whining". I did watch, and he very calmly voiced his opinion.

The whiners are: Palin, O'Reilly, Beck (geez, the guy was actually crying on TV!), Hannity, Coulter, Limbaugh and all the other people who support and/or are belong to the GOP who about have a coronary anytime anyone disagrees with them!

Talk about immature! Just where do they get off thinking that their way is the only way? That only they are right? Talk about ego and arrogance!

This is the same group that nodded in unison when Cheney said there was a direct link between Saddam Hussein and al Qaeda and now says he doesn't know of any evidence that there was!

How do you people keep your heads from exploding? The strain of keeping all those lies straight and the effort of rationalizing reality with what your "leaders" say must be enormous!

Well we know who's in the pocket of the insurance industry, don't we! As long as you're paying your insurance company to do nothing everything is fine; the moment you actually need something in return for all that money you've sent them they'll drop you like a hot rock!

When you get the air time (and you should), be sure to break with tradition and tell the unvarnished truth:
    About your interests
    About your intentions

It;s not an interest in the health of our citizens
You don't intend to make health care better for our citizens

It's about PROFITS, no matter who gets hurt.

I have to agree that FOX News has edited alot of Obama's snippets of his speeches and conversations to make it look like the truth. Even their little boy( acts line on) Hannity, twists his stories so he can keep the one's who watch his false reporting of Obama news. He keeps hollering Socialism, in which the American people know that socialism doesn't exist here in the US. The GOP and fox tends to promote it alot,,,,,,,, hint: hmmm, they must want SOCIALISM in this country.

John: The Obama plan does not propose to take over health care; it proposes to give people a choice in who they select for their health care providers.

Right now, in the majority of locales, one and maybe two, insurance companies provide health insurance. They have a monopoly and set prices, availability, coverage, etc.

Why aren't you complaining about THAT?

You Republicans are something else. You REALLY believe things were OK under Bush and Dick??? That is scary. People look back on that because it was such a mess. You look back on Clinton and blame things on him? What's the difference? The real sad part is how divided this country really is and that may never change. I still support Obama and 5 months is a nano second in his term.

Obama's Health Care will pass because there are just as many people now with OUT Healthcare or more than people with Healthcare......so who do you think the GOP should be catering too (you would think the people without) but NO the GOP is all for the people who already have and have plenty (tjhey are called the RICH) the GOP doesn't care about the people who have no Healthcare, who lost their homes, or lost their retirement saving.......

    ABC is a joke.
For them to get in bed politically with anyone is just wrong.
There is no such thing as objective reporting.
What happened to just reporting the news and being tough.
All they have to do is be honest, but they can not be.

How come you reputhlicans don't just watch Faux News for the republican response? I'm sure you know that station will be happy to destroy anything our President proposes.

    and one last thing......

EACH ONE OF YOU ARE THE MORAL EQUIVALENT OF A GUTTER SNIPE.....willing to eat anything thrown down the sewer by your party leaders. Where was all this out rage when we were spending billions in Iraq? Now we want to spend it here (on Americans) and you freak.

We need you guys to finish High School before posting comments and voting

The healthcare issue has been with us a long time. How come the Bush administration didn't try to do anything about it? I know. It was easier to start a stupid war and spend hundreds of billions on that instead of caring about the American people.

The difference is a show writtien and produced for informationthat came to certain findings after an investigation, and a news show which is supposed to be objective and report the news.
The "news" is not supposed to promote one political agenda or an opinion it is supposed to "report" facts and stay objective.
A "news" agency is never supposed to be tied to a party or politician.
    They have lost all objectivity.
