Palin hits back at 'malicious' photo

(CNN) - A week after a high-profile uproar with comedian David Letterman over the late-night host's joke about her daughter, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin is again sharply responding to the appearance of her children in the public sphere.
Palin's latest response comes after liberal Alaskan Blogger Linda Kellen Biegel doctored a photograph of the former Republican vice presidential candidate with her 1-year-old son Trig, who suffers from Down Syndrome.
Biegel, who blogs in support of the Alaska Democratic Party under the name "Celtic Diva," superimposed a picture of conservative Alaskan radio host Eddie Burke over Trig's face in an apparent effort to show how close the radio host is with the Alaskan governor.
"Recently we learned of a malicious desecration of a photo of the Governor and baby Trig that has become an iconic representation of a mother's love for a special needs child," Palin spokeswoman Meghan Stapelton said in a statement provided to CNN. "The mere idea of someone doctoring the photo of a special needs baby is appalling."
Stapelton also suggested President Obama should speak out against such behavior from liberal activists.
"Babies and children are off limits," She said. "It is past time to restore decency in politics and real tolerance for all Americans. The Obama Administration sets the moral compass for its party. We ask that special needs children be loved, respected and accepted and that this type of degeneracy be condemned."
Responding on her blog to the uproar, Biegel said in no uncertain terms the doctored picture was intended to make fun of Burke, not Trig Palin.
"It's called 'Baby Burke' because it's Eddie Burke...basically his probable second-biggest fantasy about the Governor," she wrote. "So, connecting the dots for you...WE'RE MAKING FUN OF EDDIE BURKE!!!!!!"
Earlier this month Biegel filed an ethics complaint against Palin for wearing a jacket made by a company that sponsored her husband - a snow mobile racer - to a public event. An investigator ruled Palin had not acted wrongly and the Alaska governor accused Biegel "asinine political grandstanding."

You've gotta be kidding, right? Can you imagine if every politician whined about every doctored picture how many "headlines" we'd have to read?
Palin can call Obama a "terrorist" but then whines over something as trivial as a picture illustrating a relationship she has with aconservative talk show host. She can dish it but she can't take it...
Give us all a break with this "news".

Ask yourself, would she be trying to play up everyone's sympathies on this if the child didn't have DS? Would you be as susceptible to being outraged over what really amounts to nothing more than a slightly tasteless way of making a point if the child didn't have DS? Enough is enough. She probably does more whining than Trig does.
Come on! Get over it. Palin's drawing attention to her own son's status is what is insulting to her son. The cartoon was just showing how close Palin is to the radio host. If this is the only way Palin can draw attention to herself, that is sad.

If Palin thinks fighting every single attempt at humor is smart, I guess we all see why the country is glad she isn't VP. Get a sense of humor and move on Palin. We all laughed at you during the campaign too...you were just too busy wasting campaign contributions on clothes and rose colored glasses to see it.
When people make jokes or doctor photos of Obama, he is cool and collected and promptly ignores it because he is above such childishness. Palin could learn from Obama the value of thicker skin.

You gotta love this woman. She literally has no idea when she's overplayed her hand. The only one exploiting the Palin children is Sarah Palin, who parades the poor things on stage, sends them on talk shows, and then overreacts whenever anybody says anything about her way-overexposed kids. You want people to stop talking about Bristol's preganancy? How about you stop sending her on talkshows to talk about her pregnancy you moron?

The only acceptable treatment of a special needs baby is to keep him up late at night and parade him in front of cheering crowds and bright spotlights in an attempt to win votes.

Ms. Palin is such a diva! Get over yourself! Calling it an "iconic photo" is just way too much self flattery. She makes drama over every little thing just to get more attention for herself. She has more in common with Britney, Paris, and Lindsey Lohan than she does with any respectable elected official. Enough with the fake outrage. You are not on a reality show...at least not yet.
