Palin hits back at 'malicious' photo

[cnn-photo-caption image= http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2009/images/06/25/art.palinpic.cnn.jpg caption="Palin is upset with a blogger who doctored a photo of herself and son Trig."]
(CNN) - A week after a high-profile uproar with comedian David Letterman over the late-night host's joke about her daughter, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin is again sharply responding to the appearance of her children in the public sphere.

Palin's latest response comes after liberal Alaskan Blogger Linda Kellen Biegel doctored a photograph of the former Republican vice presidential candidate with her 1-year-old son Trig, who suffers from Down Syndrome.

Biegel, who blogs in support of the Alaska Democratic Party under the name "Celtic Diva," superimposed a picture of conservative Alaskan radio host Eddie Burke over Trig's face in an apparent effort to show how close the radio host is with the Alaskan governor.

"Recently we learned of a malicious desecration of a photo of the Governor and baby Trig that has become an iconic representation of a mother's love for a special needs child," Palin spokeswoman Meghan Stapelton said in a statement provided to CNN. "The mere idea of someone doctoring the photo of a special needs baby is appalling."

Stapelton also suggested President Obama should speak out against such behavior from liberal activists.

"Babies and children are off limits," She said. "It is past time to restore decency in politics and real tolerance for all Americans. The Obama Administration sets the moral compass for its party. We ask that special needs children be loved, respected and accepted and that this type of degeneracy be condemned."

Responding on her blog to the uproar, Biegel said in no uncertain terms the doctored picture was intended to make fun of Burke, not Trig Palin.

"It's called 'Baby Burke' because it's Eddie Burke...basically his probable second-biggest fantasy about the Governor," she wrote. "So, connecting the dots for you...WE'RE MAKING FUN OF EDDIE BURKE!!!!!!"

Earlier this month Biegel filed an ethics complaint against Palin for wearing a jacket made by a company that sponsored her husband - a snow mobile racer - to a public event. An investigator ruled Palin had not acted wrongly and the Alaska governor accused Biegel "asinine political grandstanding."

This women sounds like a spoiled child. Acts out to get attention, and whines and complains when it's not exactly how she want's it.

No one would ever know about the picture, except for her bringing it into the national stage. Just to seek more attention for herself and her dysfunctional family.

Isn't there work that she needs to be focus on for the people of Alaska? Until all Alaskans have access to electricity, running water and indoor plumbing, we do not need to her from her.

I just wish Palin would fade away. She is vapid and immoral. She clutches for media attention while pretending to be "anti media". I'm glad that I don't live in Alaska.

You are beyond irritating and you will not be elected to the top office you seek so just shut up and fade into the background already...sheesh!

Palin does not even have the brain power to realize that this picture was doctored to make fun of her (which is sooooo easy to do) and this guy Burke. Sarah... nobody gives a crap about your kids... or your husband (what's his name?).

And remember... it is you who have put your children in the limelight... you have nobody to blame but yourself. The only person you should be apalled at is the person you see in the mirror!

Another prime example of the intollerance, bigotry, hatefullness and idiocy of the liberal left. It will be liberals that move this country into dictatorship, as they did in Russia in 1917 and Germany in 1929.

    Babbling fools all.

I have to agree this steps over the line, but there is no ethics anymore. A person's family should be off limits no exceptions.
Sarah are you sure the GOP is right for you? You seem to be the only person in the GOP standing up for Freedom and Liberty?

Can she just get over herself? Can you imagine if, President Obama, stooped to fighting with comedians; or online bloggers everyday? How does she get anything done for her State? If, she can't handle everyday people and feels she has to respond vehemently, with outrage, to every article, joke, or opinion; how can she ever be a national candidate? I wish she would just be quiet for a while and stop making herself look like a guest on Jerry Springer.

During the last Presidential campaign, I (a Republican) was very unhappy with the Republican attacks on president Obama.I thought they should have addressed "substance" and not his personality or the fact that he was the darling of the established media.

I want to thank the Democrats for now doing the same type of negative campaigning to Gov. Palin. You are making her into a martyr and keeping her in the limelight when she could have faded away. She may not be the next Republican Presidential nominee, but your personal attacks will certainly come back to haunt you.

She did hit hard David Letterman and that made so many bloggers angry. Letterman had so much to lose; Bloggers have nothing to lose. She can not have a knee-jerk reaction at everything that comes toward her way because great leaders do not do that. She needs to learn to let it go.

Guess Sarah thought she needed back in the spotlight now that the Letterman brouha has died down. Go back to Alaska, lock the door behind you and don't come out again!

GROW UP. You put yourself in the public spotlight. In doing so you put your family in the public spotlight. GROW UP already.

Come on, Governor Palin shouldn't go about attacking people, every human being that has been attacked by the press is either somebody's mother, father or child. , if Governor Palin does not want to be made fun at by the media, she should not have accepted to be a vice presidential running mate, she should not have accepted to be made a governor. Being a public figure means you are going to be respected by some and ridiculed by others

Trig does not "suffer" from Down syndrome. If anything, he suffers from family and media exploitation. Carrying him about for photo opportunities at 11 P.M. is just as bad as media types transferring their own messages about him and his mother.

Guess you can't just disagree with someone's political views. You have to resort to kindergarten smears to feel good about yourself. Public figure or not, this kind of slur should be taken to court with severe penalties awarded. And how about an 'over the knee and smack with a wooden paddle' spanking, something Ms. Biegel obviously didn't get enough of as a child.

Enough is enough. Like her or not this kind of crap in uncalled for and just goes to show the mentality of some Democrats! Can't wait to see the idiotic responses and Palin bashing that will go on this blog. When anything against Obama is done there is outrage and everyone cries racism.

Will she please just go away. People need to stop giving her reasons to bring attention to herself.
The doctored photo is the 21st century version of political caricature that has been happening on the editorial pages since the invention of the printing press. Palin needs to get over herself.

How many times did Palin write "special needs". Sarah, your adorable little son (and I actually mean that) was NOT being made fun of, Burke was. Get it through your thick head.

Palin has no sense of humor.
I know hard-core Catholics that wouldn't react this defensively if Burke's head was pasted on a picture of the Virgin Mary.

Why do the Deceptacons insist on attacking this woman through her children??? Why, when all the children of Deceptacon hacks are off limits, is it open season on her family? What is it in her makeup that brings out such hate in the supposedly "open-minded" liberals? And they call the conservatives haters.....Jeez!
