Palin hits back at 'malicious' photo

[cnn-photo-caption image= http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2009/images/06/25/art.palinpic.cnn.jpg caption="Palin is upset with a blogger who doctored a photo of herself and son Trig."]
(CNN) - A week after a high-profile uproar with comedian David Letterman over the late-night host's joke about her daughter, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin is again sharply responding to the appearance of her children in the public sphere.

Palin's latest response comes after liberal Alaskan Blogger Linda Kellen Biegel doctored a photograph of the former Republican vice presidential candidate with her 1-year-old son Trig, who suffers from Down Syndrome.

Biegel, who blogs in support of the Alaska Democratic Party under the name "Celtic Diva," superimposed a picture of conservative Alaskan radio host Eddie Burke over Trig's face in an apparent effort to show how close the radio host is with the Alaskan governor.

"Recently we learned of a malicious desecration of a photo of the Governor and baby Trig that has become an iconic representation of a mother's love for a special needs child," Palin spokeswoman Meghan Stapelton said in a statement provided to CNN. "The mere idea of someone doctoring the photo of a special needs baby is appalling."

Stapelton also suggested President Obama should speak out against such behavior from liberal activists.

"Babies and children are off limits," She said. "It is past time to restore decency in politics and real tolerance for all Americans. The Obama Administration sets the moral compass for its party. We ask that special needs children be loved, respected and accepted and that this type of degeneracy be condemned."

Responding on her blog to the uproar, Biegel said in no uncertain terms the doctored picture was intended to make fun of Burke, not Trig Palin.

"It's called 'Baby Burke' because it's Eddie Burke...basically his probable second-biggest fantasy about the Governor," she wrote. "So, connecting the dots for you...WE'RE MAKING FUN OF EDDIE BURKE!!!!!!"

Earlier this month Biegel filed an ethics complaint against Palin for wearing a jacket made by a company that sponsored her husband - a snow mobile racer - to a public event. An investigator ruled Palin had not acted wrongly and the Alaska governor accused Biegel "asinine political grandstanding."

Seriously, how dumb is this woman and how dumb does she think the American people are? The doctored photo was clearly intended to make a point about Palin and the ultra-conservative radio host. It had NOTHING to do with Trig and, in fact, it wouldn't have mattered if the baby in the picture was "special needs" or the brightest baby in the world. I thought Sarah Palin's reaction to Letterman's joke was pretty ridiculous, but this one takes the cake. I think she needs to spend some alone time in her igloo and leave the rest of us alone.

Interesting how Palin always hit anyone who DARES to criticize her.

Will she and her fellow conservatives point that same focus on doctored photos toward Michelle Malkin and her incesent Photoshopping of Barack Obama and liberals?

    Naturally ... NO!

A desecration? Get over yourselves... Defacing, yes. Desecration? I didn't know that your photos, or those of your children, were holy artifacts... Before you spout off a word, learn it's definition. Desecration is to strip of holy meaning or reverence. And if it were a Dem child she had done this to, would you object so mightily?

I agree it's wrong to attack her family, especially a young one who suffers from Down's Syndrome. But to claim this blogger "desecrated" the photo is ridiculous. Of course, truth has a way of resulting in extreme reaction, so maybe it's just the sting...

It appears to me that Ms. Biegel, to put it politely, lacks common sense and mental balance. She appears to me to be obsessed with Gov. Palin. She needs to self-restrain before someone requests a legal restraining order.

Don't make this an issue about special needs. If the issue is about Trig's picture being doctored, fine. Don't make this a crusade to grab attention using special needs people. You have a special needs child, so do many other people. Don't use it as a spring board to try and stay relevant.

When will people stop messing with people's kids? It is wrong and not funny.

There is plenty of material to get Palin on. But she is a mother, and kids should be off limits. Same with celebs and the paparrazi. The kids don't ask to be put in this position. They will have their moment to decide if they want to be in the press (Meghan McCain, Chelsea Clinton).

It just shows a total lack of class that permeates through much of the media and bloggers.

These people need to have a brain surgery. If you don't believe in God, you should believe in WRONG and RIGHT. Our society can't tolerate the attitude of Linda Kellen Biegel and Liberman. We have to make sure that our children don't grow up with that kind of brain damage.

This woman needs to GO AWAY! She's had her 15 minutes + in the spot light. Can you imagine what she would be like if she became president and anyone dared to critisize her?

Don't hold your breath for Obama to condemn this kind of trash. He's as two faced as any other ultra liberal. What he says and what he does don't match.

The photo is indeed in very poor taste, but Palin is the one giving it national attention ... and calling on Obama to comment is what truly constitutes "asinine political grandstanding"! If Palin would simply shut her vile obnoxious mouth ... she would drop out of national sight over night and most everyone in the US would be greatly relieved.

Let me take your picture and put your ass as your face which is probably an improvement. You are the very type of individual we do not need in society (period). To take a picture of a child or anyone under the age of 18 should be off limits at least for those with a moral compass, which obviously Biegel does not have. Let us find her children or relatives and do the same to her folks. OH and let us also question her intelligence if there is any.

"Recently we learned of a malicious desecration of a photo of the Governor and baby Trig that has become an iconic representation of a mother's love for a special needs child,"

To "desecrate" something it has to be sacred in the first place. There's nothing sacred about a public photo of a mother and child.

"Babies and children are off limits,"

Except when Palin wants to hold her baby at events for attention, obviously.

She needs to quit playing the constant victim. No one likes these types of political cartoons, but she's bringing up the "special needs" victimization. The cartoon has nothing to do with that – and she needs to quit using her own children and their circumstances for her own gain. A mother's position is to protect her child. She is just continuing to expose hers for her political gain.

    Please go away Sarah Palin....

Your pathetic attempts to grasp at straws to garner some kind of rallying call to those who are inbred enough to buy into your brand of politically ambitious attention getting is wearing thin.
Please. Seriously. Just go away and learn to read or something...For goodness sakes!

You, whom feigns anger about mention of your kids only strikes many as disingenuous as you are the first to use your own kids to further your pathetic attempts to stay in the national media.

I hate liars, thieves and hypocrites and you, Miss Thang , have a picture in Websters next to all three of these words.
