(CNN) - Gov. Mark Sanford and his publisher have parted ways.

"Sentinel has agreed to release Governor Mark Sanford of South Carolina from his contract to write a book about fiscal conservatism, which was to be called WITHIN OUR MEANS and was scheduled for publication in March 2010," said Adrian Zackheim, president and publisher of Sentinel, in a statement released Thursday. "This is a mutual decision. We wish Governor Sanford the best."

Prior to revelations of an extramarital affair that effectively brought an end to his political career, the South Carolina governor had been preparing to publish a book outlining his policy beliefs.

Sentinel, a conservative imprint of Penguin Group, had included the Sanford book in their Spring 2010 catalogue. It was described by the publisher as "a manifesto about fiscal conservatism – why the government needs to spend less and fix the deficit ASAP."

Sanford's office has not commented about the book deal, or about its collapse.

Darn, Maybe Harleguin Romances will pick it up. They could publish those hot love letters that Sanford and Ms Argentia exchanged.

The Gov. needs to resign immediately. Then proceed to the nearest qualified psychotherapist for help with the many "issues" he faces.

He could always write Harliaquin Books on Romance, his real life is like reading one of their novels.

Hmmm – Sanford should be settled in Argentina by March, and his wife and children will be on track to have a superb life without the narcissistic fool.

Good luck, South Carolina. Just boot him out now – a clean wound heals faster.

Everything the GOP touches fails, and all of their attacks will backfire. Karma is no joke and they have built up quite a bit.

When will they ever learn that lies and deceit done in the dark, will always come back to haunt them in the light.

Don't they even read the bible that they 'thump' so heavily in public?

It's all about reaping and sowing. It will be harvest time for years to come.

I was looking forward to the book signing. What is this book called 'My Cheating Heart' by a republican presidential candidate. This is the kind wing nut the republicans would allow to get into the white house lol. What a joke. Then these idiots compare this clown to Clinton. At least Clinton did decided to get his rocks off for a week and leave everyone to wonder where he could be.

Oh what a tangled web we weave, when first we practice to decieve......Guess we don't want to hear about how to fix things fiscally when the man can't fix things physically......so much, also, for "family values".

    Let's hear it for philanderers!

sanford has lost all credibility. he needs to resign and return to the private sector. he has not been forthcoming from the first, lying to his wife and family, to the state of S.C, to his voters. he might have also lied to maria, his mistress in argentina. jenny is delusional by holding onto mark sanford who truly loves another woman.

This country (USA) can be considered a disgrace for letting information like this be newsworthy material. There comes a time when freedom of speech becomes freedom to show ignorance and the time is here, now, and a matter of fact!!!

I say we investigate if Jenny was giving him any. It could be that he was looking for love because she was not doing her part to keep the marrage strong. Hey, it could be! We all think she is so Regal, but perhaps she was only sitting on it.

I'm looking forward to the book that explains how 'Christian values' translates, for these conservative phonies, away from spending on serious needs of the most vulnerable, first. Case in point: Gov. Sanford's supposedly noble crusade to resist those evil 'stimulus' funds, which Congress directed be spent, in part, on his state's most decayed schools. There's a belt of American-Apartheid conditions along the inner side of the I-95 where the public schools are a disgrace to any decent society. Sanford's high-minded crusade that so aroused the GOP faithful was aimed at continuing those conditions. Where are the 'family values' in this picture?
"Whatever you do to the least of these, you do unto Me."
A verse the conservatives tend to overlook . . . along with the prohibition on public prayer, while we're a-quotin' here!

Sanford book deal falls through. In other shocking news, fire is hot and ice is cold.

Now Sanford is really screwed. This guy won't be employable as a lawn boy after he leaves the governor's mansion.

How courteous of Sentinel to release Sanford from his contractual obligations! I'm sure Sentinel realized that Sanford just needed some time to put his life together and wouldn't be able to finish the book in time.

Enough of Sanford for God's sake! This political gossip is growing old! There must be more important issues that you consider is of interest to the American Public... like say, health care concerns, global warming, or jobs?

For David and the likes so ready to castigate and spear Sanford: How quickly we forget Monica-gate!!!

Though I disagree w/ Sanford's actions and feel he should resign, I felt the same about Clinton. Heck, at least Sanford came clean on it when confronted. Granted, more than we need to know, but nonetheless, he admitted to it.
Yet, Clinton sat there and looked Congress in the eye, and then the American public square in the eye on camera and LIED: "I did not have sexual relations with that woman!"
Yet, when a hue arose for Clinton to resign and the subsequent impeachment proceedings, Democrats circled the wagons around Clinton, saying his resignation was nonsense, then proceeded to absolutely trash and obliterate Lewinsky.
So, when Dutch/Bad Newz talks about the pot calling the kettle black, look no further than the mirror!

Ah yes, Karma...it will come around eventually!

What's NEXT from Sanford? Is he going to come out with his own line of Designer non-Stimulus pants? WHAT?

Get this guy out of office FAST. He needs to go. Just when things can't get any WORSE, Sanford makes sure it does. Unbelievable.
