WASHINGTON (CNN) – Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin announced Friday she would not seek a second term and would soon step down as governor.
A Republican source close to her political team told CNN that it was a “calculation” she made that “it was time to move on.” The governor’s “book deal and other issues” was “causing a lot of friction up” in her home state, the source said, adding that he believes that she is “mapping out a path to 2012.”
From a political perspective, I can't imagine it will look good in a future run for POTUS if she couldn't complete an entire term as Governor.
Standing for election implies a promise that you honor, value, and will do the job. I hope folks will remember this egregious abdication of responsibility should she indeed put herself up in 12.
Hopefully, she is not only "moving on" but in addition, "out of the country."
I just hope this means she's going for 2012, it will be a great 2 years of Tina Fey and watching this nut doing interviews.
What an unstable broad. Get lost, Caribou Barbie.
CNN, bring back the Michael Jackson stories. Please!
She QUIT!!! Bottom-line is she quit her job. Now is this what we want for a national leader? There goes another REPUBLICAN! She said absolutely nothing to excuse this action. She's chasing the money, don't talk ethics Governor you need some.
Bye never come back
Sorry 2 see her quit. But I trust her for the best interest. I hope she does run in 2012. Hope she does finds what she's looking for along down the line for the future of her, family & running for President.
I wish her all the luck from now & into the future. Alaska will never be the same w/o Sarah Palin.
SARAH PALIN 2012
I would be willing to bet a dollar to a donut that Ms Palin has a big job lined up with Faux News. It's amazing how many illerate people they hire to rile up the right-wing idiots in this country. Anyone have the same feeling. In the end, it is all about money.
Somebody please shut this windbag up.
Party time in Alaska Tomorrow, A true "Independance Day", from the ruling Hillbillies.
This will not look good on her political resume.
I can not believe the reporters on CNN today think and report that Palin is stepping out of "government" because she believes she can do more elsewhere. The only "government" she is stepping out of is the state of Alaska. I believe she feels she can be more effective(aka: powerful) on the national level. Is she qualified? I have not seen it . I will wait to hear the rest of the story....
sure,,,,,,,and the real reason will come out next week
Why isn't she serving out her term?
Isn't that what the people of Alaska elected her to do?
Unless she is ill–I can't think of any other acceptable reason why she wouldn't serve out her term?
Well then in my opinion
-this shows a lack of integrity.
Oh, Sarah! You don't have the guts to serve out your term as the legislation becomes more difficult. When the going gets tough, Sarah heads out the back door.
How is walking out on your constituency in the middle of your term (after having sorely neglected them for three months last year) showing the kind of leadership that's required to be a head of state? She's too busy writing her book to run her state...huh? C'mon...she's not *that* flighty, is she? How embarrassing for her state, and her fans.
jj
So- This quitter can't even handle the job of being a governor but she wanted to be vice-president and now thinks she can be president?
Some leader. She is more concerned with book deals and talk shows than anything.
I bet we find out some real dirt on her now. She is a useless tool and I am amazed any moron takes her seriously.
Go get em Saracuda. Put them racist and sexists socialist Democrats in their place. Madam President Palin in 2010
You might want to keep your day job. It's not as though Todd works and you have a lot of kids to feed. Yes, you got some nice clothes running for VP but who will pay for your health insurance bill?
GOODBYE SARAH!! So glad to see you go! Yeah, predator control my you know what. Why don't you go live out in the middle of nowhere and be "self sufficient", perfect life for a murderer of innocent wildlife. Somebody who refuses to listen to other humane ways to deal with something that was there LONG before you ever were! Good Riddance to you and your dysfunctional family!
I dont think so
Quitter!
Can't even finish one term in the least populous state in the union!
OMG. The insanity just doesn't end does it? Are you serious? Who are these people who are going to vote for her? This is beyond scary! What a joke, no. a circus act.
How irresponsible for her to leave office in July and not even finish out her term. But that is Sarah Palin for you, irresponsible in politics, in her family and now in her responsibility to the state. I can only wish the State of Alaska better luck and better fiscal responsibility. It remains to be seen if Sarah has learned any lessons from her last outing in national politics or if she will make a spectacle of herself once more.
