Economic stimulus reaches GOP critic's turf

CINCINNATI, Ohio (CNN) - In his first trip to Ohio since the election, Vice President Joe Biden jumped back into campaign mode, setting his sights on Republican critics of the $787 billion stimulus plan.

"All the talk about how we're gonna waste all this money, that's a dog that ain't barked yet," Biden said in Cincinnati, Ohio, on Thursday. "And it's not gonna bark on my watch."

It appeared to be a direct shot at House Minority Leader John Boehner of Ohio, who posted a Web video featuring a bloodhound on the hunt for stimulus jobs.

"This is Ellie Mae, and she hasn't found any stimulus jobs. And neither have we," Boehner says in the video.

But some stimulus money has found its way to Boehner's own district in Butler County, Ohio.

For once I'm not gonna bash the Republicans, but I want to ask a question. What happened to the budget surplus back in 2001? And am I mistaken in the fact that the stimulus program was a Republican backed plan to help the economy? So why is it that the Republicans, who would appear to have all the answers, have no plan to help....Americans? All they seem to be concentrating on, are the mid term elections in which they will be able to knock everything the current administration is trying to do to help.....Americans. This, to me, (an unemployed, ordinary American of over 50 years) amounts to fiscal terrorism against.....Americans. Shouldn't they be putting the well being of the country first and party domination second? I'm just asking because a publicty stunt with a blood hound, who doesn't know what a job is, is ridiculous and I'm sick of this crap from politicians with no other intention than to regain power and bring us right back to where we started on this crisis. It's time they became a party of ideas to help........Americans.

John has spent far too much in the tanning booth – his brain – or what passes for one – is fried! He should try going back to hs district onec in a while – Bet he lives in the right wing C House in DC where they believe they are the chosen ones and can do anything. such as Ensign and Sanford.! Little boy games.

For as much money as we are throwing at "stimulus" our unemployment rate should be at 0% not at 10%. This was never about stimulus, it was about paying back donors and trying to buy voters for 2012.

The more this administration hangs it's hat on their stimulus fiasco the easier 2010 and 2012 will be for the Republicans. On their way out the door, Obama and Biden will probably still be saying," …but we needed just a few more months for this thing to kick in…".

are you deaf or dumb? probably both. The stimulus was a 2 year program. Do you not understand plain english? or do you come from the Palin school of lingusitics – u betcha!?

Listen here sparky....go lay down and take a nap. Your rethuglican reps are spending up all the money on their mistresses and you need new GOP and Flea talking points. It takes longer than 6 months for the stimulus to change a 13 trillion dollar economy. Did I have to tell ya that? Try a macro econ 101 class right after you graduate kindergarten

Everyone knows Boehner is an idiot. Between his strangely orange skin to stay "tan", his fake hair piece, and his daily rantings on some more nonsense about President Obama, he has no relevance or credibility.

By the way. Boehner, when are you going to apologize to Speaker Pelosi for calling her a liar now that the CIA has publically admitted they DID purposefully deceive Congress in their reports and meetings. Pelosi was telling the truth all along. So Boehner – have enough character to admit you were wrong?? Doubt it.

Republicans are screaming about the release of the 2nd part of the Stimulus Package. They are terrified because President Obama is restoring our nation and ALL with NO Republican support, votes, or ideas. They have become so paralyzed as a Party all they can do is criticize from the sidelines.

By the way, CONGRATULATIONS President Obama – GM announced today they have officially emeged from bankruptcy. Your wise leadership in handling this situation resulted in again another success.

Your Stimulus Package and economic efforts are paying off and America is succeeding despite the Republican Party calling for us all to fail. They will certainly know real failure when all those up for reelection will be voted out in 2010.. Of course, you all could go ahead and just quit like your nutjob incompetent Palin since you are "lame ducks" too.

We live in the cincinnati area and there are many police jobs and firefighter jobs that were saved because of the stimulus and Boehner has to know that. This area has been almost destroyed by the economy(thanks Bush and Cheney!) and the GOP does not seem very interested in restoring it. Ohio will be "nothing" if they don't stop their bickering and get to work with their Ohio elected officials.
NCR left, DHL left, Cincinnati Enquirer has laid off 100 employees.
Don't put puppies in our faces-get back to work before we all leave Ohio out of necessity! The last 4 years put us here and i think the gop has got to know that.

I am begining to think the GOP is like some of the people I work with they can not do anything wrong if they never do anything at all. Will some money be wasted yes, will it not be as fast as it should be yes. But not doing anything is a much worse choice. Governing is about making tough choices but doing nothing as the GOP answer is not going to cut it.

What's your point? The VP is telling the truth. In any business there is going to be a percentage that is allocated for waste and/or misuse. Would you rather the government lie and say "everything is GREAT!"?

Oh, wait! That's what the last 8 years have been...... remember "Mission accomplished"?

I saw on the news someone from Treasury or WH testifying before Congress that stimulus had spent $57,000,0000,000 to create/save 150,000 jobs so far. Works out to $380,000 per job. Now, tell me that our Glorious Federal Government is more efficient than the private sector. Can you imagine the violent backlash from the Sheeple if a private sector firm, a bank, insurance co, or car manufacturer said it needed to borrow billions from the Government so they could create or save 150,000 jobs at $380,000 a pop? Private sector would be crucified for such an outrage. But not our Glorious Imperial Federal Government – they are praised and glorified for taking bold action and bringing change the Sheeple can believe in.

If mr bonehead would get his butt out of the tanning bed long enough, he would know that only 10% of the stimulus bill has been spent since the end of Feb. Prez Obama doesn't have a majic wand. It will take time for this awful recession to turn around. Instead of griping about everything that Obama does, maybe mr bonehead could come up with a plan of his own. But of course he doesn't, he's just another repub blowhard!

Certainly one of the greatest fundamental flaws in Democratic philosophies is that the government is the total, one and only, all-powerful owner of the economy. Not so. Sure, government policies have an influence on the economy but this idea is like holding a chef fully responsible for a person's health. Sure, the chef can prepare healthy meals and have a big impact on a person's health, but if that person gets hit by a bus, cramming carrots down their throat will do no good.

This Democratic administration and congress are using up all of our carrots trying to cure an economy that got hit by a bus. Other fixes are appropriate and will be more effective. Don't waste our carrots!

I'll step out on a limb and say that if we are still at 9-10% or higher unemployment in 2012 Obama is a one termer no matter what else he does. I'll also step out on the limb and say that if the unemployment rate dosen't start going down by the summer of 2010 alot of dems. are going to be joining the unemployment lines.

    iI's the economy stupid!!!

Once again ORANGE MAN opens MOUTH inserts BIG, BIG FOOT.

Millions have gone to John Boehner's state and HE KNOWS it, but refuses to acknowledge this fact because he would come off looking absolutely STUPID.

I KNOW FOR A FACT, John Boehner' own city has gotten millions of Stimulus money because I work in the office and manages the billions of Stimulus money.

Don't believe John Boehner, he's the most vindictive and completely incompetent Republican leader in the entire GOP Circus. He would sell his own mother for a political LIE.

Lol. The Republicans are going to look even more foolish when the economy turn and starts growing again next summer.Fools like Boner are only crying in hipes of recapturing seats in the houses next election. They are gambeling that things will NOT get better fast enough. But by next election things will have turned.

I just wonder what it is they're going to claim "acctually fixed" the economy.
