Johnston: Palin wanted to take the money, 'forget everything else'

[cnn-photo-caption image= http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2009/POLITICS/04/11/kurtz.johnston/art.johnston.gi.jpg caption="Johnston is the ex-fiance of Bristol Palin, the Alaska governor's daughter."](CNN) - Sarah Palin wanted to take the money and "just run with it," the father of her grandchild said Thursday.

Levi Johnston told reporters the Alaska governor was stepping down early to take advantage of millions in potential earnings. According to the Anchorage Daily News, the 19-year-old said that late last year he heard Palin say "how nice it would be to take some of this money people have been offering us and just run with it, and saying forget everything else."

He pointed to talk show offers and other potentially lucrative deals.

Earlier this week, Palin attorney Thomas Van Flein told the Washington Post that the governor had received "hundreds of credible offers since the campaign," including Hollywood projects, but had not taken advantage of any except her book deal. Johnston said that even the Palin children had been fielding offers.

Johnston said he saw how stressful Palin's job was for her – "how she came home late at night and things like that" – but said he thought " the big deal was the book. That was millions of dollars."

Palin spokeswoman Meg Stapleton dismissed Johnston's take, referencing his own show business aspirations. "It is interesting to learn Levi is working on a piece of fiction while honing his acting skills," Stapleton told reporters.

Sarah Palin is no longer a candidate and her children were never candidates, I would suggest that the media offer the same courtesy of privacy to Palin's family that they previously have for democratic and liberal candidate families. The real news that CNN should be focusing on is the deficit, unemployment, healthcare reform, the cap-and-trade bill and whether we need a second stimulus vs a revision of the original stimulus. This article only serves to damage the credibility of CNNs news reputation.

I've read all I can about the "Family" that lives or visits "C-Street" in Washington, DC. Talk about Dictators being built. They convince each other they are chosen and should rule the world and all the people in it. REALLY scarey. But that's a different story. However, it does reflect some of her expressed sentiments.

Let Sarah make her money – anyone that listens to her hate-filled speeches to the point of yelling "KILL HIM" toward the competition is one sick puppy. Maybe some of the money will go for mental health for herself and her family.

God have mercy on her soul.

Oh please so did Johnston, he was on every talk show out there even Larry King the new Jerry Springer had him on. I hope Palin doesn't go on King's show we stopped watching him because of his bizarre interviews lately.

While Johnston is clearly not the most trustworthy guy when it comes to the Palin family, the idea of a politician seduced by the media celebritization of themselves is kind of an amusing angle.

It might be part of the reason, but I don't buy it being the reason,

Oh I believe it......there is a motive behind what she did......it's all about money and fame to her........and now she is able to do just that.......but I can't believe the networks, or Hollywood would be so or even the Republican canidates running for office would want her.........she is poison no matter how you look at it.........she might draw an audiance for a network for a short time but she gets old real fast and will have to be cut........all she has to do is open her mouth and speak that is her down fall and the only way I can think the networks would want her or Hollywood would want her is to draw the audiance that wants to see her flop and have a good laugh at......so go for it.......I for one will not buy her book, or listen to her on radio or watch her on tv.......she is a loser and a Quitter.......

Hey Johnston, go and get you a wipe, you are drooling all over the camera and CNN, why do you even talk to this little ingrate. All he wants is attention.

I don't blame her, the way she has been treated by the press is pitiful.

What a little punk. It is a shame he has to be this way towards the family. I would not put to much stock in what he has to say. Talking about somebody that wants his 15 minutes of fame to continue...

Levi Johnston makes himself out too be some kind of saint, he is just as guilty as Bristol, and he is trying too make money off of anything he can say or do against the Palin family. He needs too remember that this family is also his son's family and stand up like a man and stop whinning like some little kid. Some day his son will see him disrespecting his mother and family, at least Bristol is being more responsible than him.He gets on TV and acts all needy and picked on like a spoiled brat.

I think that is fine advice for Ms. Palin. Take the money and return to private life.

As long as I don't have to see or hear her, I wish her only the best of luck.

i knew i like this guy for some reason!

what's interesting to me is the statement, "Johnston said he saw how stressful Palin's job was for her – "how she came home late at night and things like that"
the more statement like this i hear, it seems like Sarah Palin wanted all the glitz and glamor of being a governor and/or vice president, but thought the footwork (long hours, time away from family, extensive travel, etc.) was beneath her.

This is starting to sound like a really bad sitcom. You know, sometimes I just want to packup and go, but does that mean that I'm going to do it? Probably not, just as in this case. Sounds to me that Levi is worried that he wouldn't get his fair share, which probably is less that zippity nada, and wants to discredit Sarah before the deal is done. When Levi and Bristol split up, I believe that he got a dose of reality. That reality was there would be no more of the glamour of riding the gravy train that comes with being associated with the Governor of the state and is doing all he can to keep his face in the limelight. Grow up, boy...

This clown should just shut his punk mouth.

If anyone is after money, it's YOU, you worthless ring worm. You're 19 years old now, jerk. Put down the hockey stick and try being a productive member of society.

Before you know it, Levi Johnston will be appearing on CNN's "Credible Sources", please. Anything to try and stick it to Palin. Why not just leave her well enough alone?

She wouldn't be front and center if the media wouldn't keep sticking her there, they're enabling it. Hell, I can't even get 2% of my comments posted on this forum, but every time she sneezes, they run to her and cover it as if something big has happened.

The kid next door just told me that Joe Biden is into S&M ... with men! Maybe CNN will dispatch a crew to his house and do some REAL investigative journalism.

The truth comes out. It's all about the money. I don't know who in their right mind will be able to comprehend a book written by Failin Palin. I think Levi is a credible source and I believe his side of the story.
