Johnston: Palin wanted to take the money, 'forget everything else'

[cnn-photo-caption image= http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2009/POLITICS/04/11/kurtz.johnston/art.johnston.gi.jpg caption="Johnston is the ex-fiance of Bristol Palin, the Alaska governor's daughter."](CNN) - Sarah Palin wanted to take the money and "just run with it," the father of her grandchild said Thursday.

Levi Johnston told reporters the Alaska governor was stepping down early to take advantage of millions in potential earnings. According to the Anchorage Daily News, the 19-year-old said that late last year he heard Palin say "how nice it would be to take some of this money people have been offering us and just run with it, and saying forget everything else."

He pointed to talk show offers and other potentially lucrative deals.

Earlier this week, Palin attorney Thomas Van Flein told the Washington Post that the governor had received "hundreds of credible offers since the campaign," including Hollywood projects, but had not taken advantage of any except her book deal. Johnston said that even the Palin children had been fielding offers.

Johnston said he saw how stressful Palin's job was for her – "how she came home late at night and things like that" – but said he thought " the big deal was the book. That was millions of dollars."

Palin spokeswoman Meg Stapleton dismissed Johnston's take, referencing his own show business aspirations. "It is interesting to learn Levi is working on a piece of fiction while honing his acting skills," Stapleton told reporters.

Surely Miss Palin wouldn't dare consider millions of dollars from us crazy liberal Hollywood elitists, would she? Of course she would. Like most Republicans, her principles can easily be bought if she thinks it will make life easier for her, and more power to her. America is a free, capitalist society, and she has every right to cash in on her 15 minutes for as much as she can make. However, please spare me the nonsense about 'country first' and that she's doing it 'for the people of Alaska.' She's doing it for her own interests, plain and simple. I wonder how much Springer would offer her to bring her trailer park of a family onto the show.

I think this young man is wise beyond his years. Of course this is the reason.

Well it looks like CNN has grown tired of Meghan "Air-head" McCain and its new darling is the worthless dead-beat dad from Alaska. It's amazing the nobodies and low-lifes that CNN will put on its air and its website, just as long as they fill one basic requirement......trash Sarah Palin.

CNN, can't you find any better sources to get your information from than this punk?

You're quoting a bitter 19-yr old as news????

Gimme a break!!! I may as well read a STAR or USWeekly for politcal opinions. CNN's attempts to destroy Palin have been absurd.

I guess liberals sure are open minded, just as long as you agree with them.

Big deal, the lady wants to make some money. Every one of us would do the same thing if the opportunity presented itself.

We live in a world obsessed with fame and fortune. How many of you would leave your current job if the opportunity to make more money for you and your family was offered? We put these celebrities and politicians on a pedestal, when in fact, they're no different than you and me.

I am quite happy if Palin takes the book, movie or reality show deals and leaves the rest of the country alone 🙂 without pursuing any further Presidential bids. There is nothing wrong with "make hay while the sun shines" philosophy and it is the American way.

Big surprise!!!! Take the money and run! Good pick McCain! You unleashed a monster! She thinks the American public are idiots if she thought we would buy the quitting because of the ethics complaints, most of which were filed before her ill-fated bid for vice president. She championed the ethics bill and then feels that she is above it! I'm so glad that she quit! QUIT!!!QUITTER!! It just reinforces that OBAMA was the right pick!!! And if David Lettermans dumb joke had anything to do with this then THANK YOU DAVID!!!YOU ARE MY HERO!!!

Ok, there is absolutely no doubt that Levi Johnson is nothing but a jerk and why CNN or anyone else would take the time to give him his fifteen minutes of fame is beyond me.

Levi Johnson would sell his soul to the devil for two bucks or less.

Thank you Mr. Johnston for making it clear to all Americans what Sara Palin quitting on all Alaskans, her constituents, is all about.

You must admit, it would be so much better to watch Levi Johnston as an actor than anyone from the Wasilla hillbilly family. I tend to believe this kid. It's just so sad that the mother of his child is one of them.

It's not Sarah Palin's fault if stupid people want to pay her lots of money for nothing.

And, we are supposed to believe him, why?

This would be the same punk who ran out on his responsibilities, and then duped liberals into giving him money for telling lies.

How are there still so many mega-conservatives who are apparently unashamed of these Jerry Springer-worthy feuding hillbillies?

Palin is a poser and a user. She poses as someone who is intelligent (when the opposite is clearly evident) and uses others for personal gain – like trotting out Levi Johnston during the campaign to hold hands with her knocked up daughter to give the impression they were happy and planned to marry. Once the McCain-Palin ticket lost the charade was over, and she was revealed for the poser and user that she is. How sad to have used a teenager to patch up her failed political efforts. But then again, this is what self-centered egomaniacs like Palin do. No wonder she is constantly dogged by ethics complaints.

Ol' Meg can say what she wants about Levi...but I'll betcha by golly he's tellin' the truth. Palins...everyone of them are star struck...the money is more important now than family. Sarah Palin will be her own downfall...and then she'll have no one to blame but herself in the long run....greed and self importnace is what her fuel is.

Levi better be careful – the Palin's will sue him for sure. It seriously wouldn't surprise me if this were true.

It seems as though 19yr old Levi Johnston is basing his characterization of Gov. Palin "...take the money and run..." on his own frame of reference in his fleeting relationship with Bristol – take the sex and run.

Hasn't Governor Palin learned that she should not respond to every comment that it out there. So here we go with another round of Sarah versus Levi. Stop airing your dirty laundary in the press!

Can't you (CNN) find anyone else to try and get info out of instead of a stupid teenager who is looking to make himself known? come on people – who cares what this kid has to say.
