Johnston: Palin wanted to take the money, 'forget everything else'

[cnn-photo-caption image= http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2009/POLITICS/04/11/kurtz.johnston/art.johnston.gi.jpg caption="Johnston is the ex-fiance of Bristol Palin, the Alaska governor's daughter."](CNN) - Sarah Palin wanted to take the money and "just run with it," the father of her grandchild said Thursday.

Levi Johnston told reporters the Alaska governor was stepping down early to take advantage of millions in potential earnings. According to the Anchorage Daily News, the 19-year-old said that late last year he heard Palin say "how nice it would be to take some of this money people have been offering us and just run with it, and saying forget everything else."

He pointed to talk show offers and other potentially lucrative deals.

Earlier this week, Palin attorney Thomas Van Flein told the Washington Post that the governor had received "hundreds of credible offers since the campaign," including Hollywood projects, but had not taken advantage of any except her book deal. Johnston said that even the Palin children had been fielding offers.

Johnston said he saw how stressful Palin's job was for her – "how she came home late at night and things like that" – but said he thought " the big deal was the book. That was millions of dollars."

Palin spokeswoman Meg Stapleton dismissed Johnston's take, referencing his own show business aspirations. "It is interesting to learn Levi is working on a piece of fiction while honing his acting skills," Stapleton told reporters.

I was so upset when Sarah Palin specifically timed her resignation
to take away the attention of Michael Jackson's memorial. Michael
Jackson gave so much to the world. Sarah Palin? She laughs as she kills wolves. She is a horrible person. This shameless attention grabbing bs from palin has got to stop. It is not going to make the republicans win in 2010. In fact I hope the republicans lose everything in 2010. They deserve to. President Obama is doing a great job as
president and the democrats will keep the senate and the house in

I am glad happy we are getting rid of this national distraction, she needs to go away and do some studing , if she wants to represent this great country. No more air heads , we had eight years of one.

I can see where she would do this, she is a camera hound, I am sure that when her book comes out, she will make a lots ot money, and in time she will take other offers, because of all of her legal bills. I think her whole family likes the spot light. I bet she tell this Levi off, when she reads this story, she want let him see his child, if she can stop him from seeing the child. I think he also likes the camera and spot light, I just hope she never runs for public office again. thank you.

Levi's point of view seems right on to me. And I don't see a thing wrong with Sarah doing it for that reason.

To be honest, I can't say I would blame her. She's never going to be POTUS or VP and she's been revealed as a right-wing apocalyptic wing nut lacking the education, intelligence or ethics to hold office in general...let alone read the funny pages and get the jokes. If you're stuck being a moron, you might as well be a rich one.

Even though I like the lady, this wouldn't surprise me, since people get into politics for one thing and one thing only.... money. Time will tell if this guy is right, but it's no big deal. Congress is nothing but a millionaires club and I don't hear anyone complaining.

ya ok, I'm going to take a 19 year old media hound seriously? this kid has absolutely no life experience nor has he even had one tenth of the stress that Gov. Palin has had and he's going to toss out an accusation like that? Get a life Levi. Better yet, get some life experience.

How sad that I actually believe a 18 yr old kid who has said he wants to be famous then a ex governor that claims she is doing everything for the 'love' of Alaska ...

I'm liking this kid more and more.

His monster-in-law (well, almost in law) decided to put this poor kid through all kinds of public scrutiny and scorn to further her own ambitions. Now that he's served his purpose, he's been tossed aside. Anytime he tries to defend himself, he's subject to more scorn from those people. Good for him for standing up to Queen Sarah.

Is a spurned fornicator a good source for information to be published by a journalist? Oh yes, there is that category called yellow journalism.

Go get-em girl, You represent the normal American people. Almost everyone would have taken advantage of being able to make Millions of dollars if it was offered to them. Go ahead people tell yourself you wouldn't. Also she has taken enough flak from the bias media . They are still bad mouthing her because they are scared of her and what she might be able to do in the future. They figured if they talk negitively about her enough then people will start believing what they say. Its an old trick think about it.
Also think about the pressure she was dealing with from all the trumped up charges, besides trying to do her daily job and take care of a family. Now she is away from all the BS and can take time to think about what she wants to do.

This just shows everyone how selfish Sarah Palin is. She never wanted to help the country, she just wanted to become Vice President for her personal gain. She uses Alaskans' tax dollars for her own personal use, and she has now abandoned them again for her personal gain. This lady infuriates me, but not as much as her brain dead supporters

Its pretty obvious that Palin cares little for a thing called responsibility or for her so -called "beloved Alaska". She and her family are like backwoods hillbillies who got a taste of fame and a look at real money (McCain's) and now has focused on getting hers.

It has been pretty obvious from the start that Palin is not up to the task of completing anything meaningful except to fulfill her own greed

Okay liberals, jump all over Sarah Palin now for writing a book. I know you probably have the 'audacity' to do that.

Note to current congress–at least Sarah quit her political office before taking the money! More than can be said for many of our current politicians.

You don't say. Really? Now this is a revelation of the century. Seriously only die-hard republicans still believe Palin has some principles left... Then again I doubt that die-hard republicans actually know the meaning of this word

With a response like that from Stapleton and reading the Vanity Fair article...this isnt' exactly a bombshell. Guess the Palin's should have treated Levi better.
