Johnston: Palin wanted to take the money, 'forget everything else'

[cnn-photo-caption image= http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2009/POLITICS/04/11/kurtz.johnston/art.johnston.gi.jpg caption="Johnston is the ex-fiance of Bristol Palin, the Alaska governor's daughter."](CNN) - Sarah Palin wanted to take the money and "just run with it," the father of her grandchild said Thursday.

Levi Johnston told reporters the Alaska governor was stepping down early to take advantage of millions in potential earnings. According to the Anchorage Daily News, the 19-year-old said that late last year he heard Palin say "how nice it would be to take some of this money people have been offering us and just run with it, and saying forget everything else."

He pointed to talk show offers and other potentially lucrative deals.

Earlier this week, Palin attorney Thomas Van Flein told the Washington Post that the governor had received "hundreds of credible offers since the campaign," including Hollywood projects, but had not taken advantage of any except her book deal. Johnston said that even the Palin children had been fielding offers.

Johnston said he saw how stressful Palin's job was for her – "how she came home late at night and things like that" – but said he thought " the big deal was the book. That was millions of dollars."

Palin spokeswoman Meg Stapleton dismissed Johnston's take, referencing his own show business aspirations. "It is interesting to learn Levi is working on a piece of fiction while honing his acting skills," Stapleton told reporters.

CNN how where you able to get comments from this internationally renowned political commentator? Just when you think CNN can't sink lower, they prove you wrong. CNN is as childish as this child

Levi, FYI for the future, there is a differance between 'acting' and 'lying'. Also, smart move – this will REALLY help alleviate the tension at the Palin home when you go to visit your son – you know – between acting classes. But then, you are 19 (and seem intent to continually prove it).

Is anyone really surprised here? How this woman has admirers is beyond me. She jumped on Obama a while back (as did more of the Rep party) for a book deal and nowPalin is doing the same thing. It would be funny if not for the Rep support for her

If I was the the husband of Palin I would have already had a man to man conversation with this fool. If the Palins ever did a mistake was to allow their daughter to go out with this low life Levi!

Governor Palin I support you even more after you decided to quit. I stand ready to vote for you in 2012 or 2016 whenever you are ready.

Levi Johnston said this! Wow, it must be true, then? Another fine example of the pot and the kettle!

On another note, if it is true...I would have done the SAME EXACT THING! Lets see....(a) Costs me ALOT of money (lawsuits, frivolous) to stay in office, or (b) I MAKE (earn) money by leaving....hmmmmmm....I don't think there is one person out there that wouldn't have done the same exact thing if they were in her shoes. (lefties won't admit it, though!)

Just like good ole Sarah........put him on the stage and use him to try to get ahead and then throw him under the bus when you don't get what you want.....one thing for she, she is the consumate politician. I guess her political and financial aspirations are more important than the family of her grandchild..........

What ever it takes for the left wing media to run this lady thru the mud .How about reporting on Biden if Palin had made any of the foolish comments he has made the LW media would be besides its self trying to report it . But the bottom line is Liberals are afraid of her and will do whatever they can to de-rail her.

I am glad CNN has interviewed Levi , after all he is the liberals idea of an expert on the subject. I would bet dollars to dognuts he made this up and you should be ashamed of publishing it. I guess there is no good story on the fleecing of America to report on today.

Does this surprise anyone? Levi's remarks certainly have a ring of truth plus he actually produces meaningful and coherent thoughts! Refreshing.

Some people don't find Governor Palin to be very credible or sincere. However, NOBODY finds Levi to be credible or sincere. He is a bum trying to capitalize off of the fact he knocked up the governor's daughter. He is the most shameless opportunist I have ever encountered. If he hadn't inseminated Bristol Palin, nobody would give him the time of day! HIs first priority should be busting his behind to support his son, and keeping his trashy mouth shut! He should be thanking Governor Palin for inviting him to the convention, and allowing him to meet dignitaries such as John McCain. He should be eternally grateful to her. What a disrespectful, low class, ungrateful, self absorbed loser.

Of course Johnston is trying to work on making a living but to compare Palin politics with the the aspiration of a 19 year old is a new LOW. I suppose that is where she belongs, down in the gutters of politics.

Of course the GOP will nominate her as the 2012 presidential candidate. Palin and Ensign for 2012!!

  19. The Party of NO stood calmly by for 8 year while the shrub raped and pillaged America, so, why would we listen to you now?

Levi just confirms what the majority of America thinks, the half-wit is an opportunist and will throw anyone under the bus including her own family for money. Yeah, she really wants to help special needs children in her state now doesn't she by quitting with 18 months left on her elected term?

Money over people, how very republican.

I can't help but wonder if Levi Johnston is cashing in on his notoriety. I just hope he is up to date on his child support payments.
It is amazing to see the extensive efforts the mainstream media will go to in order to trash Palin; while seeming to miss all the corruption going on in the Obama administration and the democrat party.
The Palins were fortunate to jettison this loser.

The young man isn't telling us anything we didn't already know ... remember the $150,000 to outfit herself & the family for a 10-week campaign?

She is clearly an opportunist, but fails to see that she lacks the intelligence, communication skills, and ability to reach out to diverse demographics to be a viable candidate for president. Palin "excites the base" and the right wingnuts, but it's the undecideds and independents that the Repubs need.

Levi Johnston is a punk, a loser, a tool, etc. The Palin spokesperson nailed it – he's a hypocrite. The male version of a Gold Digger. Sarah Palin resigned because the douchebags in the media (namely Letterman) started attacking her family, and groups most likely backed by George Soros and ilk started wasting taxpayer money by filing phoney ethics complaints to forcee her out of office. I don't know what Johnston thinks he is going to accomplish, other than making his child's life miserable. On second thought, he should probably not be involved whatsoever. We don't need two of him in the world.
