Kerry: Palin should check out 'the view from her front porch'

Sen. Kerry is defending the president's cap-and-trade energy plan against criticism by Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin.

Sen. Kerry is defending the president's cap-and-trade energy plan against criticism by Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin.

WASHINGTON (CNN) – Call it Kerry vs. Palin, Round 2.

Massachusetts Democrat Sen. John Kerry, a longtime Obama ally, and Alaska's Republican Gov. Sarah Palin are sparring again, this time over climate change and energy policy.

Kerry has taken to liberal Web site The Huffington Post to respond to an op-ed by Palin published Tuesday in the Washington Post.

In her op-ed, Palin slams President Obama's cap-and-trade energy plan, saying she believes the plan is "an enormous threat to our economy."

In his response, Kerry takes a dig at Palin in an apparent reference to Tina Fey's "I can see Russia from my house" take-off on Palin.

"The global climate change crisis threatens our economy and our national security in profound ways," writes Kerry.

"Governor Palin need no look further than the view from her front porch in Alaska to see how destructive this crisis can be," says Kerry, pointing to a two-year-old New York Times report about a small Alaskan village facing destruction because of melting permafrost.

Kerry also takes issue with Palin's focus on the likely economic consequences of Obama's plan. "Reading Gov. Palin's op-ed too often it sounds like the only threats America faces are solely economic. But that's not what our intelligence experts and military leaders tell us," writes Kerry.

Kerry also says Palin is "wrong" about the job creation projected to occur under Obama's plan and about the fact that the plan will yield "new, clean energy sources."

The two pols sparred nearly three weeks ago when Kerry reportedly joked that it was Palin – rather than South Carolina's Republican Gov. Mark Sanford – who should have gone missing. In her counter-attack, Palin took a swing at the senator's face: "... [T]he way he said it, he looked quite frustrated, and he looked so sad, and I just wanted to reach out to the TV and say, 'John Kerry, why the long face?'" she joked.

John Kerry and the Huffington Post. There's a couple of reliable sources of info for you. Shouldn't he be out looking for his next rich wife?

Note that in all the hack-job responses from dead-end Palin defenders ALL you'll see are ad-hominen attacks. You WON'T see any facts responding to Kerry's fact-based analysis. All you'll see is the same 'ol garbage. It's embarrassing really. Or should be...

But there's no money for Palin in admitting Climate warming and the need for alternative fuels.......those kind which are not produced by her Alaskan Pipeline Owners for whom she is fronting..

Typical of F. Kerry, which is typical of a Democrat. Rather than actually debate the science and economics of this false belief in radical environmentalism, Kerry attempts to throw around insults.

Hey, Kerry, remember that time when you insulted out soldiers? How did that work out for you? Leave the comedy to others, and stick to what you're good at...living off the money that real men have earned and left to their widows, not your wife and ex-wife.

Bill O'Reilly says that cap and trade is a fraud perpetrated by the Democrats to make Al Gore rich. I wonder if he will believe that when we are underwater?

Incase Kerry hasn't been paying attention I think Palin has taken action when it comes to energy crises.

There is no room to talk about national security on Obama supporters. Fixing the energy crises is the least important thing if the only thing to support this argument is national security, because I am pretty sure spending 4 times the amount Bush did in a year just in Obama's first few months causes more security problems than energy. Being North Korea has threatened to attack our state out west it does not seem getting rid of the missile defense system to protect us is the smartest thing. Until Kerry realizes the bigger security problem I think Palin comes out as the better person!

Global warming is caused by the Sun. There is nothing that we can do to cool or warm the Earth.

Man's pollution didn't cause the Ice Age to start and it didn't cause the glaciers to melt.

Man's pollution isn't causing temperatures to rise on the other planets within our solar system and it didn't cause the extinction of dinosaurs.

  12. Kerry...when Sarah gets through with you.....

you'll wish you had never messed with her.....

She's free now.....has tons of dough.....plus she will be getting $5 million for her book and $ 100,000 per speech......that, in addition to her PAC which raised almost a million $ before she even got started....

Kerry's plan (along with Obama) to raise everyone's taxes, redistribute wealth, and spend us into bankruptcy will not fly.....

Obama is failing in every category including unemployment, foreclosures and the economy in general.....

    Obama is ONE and DONE.....

People who know how to sort through the facts know that Kerry has long been trying to capitalize on the cycle of global warming we are in but which may turn into a cooling cycle at any time. He's been very successful in getting quite a following and pushing for his detrimental agenda. I wonder what's up his sleeve for when the cycle changes. By the way, does anyone know how much he continues to waste on energy?

Why do people bother to get even or say anything about Palin? If we ignore her maybe–just maybe she will shut up and go away. You know how she hates to be ignored.

I agree with Kerry, but I think it's her back porch. Why does anyone comment on her comments? Nothing that's ever came from this womans mouth makes any sense.

I haven't heard from John Kerry in awhile. His statement was well recognized. Palin should just shut up. Kerry's been a Lt. Governor and Senator for 35 Years and Palin can only do 2.5 Years of being governor of turning a beautiful landscape to a geographical disaster.

Point for Kerry. None for Palin. 😀

    Dear Senator Kerry,

Why are wasting your time with Palin? Don’t you realize that she is America’s new Messiah? She could have done a better job seeking justice against her daughter’s so called fiancé. It is our understanding that she was only 17 years old when she became pregnant. If this is true, there is a possibility of prosecuting the fiancé for statutory rape.
You see Senator Kerry; she is a Messiah for America and not for her family.

I'm sure Mr. Kerry has much more important things to do than attack another woman.

You would think he of all people would not better than to get involved in attacking female politicians........has he forgotten how much Democrats hated his wife and how cruel they were during his campaign.

Keep it up Sen. Kerry. This woman has no clue what she is saying and should not be given the opportunity to write an OpEd when she couldn't even answer Katie Couric's simple questions. She is the most unqualified candidate for any office.

Palin never said she could see Russia from her house. Geez. Whether you like her or not... get the facts straight. If you think this is the fact, YouTube the interview. That is not what she says.

I am so tired of politicians acting like children and lying. They are more drama than The Young and The Restless. I swear it's like politicians are required to miss the day of Kindergarten when the teacher has the "If You Can't Say Nothing Nice... Don't Say Anything At All" Lesson.

Obviously, Kerry and Company view her as a threat otherwise they'd ignore her. I am so over all of this. Just get to work - ALL OF YOU...

...Repubs stop cheating on your wives....
    ....Liberals/Progressives, stop ignoring the Constitution...
...Everybody else, just SHUT UP and DO YOUR JOB representing the American people.

John Kerry might be as dull as dishwater, but I'll take him ANY day over Ms. Mooseburger. She can stuff it. And Kerry is correct, by the way. Our way of life is in danger, and this is happening as the DIRECT result of what Ms. Palin and her allies in the oil industry have caused.
